Less Smokey- Silverton or Sam’s Town?

For my November trip, looking to hit one off strip casino. With that said, I’ve heard Sam’s town is unbelievably smokey & trying to avoid that. Is Silverton any better?

 

I dont think either one is smokey, but...I also smoke lol. Neither are compared to Gold Coast, that's for sure.

 

I don't think either is bad at all.

The smokiest casino I've visited in Vegas is Wild Wild West, but the risk of lung disease is a lot less likely than getting mugged in the parking lot.

 

Yes Silverton is better and I don’t smoke.

 

I've been to Sam's Town twice and Silverton once, so this is anecdotal at best, but I found Sam's to be rather smoky. Both my visits were during breakfast hours.

I don't remember Silverton being smoky at all, but I was in and out in about 20 minutes one evening.

 

Sam's Town is very smokey and I tend to avoid it for that reason... Silverton on the other hand has higher ceilings and is newer. I've never noticed the smoke as being an issue there at all.

 

Check out the fish tank and the Bass Pro Shop when you're at Silverton. I really enjoy the place. If you like standing in line, they have an AYCE lobster tail buffet on Fridays. It has REAL lobster tails, not those puny cray fish jobs. I plan on hitting it next visit.

 

I generally like Sams Town, and in general I'm not bothered by smoke, but one time at Sams Town is the only recent time I remember being actually bothered by the amount of smoke in the air. It was over by the Dunkin Donuts at a row of VP machines. I moved and then it was OK.

I never remember being annoyed by it at Silverton.

 

Sam's town isn't unbelievably smoky IMHO. Not like you're walking in a haze in the casino. I guess if you are sitting next to a smoker it could be hazy but if you are tables away or just walking around the casino you won't be walking through a smoky haze. IMHO, it's more smoky at the Fremont downtown or at the Gold Coast than at Sam's town.

I'm not a smoker and I hate smoke but it doesn't bother me at Sam's town. But then I mostly play craps so I may not see the smoky situation as on the tables. Actually I think there is a non smoking area at Sam's town, on the machines if you want to play them smoke free.

As mentioned, Silverton's ceilings are higher so they dissipate the smoke better.

that being said, I think if there is a high concentration of smokers in an area I think it could get smoky at any casino. Especially near the machines, if a lot of machines have smokers in the area it could get bad anywhere.

 

There are several of them, IIRC, but not everyone obeys those signs.

 

Sam's Town does have a non-smoking playing area if the helps. It is near the Poker room. I am a non-smoker and usually will play by there. Totally agree about Gold Coast as it can be brutal at times.

 

Sam's Town is not "very smokey" or I wouldn't stay there.

 

If you are a table player Silverton is better for non-smokers. The last time I was there the dealer told me that if no one at the table is smoking I could request that the table be made non smoking. I asked the pit boss and in 2 seconds there was a no smoking sign placed on the table. It was definitely appreciated!

 

Silverton is far less smoky. Sams Town is mostly tolerable though.

 

Having been to both, I'd say that Sam's Town is marginally smokier than Silverton.

Side note, may I ask why smokiness is the factor that decides which casino you'll visit? They're two fundamentally different properties, IMO.

Agree, I always do this at South Point.

 

I have to agree with notfromconcentrate. Any casino can be smoky if there are enough smokers playing the tables or machines. This is including the strip casinos.

 

But there are definitely places that, whether it's the design of the building, quality of the ventilation system, or the crowd they draw, seem to have a lot more smoke than others.

For instance, South Point does not seem very smoky. Arizona Charlie's Decatur does.
