Hello, a little credibility....I stay at the Gate twice a year and have for the past 5 years or so. I think you have made an EXCELLENT choice. There is nothing better than the free room at the Gate, other than a free SUITE at the Gate lol.

I would recommend you HIGHLY consider upgrading your stay to a suite. You will pay a $60 Upgrade fee and that is it (other than taxes). The suties are well worth and have everything you require. Trust me, it is well worth it.

Gambling at the Gate is cheap, $5 blackjack and craps....you are out of the hotel and on Fremont in 3 minutes or less, The only negative is the lack of dining, but you can walk to a million places within 10 minutes or so.

I haven't read any of the replies before posting this, will read them now as I assume any other concerns or issues will have been addressed. Get a Suite, thank me later :)

I have the free offer also, and when I booked, I asked for the suite.
I DO plan on giving up to 3k-4k play per ea of my 2 days/nights.
I would like to have a host check my play to see if I can get the suite comped.
Shall I just ask for a host, host office, or Tim or ???

The casino host office is located near the hotel checkin, and is usually manned by a host most of the day/evening. It kind of depends on who the host on Duty is.
    what is "play per ea"?

Although I didn't post that, I'm guessing it means they plan to run 3-4 k per day, each day, of their stay. Looks like 2 days, to me.

OK...so, I haven't stayed in every "standard" room at Golden Gate, but I have stayed in three of them.
    1. No climate control. If it's really cold out, that's not a problem. The heat will be "on", but you can turn it off. A/C is not an option. Deluxe rooms & suites don't have this problem, but beware - the climate control in the suite is 'motion activated', so you may have to wait a little while after you get in your room before the temp is where you want it.
    2. The bathroom door will not open completely, (it hits the toilet) so squeezing in can cause trouble for some. If you're 'slender-ish', it won't be a problem.
    3. Finding the right setting for the shower is a Mensa-worthy challenge. A millimeter in one direction or the other will either scald you or turn you into a popsicle. It can be done, but it's sort-of like "dice-setting" - you will struggle to find success.
    4. The beds are quite comfortable!
    5. Ask for an interior facing room as high & as far back from Fremont as possible. If you smoke, do NOT ask for a smoking room! Just deal with not smoking in your room, as all of the smoking rooms are on the second floor, facing Fremont.
    6. Ask about upgrading... I've never stayed in a deluxe room, but I've been in the suites a couple of times (back-end comped, weeknights). Definitely worth it.
    7. On a comped stay, there is no resort fee, and that rides with you even on a "paid" upgrade...but you will have to pay $10/day for wi-fi, if you want it.

Thanks for all the GG info, all you repliers!

I have never stayed at GG, but I did see a regular room, and would never stay in it over MSS or The Cal.

You guys are just wealth(s) of information. I knew I'd get the low down. Thank you so much!

I'm happy to say arrangements have already been made and the bf and I will not be tripping over each other, lol. We'll be living the suite life at GG. I'm looking forward to giving them a try.

Again, thank you all for all the replies!

I had some fun and looked up some distances on google maps.

MGM is ~1700' from the front entrance to the back door to the pool area and that's as the crow flies. It'll be further once you count the twists and bends of the casino and retail areas you have to walk through.

The entire length of the Fremont Street canopy area is only ~1400'.

But yeah, big thumbs up on GG, especially the suites. It's very cool to be able to get from your room to the street in under 2 minutes. I also like Cromwell for that same reason on the strip.

Not much VP, best is at the bar IMO, and very very good comped drinks!

There isn't any FP VP at the bar. Best I found is 98% DDB and DB.

There's 8/5 BP slants in the back where Dupar's used to be. At the quarter level it's a progressive which is linked to the D too.

Yeah, those progressive 8/5 BP are sort of hidden, but are hands down the best VP at GG. Since they are now connected to the D's Vue Bar, the progressives rise a lot faster and they are often +100% EV.

The HL room has .25 cent multi play and .25 single play Carny games like Ult X and Dream Card. I've had some huge hits on DC in there and also hit a royal on DC straight up. I am a fan of the GG regardless of that. I love the bar tops there.
