Besides the luxe rooms at the Plaza, which downtown hotel rooms have the least amount of ‘cigarette smoke’ smell to them? We’re going in April and a friend of ours is not able to enjoy a room that smells of old stale smoke. (I’m a former smoker, so I can hang with the big girls!).

We stayed in the luxe room at the Plaza this year and since they took the rooms basically down to the studs, these have no smokey smell at all to them.

Anywhere else have non-smoking rooms that really are non-smoking smelling?

    Thanks - lauren

Rush Tower rooms at GN are good.

Whole tower is non-smoking, unless I'm mistaken.

Suites at GG, Rush Tower at GN. I wouldn’t count on those Luxe rooms being smoke free for long.

Cabana suites at ElCo - the entire building is non-smoking.

Any non-smoking room at the D. I believe that they set entire floors to be non-smoking.

Does DTG still mix their smoking and non smoking rooms on each floor. That hotel was the very first one that I ever stayed in that had non smoking next to smoking rooms. Literally the first time I stayed there I thought the hotel was on fire! Turns out the ventilation system was pouring smoke from my next door neighbor into my suite. Was none too happy.

I've stayed at the D in a non-smoking and it didn't have any smell to it. In October at the DTG my Premium King room didn't have any smell to it, nor did the hallway. In fact, I think I remember them saying when I checked in that I was on a non-smoking floor. I can report back next week.

We stay mostly at Cal/MSS. We always ask for a non-smoking room and I can't remember a NS room smelling of smoke. Only once did we get stuck with a smoking room because we had arrived shortly after midnight. It was, well, not good. We changed rooms the next day. But I digress...

El Cortez is smoke free. I'd go with their Cabana Suites since it's a separate building so no residual casino smoke.

Unfortunately while the EC is supposed to be non smoking I could still smell smoke in my tower room. Apparently some butt heads (literally, lol) were smoking in the bathroom and blowing the smoke out the bathroom window so the cig smoke went up to the floors above. I reported it but they didn't/couldn't do anything about it. I eventually just closed my bathroom windows. I usually like to keep it open to get some fresh air.

I also smelled some cig smoke in my cabana suite room. The tower elevators smelled smoky and was like an ashtray so some of that smoke always wafted on the floors. Too bad the EC doesn't enforce their no smoking policy.

I wouldn't recommend the vintage suites either. Cig smoke wafts up from the casino.

The Cal and MSS have non smoking floors. Sometimes MSS has a problem, some people smoked in the stairwell. Luckily the rooms didn't smell of smoke, at least in the rooms I stayed in.

Agree with @makikiboy about ElCo. While their rooms are "non-smoking" on paper, I've always been able to smell smoke. It's kind of odd that they made all of their rooms non smoking when their casino is so smoky, makes me think they don't know a lot about their players.

Cal and MSS aren't good choices for no smoke smell. Based on all the comments you stay downtown you're going to smell smoke.

Not true. It isn't like someone is smoking all the time at MSS, it's just that one time I stayed at MSS (out of many stays) someone had smoked in the open area near the stairwell on one floor.

Whereas every time I stayed at an EC tower room I always smelled cig smoke on the floors. As I mentioned before the reason for that is because people smoke in the elevators and the resultant smoke wafts out into the floors as people get off. Twice I stayed at EC I even smelled cig smoke in the non smoking room. I complained to the staff and all they did was to bring up housekeeping where they used febreeze on the room. I stayed at one of the cabana suite rooms and that one time I smelled cig smoke. Not sure if that is the norm or the exception at the cabana suites.

I'm a long time non smoker and cig smoke bothers me but other than that one instance at MSS I never had a problem with cig smoke in my room or on the floors at MSS.

But I can say the same thing about the strip floors and rooms. I have smelled cig smoke every so often there.

I'll have to disagree with you my friend. I've stayed at both MSS & Cal multiple times and there's often a smoke smell on non-smoking floors.

For El Co, sure I have smelled smoke in tower rooms but never in the Cabana suites. As I said, pick your poison. When you stay downtown you're not going to avoid smoke, Probably holds true to most of vegas.

I've only stayed at MSS / Cal while DT. The rooms I had were all non-smoking and I didn't smell any smoke in them. Walking through the casino is the problem...so when it gets on your clothes, that might typically make the room smell.
