May pay a visit to Tunica area.
Anyone familiar with Tunica (@tringlomane , @jpw711) know which buffet in
which casino is considered the best in overall quality?
Which one is the most inexpensive ?
    Thanks!

The two best buffets out there are at Gold Strike and Hollywood. I prefer breakfast buffets at both.

I haven’t eaten at Hollywood n a long time because we either stay at Gold Strike or Horseshoe . Of those 2 Gold Strike is the best IMO. If you are Mlife Gold you get a $50 credit to use once a month at buffet. ($75 if platinum)

Uh oh...... This has @jpw711 , the Prince of Tunica, written all over it!

Though of course, ultra-savvy JeJas already mentioned JPW! :)

Gold Strike is the most expensive. As @Hogman said above, if you have status at mlife, you get a monthly credit, on top of any comps, you can use at the buffet. Beware that the credit is "use it all or lose the rest" the first time you use it per month. If you go on Friday or Saturday nights, you can easily approach the $75 figure for two people. If you like seafood, and are a big eater, it might be worth it. I don't eat at the buffet all that often, but have noticed it can be hit and miss.

Hollywood, I haven't had dinner there in years, but do eat lunch there, since the comp it and I'm there. It's small, but the food tastes good, and with card around $10 for lunch. Their catfish and fried chicken is good. And if they have them, and you are brave enough to try them, the neck bones are very good.

First Jackpot (former Ballys) is about the same size as Hollywood, and priced the same. If I'm there and it's free, I'll eat it.

    Sams Town - not impressed

Horseshoe - it's priced between Hollywood and Gold Strike. I've been there twice over twenty years, enough said.

I generally eat dinner at the Steakhouse at Gold Strike, or just get an order of hot wings or pizza from Pickle and Jam at GS and take it up to the room.

    Thank you all @nfajgmbr03 @Hogman @Multifarious5 @tringlomane @jpw711 for the information!
    Really really appreciated!
Plan to go to Memphis after Thanksgiving, so will probaly stay at Tunica for a couple of nights just to check it out.
I usually eat at buffets, so it matters to me.
    Thanks again!

    @JeJas

    1. If you are going to Tunica, having a car is required. Hollywood and Sams Town are five miles from Gold Strike, Horseshoe, and First Jackpot. Fitz is halfway between them. Fitz has a buffet also, I just haven't been to it in twenty years.

    2. If memory serves, you play at MGM joints. Gold Strike is the only MGM joint there, and it is the top rated hotel in the area. Call and ask for a host when booking, if going midweek, and you have decent play, they will most likely comp the room up front. If you have really decent play, weekends are easy to comp too.

    3. I don't know where you are gonna be in Memphis, but I'm guessing it's Beall Street, which is downtown. Even if coming from the East, there are two ways to get to Tunica, the interstate, or HWY 61 (third street) which is about 2 miles west of the I240/I55 junction on I55. Anyway, US 61 is the shorter way to go, and while it looks like you are driving through the hood, you aren't. The area is safe (for Memphis).

Good info here. I will add my two cents. None of the buffets in Tunica are worth paying for. Most of them are not worth eating at even for the price of free. That said, I will add to the chorus of people saying GoldStrike is the best. The steakhouse at GS is also the best restaurant in Tunica by a long stretch and I would always eat dinner there over the buffet. But if you are looking for inexpensive, probably the best alternative to the buffets is the Waffle House on US 61. Its Waffle House, not fine dining, but you know what you're going to get. There's a reason it appears to be the only non-casino business thriving in that area. It can get very busy, especially on Saturday and Sunday mornings

Thank you so much @jpw711. Very good advices.
Yes I will have a car, without it I can't even go there.
Since Gold Strike is the top hotel there, looks like I will try to stay there.

I agree with most assessments. Breakfast buffet is also decent at the Fitz. And dinner/supper buffet at Horseshoe isn't terrible, but isn't great either.

Fairbanks steakhouse at Hollywood beats Chicago Steakhouse at Gold Strike in my opinion also.

If you don't have comps, I'd say hit the buffet at HW or GS for breakfast, go to Hollywood Cafe (not in the Hollywood casino) or Interstate BBQ in Memphis for dinner, and Fairbanks at HW, Chicago Steakhouse at GS, or Twain's Steakhouse at ST for supper. Late night eats are prob best at Pickles &Jam at GS, 8 oz Burger Bar at HS, or Smokey Joe's at ST.

If you do go to interstate bbq (third street about 2 blocks north of I-55 on the left), be sure to get the BBQ spaghetti. There's better bbq, but that place is easy to get to.

And just south of the state line, on the West side of hwy 61, by the trailer park, there's old skool hot wings. That place is awesome. Beware that a wing there is a true wing, not a drummie. Place looks like a dive, but the food is top notch.

I'll throw my opinions in the ring here. Weekend buffet at Gold Strike is better quality than the others. Weekdays at GS are hit or miss. Horseshoe has a pretty extensive buffet regarding choices, but sometimes it's just blah. It's been a long time since I've been to any other buffets in Tunica. But, I remember Hollywood being probably better than the others besides GS and HS.

Hi Gentlemen ( @Hogman @jpw711, et al.), how does the Mlife $50 food credit work?
In orther words, how to get it? You scan your card at a kiosk, or go to Mlife desk?
    Thanks guys!

No just go to the buffet and they can look it up on your card.

I visited Tunica in September 2018 and had the lunch buffet at Gold Strike. I enjoyed it just fine but I think if I had paid I would have been a bit disappointed. We got 2 free buffets for playing less than 2 hours of Pai Gow flat betting 2 hands at $10. The floor people were very generous with comps while we were there.

    Hi @jpw711 ,
I did. Thank you! I have been driving most of the time today.
Due to some scheduling issue, we went down to Tunica on Friday evening just for 1-night.
Stayed at Gold Strike comped up front. 2 queen standard room, was just OK.
Dinner at Gold Stike buffet as suggested by you guys.
It was good, nothing special though. After the $50 credit, the rest paid with my Express Comps.
Didn't ask for any backend comps as I didn't charge anything to the room. Didn't plan to either.

Saturday morning breakfast went to Hollywood's buffet, paid with my MyChoice points.
Gamling wise very light. I didn't play much, too tired this long weekend.
Honestly I am a bit disappointed with the casinos there, kind of run down.
From Gold Strike, I went next door to Horseshoe. And from Hollywood, went to Sam's. Those were all the casinos I stepped in.
I couldn't feel much excitement like I get in Vegas casinos. Maybe because I was not in the mood.

Thanks again to you all for the good advices and suggestions!
