Tons of food choices in PHO and the adjoining mall but the low end rooms aint all that great. Maybe bump the room up from the minimum just a touch. Resort rooms are not bad but no idea how much they will cost from the Hollywood Hip, which I think is the cheapest room?

What type of food? Any? Food court/etc? How far are you willing to walk or is this on resort only?

And how far below Wynn/Aria/Cosmo would you still call a "nice" room?

I think the Linq is fine, but it is unquestionably a different animal from those you have considered, for example.

If we limit it to the tier of resorts we have stayed at, the real question becomes what is an acceptable walk and what are the places within that walk of the place you choose.

For example, for the Wynn, there are some options in the Fashion Show mall, and then also places like Tacos El Gordo and Peppermill a reasonable walk north. And with a group of 3 or more, even without a rental car you get to a size where you could uber to an off strip restaurant and back and still get a better value. Or you could get an $8 24 hour bus pass, and go to any food options downtown or at any part of the strip.

The pasta at La Pizza & La Pasta is really top tier, much better than Carbone, but not as good as Scarpetta. Please note the kitchens for pasta and pizza do not communicate, so if you go with both pizza and pasta orders, the food will come out whenever they are done and not timed serving.

I'll probably go alone, so I don't have to share :D

Easier to just eat as it comes then, too.

too bad I'm not around that time... would've been nice to have a drink at Gran Caffe Milano with you and any other VMB members here. And while you're there, you need to try Crack Shack! Their fried chicken is devine because they use Jadori Chicken.

I'm always in for coffee and pizza. I'll be there for 4 weeks next summer, if you have any June/July trips planned.

Crack shack is on the list, along with Bavettes.

I've been to Bavette's twice, the first time was delightful, food was remarkable and service was outstanding. The second time, food was great, service was horrible. So I would say it's a (lack of better words) crap shoot. But definitely try it.

Typically Luxor and Excal (they're connected) are usually the cheapest strip rooms and they do have affordable food. Next step up is PH and/or Paris which are right next to eachother but are not connected.

So I'd say your parameters really are:

Top half of MGM properties (Aria, Bellagio, MB, and MGM Grand)
CP and PH and (maybe Paris)
    Wynncore, V/P and Cosmo

    that have:

Multiple (at least two) low-to-mid priced dining options that don't suck.

I think I would have to give it to Cosmo because of the combo of The Henry, Holsteins, their high-end food court, and Secret Pizza. Maybe only the food court is best of breed, but the other three are totally respectable and not expensive. Between all of them, you've pretty much got every type of food covered.

A lot of other places that qualify on room quality, the food court and the all-purpose cafes are decidedly mediocre.

I might dive in there for a solo lunch one day, and then it's only me they have to please which shouldn't be too hard.

So I can speak for CET properties more than MLife, but Ballys, Flamingo, and Harrahs have all had recent, nicely done room renovations with cheap but good eats in and around all of those resorts.

Planet Hollywood has nice rooms, great location and a lot of affordable/cheap places to eat in the mall

I took a couple of friends during my last trip. I struggled with this same dilemma. After much contemplation I settled on ParkMGM.

According to the people I took....It was perfect for access. Food options and room options.

Mandalay Bay was my second choice.

If you want to keep it in the MGM family I'd go with Park MGM. Rooms are all recently renovated (obviously) and besides Eataly you're also right next to the Park and a quick jump to NYNY, which all offer a ton of mid range options. Plus you said you really like Aria, so that's obviously an easy and completely indoors walk from Park.

MB is a good option, too, but it's far removed from everything else - and it seems from the places you've stayed + the places you mentioned that you would prefer a center strip location.

If MLife vs CET doesn't matter then it's PHo all the way for me. Good rooms, great casino vibe, and not only are there a ton of low to mid range food options in Miracle Mile, but there's a handful of options at the connected Harmon Corner. Plus you're still center strip.

I tend to prefer staying at the center of the strip, either CP, Bally's or Paris to keep my options open on where I want to go and where to eat without trekking across the whole strip.

Thanks everyone ended up booking a Bally's Jubilee room for $150 for both nights. Figured that price was good enough to warrant a bit more walking and Uber

Good choice! And you will be able to take the indoor walkway to Paris for lots of food choices, and/or hop over to Miracle Mile for even more.

Yep, good choice. Ballys is a laid back place with a nice atmosphere and the rooms are some of the largest on the strip for a standard room. Staying center strip has a huge convenience factor and there are tons of restaraunts all around.
