I just made Diamond for the first time due to play at my local and a trip to Harrah’s Laughlin. I searched the board and found the info about what programs CET will match. I mostly stay Downtown and my question is will it do me any good to show my Diamond card to Plaza or Boyd or any of the other Downtown properties?

    To my knowledge, no.

Edit: Sahara until the end of the month.

Plaza used to offer Ace (it’s highest published tier) to Diamond holders, but apparently stopped awhile ago (I asked, was denied when signing up at the Plaza last month :( ).

I wonder how the new Diamond Plus and Diamond Elite levels will figure into other properties offering tier matching? Hmmm.

If not even Seven Stars is matched, those won't be either.

It's pretty obvious all the other properties in Vegas consider it a bad idea and not a necessity to tier match. Hopefully once the new ownership at Caesars finally takes over they'll also do away with tier matching. Here's a food for thought people, instead of looking for hand out how about actually earning that status through gambling.

here's food for thought- i'd rather screw the casino by tier matching and taking whatever free stuff i can than earning the status by losing money in their unwinnable games.

I would hope someone is crunching the numbers on the matched diamonds. CET believes they earn more on matched diamonds overall than their costs to give away diamond status. I do think it devalues tiers from diamond on down. Agree it will be interesting to see if Eldorado pushes changes.

I assume it is a net gain for them. CET isn't that dumb (I think). Most of this forum has mostly torched them though for the match. Including me.

I wonder if it's the same people who crunched the numbers that led to unsustainable debt and bankruptcy.

Considering how it turned out, probably was a genius move. Cash out big and leverage when market was high. Cry poor and declare bankruptcy when it went to shit. Did CET lose any assets over that?

And this is exactly why others in Vegas haven't followed in Caesars footsteps.

The losers were their stock and bond holders. I think Gary Loveman is doing ok.

Tropicana in AC used to do tier matches years ago. They don't do that anymore.

I heard that there is also a more complex way to achieve tier match by matching CET diamond to Wyndham, using Wyndham status to match other hotel chains and then using that hotel status to tier match other casinos.

I don't know the details of this though. Had anyone explored this?

MLife is tied to Hyatt. You can get Gold from Hyatt status. Unfortunately, it's really more the other way around that works - Hyatt isn't good about status matches from other hotel chains, whereas Wyndham is comically generous.

I don't think Cosmo matches to Marriott status, either.

There's probably lower tier ones like Best Western where this might work, and MAYBE Hilton has something, but I've not heard much that's terribly interesting about those programs in this regard for LV.

A host as the Atlantis in Reno gave me a suite up front just for showing my Diamond Card. She used to work at for CET so she was aware of the play level. At the time I was Tier II Diamond when that still meant something. It was comped off after two nights of video poker play. Just FYI.

And the Atlantis made Harrah's Reno look like a dusty, tired little locals joint. Just saying.

My 25k diamond status is earned via gambling, and I too hope that CET gets rid of tier matching and awarding diamond via the founders card.

That said, I can't blame anyone for taking advantage of what's offered to them...

Sample size of 1, but it worked on me. I think I matched from Cosmo Gold to Diamond in 2017 and gave them one stay to try it out. Decided I liked it and made the switch since my Cosmo comps were drying up anyhow. I "earned" Diamond in 2018, so they've definitely made more money from me than what I cost them on the initial tier match.

Harrah's Reno is pretty run down, period. Stayed one night in February last year...mattress probably had more broken springs than functioning ones.

What does CET get out of being on the founders card? Just to get new people in the door who wouldn’t of come in without the founders card?
