24 Hour Wynncore TR -- 11/27 to 11/28 -- Winning on Free Play!

Hi vegas superfan, I'm not sure who you are, but thanks for the memories... Met some wonderful folks from that board, but I haven't been On it
for about 7-8 years when my laptop melted down from a virus I'm pretty sure came from there. Haven't log in there ever since!

Sorry for the delay in responding. Delayed flights indeed and just sheer exhaustion from playing host but my GD, her cousin and my dear friend had an extraordinarily fabulous time. GD and friend are ready to do again this time next year. There were also a couple of "firsts" for me as well, even though I have been going to Vegas for almost 30 years.

 

Wrapping up the trip report, after MAG, we cabbed it to the Neon Museum and checked out the special Tim Burton exhibit, which was great. I also loved the newly refurbished Hard Rock sign.

 

You must check out this special exhibit if at all possible!!

The evening Brilliant show is great as well but we didn't have time to check it out. I am glad they saw the Tim Burton pieces in the Neon, however, as the Burton exhibit wraps up in February.

After we got back to Encore had wonderful coffees and teas from Urth Cafe in the new Encore Plaza shops. Wow. That place is amazing. I never would have tried it as it is abit out of the way plus it is an independent chain not covered by RFB but someone in the lounge gave me some coupons for 2 complimentary beverages each. I can't describe the feeling of this place but I would also walk over their and PAY lol to have a hot beverage there again and/or with a dessert.

We then cabbed it to the Bellagio to see the conservatory. At first my GD did not want to go but I told her to trust me. Well, we aren't even fully in the conservatory and she says "wow." I have to say that I think this is one of the prettiest exhibits I have seen and I am glad I checked it out as when I return in a few days for a big Wynncore tournament and GGWU (traveling across country again for about 30 hours!!), they may have the holiday exhibit in place.

Oh, by the way, a new Michael Mina restaurant is now open that is next to the conservatory and that has taken over the space where the chihuly shop used to be located.

The gift shop is still there and the holiday decorations for sale were everywhere.

 

Forgot to note earlier, I also took pictures of some of the art installations and decorations in the plaza shops but that huge sculptural bear is gone!!!!!!!! Loved that bear!!

 

It is now about 7 pm and we have a reservation at Lakeside for 8 pm but in the meantime I still need to check into Harrahs and get and play through the free play before dinner as the 30th was the last day for me to pick up the free play and I knew I would not have time to play it Sunday morning.

My GD and her cousin cabbed it back while my friend and I hoofed to Harrah's, where she saw me check in, get free play and play through it in less than 15 minutes. We then walked all the way back to Wynn, but walked through Venetian/Palazzo so we could see the decorations. We got to Lakeside at exactly at 8 pm, had a wonderful dinner, my fab host brought our Le Reve tix there and we were in our seats for Le Reve by 9:25.

I honestly dozed off a bit as I was so tired but the show was fantastic. I have seen it now 3 times but it had been a few years and I did like this show even more.

 

It is now a bit after 11 pm and time to get dressed for XS. God help me!! Lol. We walked back to our rooms, did a quick change and took a group photo by some wonderful christmas trees in Encore.

We then met my host, who connected us to an XS host and we were in XS in a few minutes. The Chainsmokers were performing but weren't coming on until 1:30 am! The place was packed; you literally could barely move but I was determined we would dance a bit so I grabbed my niece and left my friend in the back and we made it to the main floor. But when I say you can't move I really mean it. Well, we get used to literally feeling trapped on the floor, we dance a bit (and I use the term dance loosely given that you can barely move) and run into someone else who recently turned 21. My GD tells his girlfriend that I am her GM and the young woman literally shrieks "you have such a cool godmother!" Three days later i am still smiling about that experience.

We took some selfies on the dance floor and then around 1:15 am headed out. My GD and her cousin went to pack and then I played some quarter UX VP while my friend -- who doesn't really gamble -- played nickel UX and was really getting the hang of it.

On the other side of her is a guy from SoCal who often is there when I am there. He got a handpay of 6k playing 3 play quarter UX DDB by holding 2 Aces and then getting the other two with a kicker and 12x multiplier. Holy Moly!

And I kid you not, I am somewhat slow playing it with my friend next to me and my telling her what hands to play and five minutes after the guy gets his hand pay I get this.

 

It is now near 2 am and my host stops by and we chat and I thank him for helping to make this trip so special.

I got up to change into some comfy shoes and came back downstairs. I play until their car is there to take them to the airport at 3:45 am and we hug goodbye, all utterly exhausted but super happy.

I wanted to make sure they got to the airport and on their flight so I said I would play a bit more until that happened. I lost some and then, around 4 am, is when I got dealt the 4 4s again.

Just unreal. After that I should have gone to bed but played some more and gave too much back. I am a bit annoyed with myself about that and honestly, that is why I try not to play late at night because it is harder to be disciplined when you are tired.

But, I arrived in Vegas with 140 bucks for housekeeping and other tips, knowing I wouldn't need other money, even if my free play conversion was poor. I left up in the low 5 figures though had I been just slightly more disciplined I could have come home with 5k more.

But, hey, no complaints!!! It was a fabulous trip this time in EVERY respect!

 

Went to bed for a few hours, got up, showered and dressed, checked out and hopped in a car to the airport around 11 am. My flight was delayed but once I got on I was in heaven because as soon as Jet Blue opened Sunday the 1st for booking I booked a MINT seat immediately to get the lowest fare. Even though I was exhausted I was in heaven being in my own pod again.
