    Hmmmmmmm ...

    Rinse - repeat!

Let's see here ... Give up on the idea of attracting fatcat Asians and go for attracting fatcat twentyboppers. Oh how turn-of-the-century!

One thing for sure. It ain't gonna be Stardust v.2.0!

Didn't say they were giving that idea up, just expanding an idea. Smart if you ask me. Broader appeal is better.

I doubt toning down faux Asian theming is going to scare them off. That's like saying the Venetian is trying to attract Italians.

The Lucky Dragon targeted high-rolling Asians pretty well exclusively in their marketing and that was a bust.

Ya know, the more I think about this one, my hunch becomes clearer that it will not be open before the next economic slowdown, and when that hits, it will again stall completely.

Thanks for the link. Interesting reading. There was also an article down the page on tailgating at the new allegiant stadium. 2 Billion with a “B”. If that’s a deal, this seams like a steal.

I'm sure not hoping for one, but we're overdue for one. (Just like a slot machine is overdue to hit, I guess.)

Glad this niche will now finally have a place to go in Las Vegas.

The suspense deepens! Fascinating interview with RW president Scott Sibella in the Sun. A couple of notable quotes:

"...this will be a property like nobody’s ever seen in Las Vegas. It’s going to be designed and operated with service in mind, like the good old days of Las Vegas."

"...We’re going to do our grand opening a little different. I see the grand opening being the entire summer of 2021. Of course, there will be one big night, and it will be a night that will change what Las Vegas is all about."

Like the good old days? Opening night will change what Vegas is about? Sounds like he's describing Mirage II! In any case, it'll be interesting watching all this unfold.

Translated: We're pushing the absolute-most-optimistic-best-case opening date back to mid 2021.

That sounds all very encouraging. "It’s going to be designed and operated with service in mind, like the good old days of Las Vegas."
Could that sound bite translate to "good old days" of good gambling conditions? If a casino wants to be innovative they could promote that concept. Then make up the difference in lots of non-gaming revenue sources.

A fellar can dream, can't he?!

I'm sorry, my nephew was in a rush to get it squeezed in between glee club and baseball practice. He said it took almost an hour!

Hoping I didn't offend you. It's just my clients are really particular about the renders for the investors they need to appease.

Not to be a Debbie Downer here, but the only way that the Good Old Days of Good Gambling Conditions is gonna happen is if the economy takes a downturn, and in which case the Resorts World project would totally stall again.

My perception as well. That's the bottom line. For me, no matter how awesome the place is, the bottom line is gambling conditions. If I go in there and it's just the same old thing, where it's so idiotically tight you can't even enjoy a few minutes of playing, I'll just stand up and walk out.

    "75% revenue from non-gaming sources."
Confirms my believe that even a loss leader casino would still make money for the resort by creating traffic to those non-gaming revenue generators. And just think of the cachet formed by being THE casino that offered "the best gamble." Even ploppies would make their way there because of the buzz even if they don't understand why it is better.
