I had a car too. Because of the price increase before Labor Day weekend, I took it back the day before I left. Lots of Uber/Lyft drivers in the area at 4am. There were also two taxis staged there when I departed, but that was the only time I saw a taxi the whole time I was there.

I've never seen much of a cab presence once you get outside of the strip corridor or DT.
I like having a fridge in the room for wine and snacks or a place for that occasional doggy bag.

    Good Luck!

You're going to like Sam's Town.

Uncrowded, clean and quiet. I didn't hear a peep during the nights I was there.

I'm going to make Sam's Town my home casino as long as I keep getting these free night offers.

I know Sam's Town very well. For about 3-4 years in the mid to late 90s, it was the home base for my 4-5 trips a year. Our revolving door golf group enjoyed staying there and always looked forward to dinner at Billy Bob's steakhouse. I think what set the tone for me was check in on my first stay there. You felt like you were checking in at a garden outside. This was also my first stay off strip and made me a confirmed off strip guy. Eventually myself and our group moved on to other locals properties, but my 15-20 stays there will always be at the top of my list.

    Good Luck!

Same with me. Sam's Town was one of my main places to stay in the nineties. Glad to go back.
Make sure and stop by Roberto's Taco Shop. That place is great.

I saw Roberto's on the website and planned to try it. I generally have a night where I just feel like taking something back to the room instead of doing a restaurant and Roberto's will do it. I remember back in the day, a good Mexican place down by the old sports book that had good food. I think it was called Jose and Miguel's. The deli by the sports book also had the best chicken salad san I've ever had. All the food at Sam's was great then. Smokey Joe's cafe, Billy Bob's, Papamios and Diamond Lil's were all great. The good old days were always so much better. Now, if only I'd actually hit the 4-5 royal flushes a day that I remember, things would be great!!!

    Good Luck!

I too like Sam's Town. Nice casino. Plenty of, as reasonable as it gets, VP and good selection of slots and table games. Stayed in the long-term section of their KOA campground for seven months. Totally enjoyed playing and dining at Sam's Town. Will probably visit on my October trip to Vegas. Kind of miss the quiet, laid back atmosphere.

They always had decent VP. Not sure of the level these days, hopefully good. The casino has always been fairly active. On our first stay there, one of our group dubbed the Ram's Head Bar, the "Rock Bar", since it looked like a large rock. Whenit was time for dinner, you'd call the other guy's rooms (pre cell days) to meet for a drink at the Rock Bar! We had a rotating group of 10-12 that would come on trips back then and I'm sure some never knew it had a real name. They also had a large western emporium on the main floor complete with a photo area that you could dress in western garb along with guns and all for a picture. A buddy and I did it one trip. It was kind of fun to do. They also had a large sports bar where the buffet is now. It had a golf simulator we played one afternoon after golf. This was early on for simulators and it was terrible! We had fun with it though. I'm sure when I get there for more than a couple of hours I'll dredge up more and more memories.
I always enjoy the anticipation of my LV trips, but probably a little more for this one.

    Good Luck!

Can I just jump in with a question - I assume there are some rooms facing inwards and some outwards, which would you advise? Are the inner rooms noisy? If you get a room on the west side can you see the strip in the distance? This is our first time staying there, although we visit every trip as we like it!

    Thanks!

If you are a light sleeper, like to take an occasional power nap, or turn in early, ask for an outward-facing rooms. The "roar" of the show will wake you up.

We always rent a car when in Vegas, as we visit many of the off strip resorts/casinos. Sam's Town is a must see, especially in December. The atrium is decorated for the season and is beautiful. Might be a little corny to some but beautiful to us.

I had a room facing the atrium and didn't find it too noisy and had no issues getting sleep. Nothing like the Freemont noise that goes on 24 7. Sleep deprecation would be a good way to describe my experience staying at the GG a few years ago.

There are no outer rooms facing west.

I'd advise the outwards facing rooms facing north (toward Boulder Station and downtown) or south (facing Eastside Cannery). There are nine floors and if you want a view ask for floors 6-9. There are rooms facing east, but they are too near the elevators. Lots of people walking past your room there. If you stay on the inner facing rooms, you will be subjected to the Mystic Falls Park water show at 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10pm. It's noisy and I like going to bed before then. Those rooms also cost more.

If you play video poker, Sam's Town has a great selection, including eleven 100% plus machines.

I personally would always choose a room facing the atrium. I like being able to sit at the window and just people watch.

The atrium view rooms are an upgrade. I used to prefer them, but work demands an early bedtime, so it wouldn't work now for me.
I'm sure they have west facing rooms. My first stay included a wonderful view looking across the Boulder Highway to a Long John Silver's location. None of the outer rooms are going to have much of a view.

    Good Luck!
