    My Trip Report

I really didn't plan on making a trip out for my birthday again this year, but peer pressure is pretty strong. That and I think some of us need a get away, so why the hell not? I'm weak... sue me.

At least American teased me with a voluntary bump before I got to the airport, but that first bet of the trip is looking pretty slim as I sit in the boarding area. Got my flight using air miles and sprung for Main Cabin Extra and the free booze out of Charlotte too. Just hoping there isn't a repeat of last year where I got stuck in Philadelphia on my birthday...

SanofreSurfer and I will be the only 2 for a couple of days so we figured to break out of the ordinary and rent a car on Thursday and drive out to the desert and bury the bodies, er see the sights. We've also got tickets to Blue Man Group tomorrow night and I'm looking forward to my poncho...

Anyway, started off with first beer of the trip... had to be healthy as it had fruit in it, right?

Not sure how much I'll update this, but looking forward to a few days away. Boarding now, so no free $500 for me... damn.

    Giddy up!

I didn't even pace myself on the plane... those 2 bottle at a time pack a wallop.

Just landed and Surfer tells me there's a power outage at the Flaming-O. This should be interesting...

Oh dang. Hope they fix that a lot quicker than the Paris debacle.

So if there's no light to tell them who gets a drink does everyone get a drink?

Every trip I feel like it's my job to remind you, and your job to ignore that advice. You're doin it right! :)

Now about that power outage... did anyone get video of whatever it was that Surfer did to cause that? I'm guessing it was something Jager-adjacent.

When I got in, the power was back, but Surfer told me the bartender just kept serving drinks to keep the folks who had money in the machines happy.

A lot of the machines were down when I got in and they had a guy going around to reset them so folks could get their money out. Surfer also said the only lights on in the casino were over the tables, but they had everyone pull their money off the tables and they shut them all down.

It almost sounded like it was just a Flamingo issue, but I suspect Surfer spilt his jaeger in the machine and did it :evillaugh:

Before calling it a night, we headed over to Linq and played a little video poker to grab a drink. Nice $50 quad hit for me and I called it a night.

Headed up to the room with a sandwich from the newly relocated Cafe to Go as their pizza offerings have declined with the move. It looks like it's a temporary location due to the restaurant remodel, so I hope their fancy oven they previously used makes a comeback.

The plan for Valley of Fire got side tracked after an endorsement from another board member in town for a work gig, Keno, so we headed out to Red Rock Canyon instead.

We picked up a rental at TI this morning and $15 got us in the gate at Red Rock. Beautiful area and we did some light hiking as we are, shall we say, out of shape. Still, it was a good diversion for the day.

We headed back to the Strip and stopped at the In-N-Out on Sahara for a quick bite. Not as busy as other locations, but still took awhile to get our food.

Sounds like we'll be skipping the Wynn buffet tonight, so I'm glad I didn't but the reward on Wynn Slots. We're headed to Blue Man Group tonight and plan on using some MyVegas rewards, freeplay and a $20 credit at Public House before the show.

Doing a small hike (I'm out of shape too) at Red Rock is on my bucket list. What are the chances of encountering snakes?

I'm afraid of snakes (especially the bite, lol!)

Not much of a chance until late March/April until the fall. Besides, they're more scared of you! Just give them lots of audible warning.

We grabbed a Lyft to Luxor and settled up at the mLife desk for the MyVegas rewards. They tossed in a $20 freeplay for it being 7 days before (or 7 days after) my birthday too. I turned that $45 into $30 on VP, but proceeded to give it all back.

    20191205_203350.jpg

We hit up Public House to use the $20 credit from MyVegas. It didn't take much to hit the $40 threshold though. I had the chicken nachos along with a 22oz Blue Moon and realized my eyes were bigger than my stomach.

    20191205_205552.jpg

We made it with time to spare to Blue Man Group. We were in the second row and Surfer got his phone taken by on the the Blue Boys during the show. Fun show and worth seeing again, though their prices are a bit nuts.
