    My Trip Report

Solo trip staying at Golden Nugget (GN). Flew SWA with no issues on either flight.

Check-in was a breeze with VIP Desk, there was no line. Gold Tower (GT) 17th floor king overlooking the pool. Quite room once the pool closed. FF952081-889B-4EAE-840F-FA0CF5E3ACFC.jpeg 5A76696F-3E49-44D7-8B9F-6A6698D63305.jpeg 315DD8B2-ABE9-4810-9E45-A24FE5475240.jpeg

On Oct. 3 I picked up my Bikefest packet and then took a Lyft to Barrett-Jackson (BJ) at Mandalay Bay
    by way of Delano.

Long walk to BJ, about a mile, long line to get through security. Lots of folks for BJ plus a large convention right next door.

BJ is all inside in a huge “warehouse” area. The auction is held at one end with the rest of the area filled with cars, I believe just short of 200 cars.

I started at the opposite end and worked my way to the auction area. Every car you can imagine was represented. Here are few of them. Oops I don’t know what happened duplicated the photos.

Leaving MB I had issues, got redirected to Lyft pick up sites 3 times, finally found a cab to get back to GN. My phone showed I had walked over 7 miles while attending BJ.

One common feature of the cars - supreme paint! Wow paint looked like you could reach deep into it and not reach the bottom. Also engines, most of the cars were not stock.

That’s the new mid-engine Corvette. A 1953 Corvette is above it, the first year model.

Vegas Bikefest was fun but didn’t seem to have been attended like it was last year. It did make getting around easier. Enjoyed the bands. A few of the bikes. 24E93F4D-A8C6-4170-BCD8-7FA5506439FA.jpeg D1C77BC3-6A4B-4EE1-ABE5-9C0624AE8C0F.jpeg 5E6CF0FB-6A9E-4586-AFD4-9A42EB51FD08.jpeg 05B3ED85-4B7A-4811-8AFA-E0A2C02FBDEA.jpeg

I had a great time. Did get to Flippin’ Good Chicken, Burgers, Beer for the Nashville Hot Chicken and a Shake.

GN has some very good restaurants and I enjoyed their buffet. First night I went to the buffet. They had prime rib which was very good, it was rare like I like it.

Claim Jumper was average, Cadillac Mexican Kitchen was very good. Grotto Italian Ristorante and Chart House have great happy hour treats. Best overall meal was at Lillie’s Asian Cuisine. Food was great and the customer service was excellent.

Location of the GT/my room was great with easy access to wherever I was going, Fremont Street, Bikefest or the restaurants.

Nice report. One of these years I’ll make it out to one of the car auctions.

@Kobra2848 I had always wanted to attend BJ, but it was usually a week before Bikefest. This year they were both on the same weekend. I really enjoyed BJ but to be honest I'm not sure I could attend all 3 days. The auction seems to be non-stop and it's loud! I would go again to view the cars then record the auction so I could see what the cars sell for and more details about the car.

So many original ideas. One of the trucks had its engine right behind the cab, in the bed before the rear end. More common was stock body with a modern frame and powerplant.

Paint colors and quality of paint on most of the cars was outstanding!!!

Is the expected sale price of the car listed on the info sheet on the windshield sticker? So at least you have an idea if the car is in the ballpark of what you may want to spend?

    TIA

@VegasBJ I didn't see it listed on the few sheets I read, but I think in the book of the auction's inventory is a value range. You can buy these books at the auction or pre order one they mail to you.

The GTO is a movie car - xXx car. Paint changes color as you move around the car.

@casinokid68, New at posting pictures and must have uploaded the file 3 times, not sure what I did. I can’t figure out how to edit and remove the duplicates. The cars were impressive!
