    I.M. Hipp (Nebraska)
Wonder Monds - Full name was Wonderful Terrific Monds Jr. (Nebraska)
    Ndamukong Suh (Nebraska)
    Pooh Bear Williams (Florida State)
    Captain Munnerlyn (South Carolina)
    Barkevious Mingo (LSU)
    Ha Ha Clinton Dix (Alabama)
    D’Brickashaw Ferguson (Virginia)

It’s not a football name but Dick Trickle in NASCAR was the best. There was a rule (probably a lawsuit) that they couldn’t mention him by name about what place he came in unless it was a top X finish. So they’d always say “and you know who” finished X. The. They’d have it in the results graphic.

We had a player at Florida State named Mister Alexander. I have season tickets in the immediate proximity of single game tickets sold to visiting teams and heard a lot of visiting fans wondering aloud what is his first name when they would say his name over the PA system.

The only player I can think of who had his first name on the back of his jersey without any mention of his last name.

Here are some names I remember from the Canadian Football League:

    Buck Pierce
    Charles Assman
    Horace Morris
    Amara Kamara
    Kevin Smellie
    Buster Rhymes
    Pat Woodcock
    Dick Curl
    Patrick Kabongo

Or a couple players with interesting nicknames that seldom, if ever, were referred to by their real names:
    Gizmo Williams (Henry Williams)
    Pinball Clemons (Michael Clemons)
    Bear Woods (Jonathan Woods)
    Cookie Gilchrist (Charlton Chester Gilchrist)

Remember him well. Played his college ball at Nebraska, can't recall if he played in the League.

Here's mine from way back: Bronko Nagurski.

Perhaps in football, but in basketball, there was "Akeem"... they not only used this instead of his last name, but they even dropped the "H" in 'Hakeem':

Drafted by the Falcons in 1980, cut, signed by the Raiders, played 1 game.

He was the career rushing leader at Nebraska, when he graduated, with 3,040. Only to be bettered by Heisman Trophy winner Mike Rozier with 4,780 a few years later. Hipp is listed, per wikipedia, 10th on the All-Time list.

    Yes, I'm a Husker fan... :) GBR!

His given first name was in fact Akeem. He himself added the H when he converted to Islam was my understanding.

Florida State used to have a WR named Dakoty Fagg. Mississippi St. had an OL named Pork Chop Womack.

Ben Gay. I'm still on the fence as to if this his real name.
