What year was your very first stay in a Las Vegas strip hotel and which hotel was it?

2014 Bellagio.

 

1995 at San Remo (just off strip) which subsequently became Hooters and then OYO. For an actual on-Strip property it was 2,000 at the Luxor. But that was also the last time I stayed on the Strip. i.e. most visits before then and all visits after then I stayed at off-Strip properties, which is my personal preference.

 

1995-- Excallibur

 

1982 Caesars Palace. 1st stay on the strip.. Went out to get married. $500 for 2 w/air &room on a GO-GO tours junket from JFK. They gave us a honeymoon suite with round bed and round mirror on the ceiling, white baby grand, wet bar and a big fountain with lion's heads spouting water. Both the nicest and tackiest place I've ever stayed. Enough goldenrod to make me snesze and I'm not allergic to anything. Way over the top.

 

My first trip was November 2011 and we stayed at Luxor. It took me 31 years to go to Vegas so now I am making up for lost time by going as often as I can!
I love the different Casino / Hotel option and try to stay at a different one each time! My next trip will be number 10 for my 40th birthday....don’t have it booked yet but I am already getting excited for April!

 

1996 at the Imperial Palace.

 

1997....Excalibur. There with a large group of friends for a wedding.

 

1975..Flamingo capri….was where the linq is now..man the place has changed over the years....have stayed at numerous places that not longer exist....Flamingo Capri..Dunes..Sands...Landmark..Alladin...Hacienda...Frontier..and many that are still there but different names....wow

Nov-Dec 2010 Tropicana. Had gotten divorced in Feb 2010 and I remember not telling my ex wife I was going and turning on my phone on a tram at the airport and her leaving me a scathing voicemail

 

1981 - The Riv.

 

Long time downtown person and I finally stayed on the strip in 2019 at the Mirage. The property was pretty impressive.

 

Mid 1970's as a teenager, the family towed an RV from western Canada to LA during the summer. Stopped in Vegas at a KOA, no AC and it's 100 at midnight. Spent most of the night in the pool... like the rest of the park. No one could sleep. The next night we stayed at the Marina before heading west. As an adult, started with lots of visits to Imperial Palace. Any canucks out there remember booking with Lew Miles Las Vegas??

 

May 1995, Riviera.

 

2000 MGM Grand, with family on vacation(I was in 7th grade). First time being 21 was at Monte Carlo.

 

December1992 at Circus Circus manor rooms. Hated Circus Circus but fell in love with Las Vegas and moved here 6 years ago

 

First adult stay was early 2010, Sahara. I did all the dumb things that 21 year olds do on their first trip to Vegas. I've learned a lot since then; now I'm much better at it.

 

First stay, 1994, Flamingo.
Latest stay, 2014, Encore.
In those twenty years I went more than six dozen times. Since the last time I keep trying to find an excuse to go back. If I knew I was going to win, I would go tomorrow.

 

1993 Mirage

 

I breezed through Vegas on one nighters at The Palms and Rio in 2002 and 2003. I wasn't there on vacation but as a touring musician passing through so I really didn't take it in. Don't get me wrong, it made a hell of an impression but my focus was elsewhere.

My first real trip was with my then GF, now wife, in 2009. We stayed at the Mirage and it was just magical. There's really something to be said about doing anything for the first time and on that trip and for a few thereafter there were a lot of firsts.

Every time we walked into a new casino, it was a first. Most resorts on the strip would be a major anchor property anywhere else in the world. To have like a couple dozen of them right in row is overwhelming in a good way.

That's something you don't get back unless you go on a 20 year hiatus or something and wait for the town to re-invent itself. I miss having new places on the strip and downtown to explore.
