Nice report! And nice work on the 5000 TC day. I couldn't imagine. I feel like TCs go too slow already!

Congrats! Wondering how much you lost to get 5k TC. Did you get on JOB 9/6

I don't know the exact amount, but I know that I was down less than a thousand for the 5000 TC day, which isn't bad. Most of my VP play was multi handed 9/5 (which is the best that I can find at reasonable limits that still gives 1 TC per $10). Probably about a fifth of my play was 6/5 bonus hundred play at 2 cents (so one hand is exactly equal to 1 TC). Also, as I originally stated, about 10% of my play was slots when I felt the need to decompress for a while.

Sorry about the loss of your dad. I lost my dad earlier this year to cancer and have not made the trips this year that I have in the past. Congrats on the 5000tc day with minimal losses. I did have one of the roving hosts approach me at the Cromwell a couple of years ago and asked if there was anything I needed. I mentioned that I missed the Dogfish IPA they used to comp and was surprised that one was brought to me.

I don't know the answer to this, but is it worth losing around $1000.00 in a day, to reach 5000 tier credits for that day? I mean, to me, losing around $1000 in a day would be upsetting, regardless of how many credits I earned. But I guess if you're trying to reach 7 stars, that's what you need to do. I am just Platinum, so I get my 5 free nights, without incurring big losses, and I'm cool with that.

I hear you, but look at the greater general population here. There are many, many players we see posting about their play, who have no problem playing thousands through 96-97% return VP. There are even cases where people play particular games while knowing that there are better games that pay up to 2% more on the very same machines! (This is not meant to imply the OP is one of them, I have no idea. But just a comment on the general population of today's casino population. But, truth is, in LV, unless you are playing $25/point machines, Caesars Resorts VP in LV is indeed sub 98.5% games, at best.).

I would say that this varies wildly based on gambling budget. For a person with a $5000 a day budget, a $1000 a day loss would actually seem like a win. For a person with a $500 a day budget, a $1000 loss would be upsetting. Personally, I would be pleased if I made 5K TC's with a $1000 loss. That means you got a lot of gaming time relative to your loss.

As I say, it was under a thousand. If I had to give a range, I would say $600 - just under a thousand. For the whole trip, I didn't lose more than $1200. For that I received, 5 nights comped in a nice hotel ( with no resort fee), most of my food and all of the drinks were comped, and I racked up a bunch of TC's and RC's. I ended up paying well under retail for what those amenities would have cost. As long as my losses are under what I pay without any comps, I figure it's a good deal.

I do seek out as good a VP schedule that I can get within reason, and generally play multi handed to reduce volatility. I stick to JOB or BP for the reduced volatility, and because I am comfortable with the right strategy. I do avoid slightly better schedules that are $5 credit and up since if you have a bad session, you can get killed in a hurry. I have noticed that even these limits are beginning to go to $25 per TC.

However, I absolutely agree with the sentiment that you shouldn't bet more than you can afford to lose!

Damn...I can't imagine hitting 5k TC on that kind of a loss. I lost nearly that much making just 500 TC playing VP.

No it’s not. I was Diamond for at least five years before I was assigned a host, who contacted me via phone and e-mail. I was never visited by a host on the gaming floor. I’d be very surprised if I am in the minority here with Diamond players.

It doesn't happen at every CET casino you visit. For example, I was at Caesars for about an hour, and no host stopped by. However, for the fairly recent past at least, a floor host at the casino that I was staying at, has always stopped by to greet me and usually mentioned to make sure that I included it in the survey when asked about it. It struck me that it would be a blackmark on their record if they didn't. Now I have been a 25K+ diamond for the past several years, so maybe their is a certain minimum level of play where this kicks in?

But host at Harrah's Joliet comes up to @wanker751 and gives him a $25 food comp within minutes when he got tier matching to Diamond. Hahaha

Well that’s @wanker751. Hostesses want him and hosts want to be him.

Last several trips I have only been approached by a "drive by host" while playing at Cromwell. Most of my play is usually at Bally's or Paris and I have not been approached at either in probably a year or two. I have been met by a host at the Bally's VIP check in more than once though.

    Congrats on 5k TCs at < $1000.

I too have been diamond for some time and never been approached by my host on the gaming floor, only through phone calls. Maybe next week will be different

Level DOES NOT give you a host. Play/ADT does.

When I asked about a host for my BFF, who had just made Diamond, I was told, when your play merits a host, you will be approached by one, either physically (most of the time), or electronically.

If there is a host on the floor who in "hungry" and sees that you, as a Diamond, are logged in and playing, they might stop by.

That's how I got my first 7* host. I had a host in Reno, but none in Las Vegas. I was playing slots at Caesars, when someone came up to me an introduced himself. He asked if I had a host in Las Vegas, and when I said "no", he volunteered to be mine.

As it turns out, (I'm guessing much of this) he was a marketing guy "in between" assignments. He stayed my host for about a year, then went on to a Marketing position at Rio.

You did 5,000 TCs in a day and "only" lost $1,000? That's pretty good considering Harrahs VP inventory is typically no better than 98% or so, and that while waiting for the royal, you're expected to lose about 2% more.

The "V" word is always a lightning rod for me, since it gets so little mention. I'm guessing from your username that you're an accountant (and you may guess from mine that I'm a fish!), so it's probably an easy matter to figure the variance V from the following formula:

    multivar.png

where N is the number of hands, D is the variance on the deal, and R is the variance on the draw. As a rule of thumb, approx.png so

    finish.png

For full-pay jacks or better, D is about 17.5. On a ten-play machine, V = 350 bets squared. The equivalent single-hand dollar-level variance assuming multiplay quarters is 350 / ($5 / $1.25)**2, or 21.9, which is about as volatile as bonus poker and less (!) volatile than deuces wild.

My Stats prof in grad school would be beaming at your analysis right now! LOL

As I stated in an earlier post:

Most of my VP play was multi handed 9/5 (which is the best that I can find at reasonable limits that still gives 1 TC per $10). Probably about a fifth of my play was 6/5 bonus hundred play at 2 cents (so one hand is exactly equal to 1 TC).

I played 16 hands at the quarter level, which works out to exactly 2 TC's per hand. I didn't get a Royal that day at quarters, although I think that I did get one at the two cent 6/5 bonus level (worth $80). One thing that helped me was that I was dealt 4 10's on the 6/5 bonus (worth $250). When you consider that about 500-600 TC's was penny slots, I did really well on VP (which had an expected blended percentage over a little over 97%). Since I had about 5400 give or take TC's for the day, my expected loss should been VP (4800 * 10* 03) = $1440 plus slots (600 * 5 *.10) = $300 for a total of $ 1740. I lost roughly half that amount with only one $80 Royal, especially since a Royal makes up close to 2% of total expected payback. Over all, a good day.
