Our annual NFL trip is taking us to Cleveland next month to see our Seahawks take on the Browns. We plan to get to Cleveland early Saturday and take off for Caesars Windsor after the game on Sunday.

Looks like a visit to the R&R HOF is gonna happen on Saturday afternoon. Any other recommended neat things to see or do in the area? Any recommendations on a good mid-range restaurant for dinner?

As a proud Degen I noticed Cleveland is home to JACK Casino downtown as well as MGM Northfield. Anyone with experience or knowledge about these two casinos care to share any information, tips, advice? We will most likely visit one, or both, on Saturday evening.

Hotel rooms are totally sold-out downtown so it looks as though we will be staying about 15 miles out from the downtown core. Parking info would be helpful as well, both for the casinos, and for the football game.

    Thanks in advance!

Jack casino downtown has slots, VP, and table games. MGM is a newer, nicer "racino" with only slots and simulcast horse racing but does have live harness racing on certain nights. Parking is free at MGM but there is a charge at Jack. I don't go to the Jack myself since it's in an old department store and it's like gambling in an old department store. I can't help with restaurant ideas because I don't go out to eat much. There are some good restaurants at MGM like Kosar's Steakhouse but I've only eaten at the (comped) buffet. By that time the Browns should be well in the tank with injuries and suspensions and defeats so you'll enjoy the victory.

I forgot to add that there's a Jack racino nearby. Not to be confused with the real Jack casino downtown. Sketchy area, avoid. I also forgot to recommend the Pro Football HOF in Canton about an hour south of Cleveland.

    Thanks for the info!
The football HOF would be awesome to visit... might not have time to fit it in this trip but will make note for the future.

Thanks for the info, East 4th looks cool!
Do you think we would be able to park at the casino garage on Sunday morning for free if we put up 500 points on the players card either before or after the game? Shouldn't be too difficult at 3 points per dollar. Just not sure if they won't allow it because of the 'special event'.

Absolutely, do it all the time. There might be a Special event parking $50.00 SIGN when u pull in. IGNORE IT don't let it scare you. Print your voucher near the skywalk, before you leave.
Park in the right or north side of garage. Skywalk and elevator is in the northwest corner.

I'll give any helpful info I can think of since I frequent them. All three casinos (JACK Cleveland, Jack Thistledown, and MGM) are very close together and you could easily visit all 3 on your day here. 20 minutes from Cleveland to Thistledown and then another 15 to MGM.

JACK Cleveland downtown is the only place with table games, live poker, and video poker. Make sure you swipe the kiosk and print your validated coupon or you will be charged the full rate when you try to leave. Since you're going from your hotel to the casino to park on a game day I recommend getting there super early to park. At times I have seen signs up saying "Garage full - K and Infinity parking only" which are the highest player's card tiers who have their own separate parking area.

I personally like the casino the least since they don't have many slots I like. Since it's right on Public Square you will likely be asked for money, cigarettes, etc by the homeless if you go outside on street level.

Jack Thistledown is the racino mentioned above. Slots and keno only here along with live horse racing. I would disagree with the above poster who said it's in a sketchy area - it's definitely no worse than downtown and since it's sort of isolated there aren't people just hanging around the doors to the casino. Only downtown have I seen a woman's purse get snatched in the casino, been asked for money inside the casino. Thistledown is my favorite of the 3, if you're a slot player they have many more new games than the other casinos. Parking here is free, they have a garage and a large surface lot. Not sure if you smoke but smoking is illegal in casinos in Ohio, so Thistledown as well as MGM have outdoor smoking patios with slot machines.

MGM is also slots and keno only. It has the most slots by far and is the nicest building but I can just never win here and it gets super busy especially on nights with a concert/show, and a lot of them typically are on Saturday nights. Self parking is free, it's surface parking only. You have to pay for valet.

I agree with the above poster who said East 4th street, there's sure to be a restaurant to your liking there. Tacos from Barrio right next to East 4th are always good too for a late snack :) I also went to Flannery's with some friends, none of us had ever been there before and we all liked the food/drinks.

Have a great time at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the game! Please post afterwards and let us know how it all went!

To me, Jack downtown feels like a real casino and Northfield feels like an Indian casino.

I wasn't too impressed with the rock and roll HOF either. All I remember is just a bunch of clothes and pictures....not too much different than the memorabilia you see at a typical Hard Rock Cafe or Hard Rock casino in Vegas, or the former Hard Rock Racino that is now MGM Northfield.

If you are gonna be around for a couple of days, the Celtics come to town to play the Cavs on the 15th!

Thanks for the info @ACSCLE ! We plan to visit the JACK and Northfield casinos, if we can fit the Thistledown location in we'll check it out.
Our plan is to park at the JACK casino on Saturday and walk over to the R&R HOF and East 4th area. I'm assuming this is doable? Then we'll finish off the night at Northfield.
How early should we arrive on Sunday to get into JACK parking? We were planning for about 10am.

Would have liked to catch the NBA game but unfortunately we are heading out of town on the 13th after the NFL game.

East 4th is right next to the casino/parking garage but it's about a mile walk to the Hall of Fame.

Unfortunately I don't really know how early to arrive since I haven't tried to use their parking on a game day, I stay away from downtown during them if possible. Is it a 1 PM game? Honestly I might think 10 am is too late. If I was in your position I might consider leaving your car in the JACK garage overnight Saturday and take an Uber to/from your hotel just to ensure you have parking Sunday, then you also don't need to worry about not getting there early enough. Maybe someone else here can give better information on that, or you could call the casino and ask how quickly the garage fills up on game days. I'm sure they would be able to let you know what timeframe you need to be there by.

    Where exactly are you staying?

Everybody else has told you about parking, but there are some awesome tailgates in Cleveland. Just don’t be surprised if you get yelled “asshole” as you walk by. Lol

Food wise there’s lots of stuff on East 4th but that may not be your taste.

Well we plan to park at the casino Saturday, so I will ask around there then to see what they recommend. Uber is a good idea, but we're staying quite a bit away from downtown so I think Uber might be a little expensive. Yup, 1pm kickoff so we wanted to be down there by about 10am to take in some of the pre-game festivities :)

We are staying in the Beachwood area. From what I can see it's quite a trek to downtown from there.
I will have my Seahawks gear on so I fully expect to get some endearing comments thrown my way haha

If you're staying in the Beachwood area there is a rapid transit train station nearby (Green Road) that ends downtown at the tower city terminal attached to the Jack Casino. You don't even have to go outside. There's also a train that goes from tower city right to Browns Stadium. I take the train to Indians and Browns games all the time and it avoids parking hassle. Just a suggestion.
