I’ve been reading more and more about people feeling intimidated by bigger players. I myself am NOT one of those bigger players but I do play plenty. They’re just another player...in my eyes.

How do you feel when a BIG player sits down next to you?

I was once playing blackjack down at Beau Rivage at a $10 table. A guy sat down betting two hands at table max (I don't recall if that was $5,000 or $10,000). His drunk girlfriend came and stood behind him telling him they had to go to dinner, but he wanted to keep playing. So she started loudly berating him, asking if he felt like a big man trying to impress the poor people instead of playing in high limit, and mocking him whenever he lost a hand.

Overall, I felt uncomfortable and amused in equal measures.

I love it. Especially when they are losing.

It’s intriguing to see huge amounts of money being lost in a relative short period of time.

I also get to see what kind of person they are.

I love it when a big player sits down while I’m playing blackjack - makes the game much more exciting.

Usually I just slide my seat over to the opposite side and let them have more room?

I don't pay it much mind. Big or small stakes, if the person's friendly, then I'm rooting for wins for both of us. I play more and more roulette (for the amazing odds!) and enjoy hitting numbers with anyone, whether they've got $5 or $200 on it. Blackjack is the same. If the person's nice, not blowing smoke in my face, and not acting like an asshole, then let's all have fun. For some people betting $10 is the equivalent of $1,000. If they can afford it, then we're all adults!

Once at Binion's I saw a guy get pissed that the pit boss would not raise the table limit to $1,000 from $500. My thought was wtf? Both on the pit boss for not letting the guy bet $1,000 per hand AND why the hell this guy was trying to bet $1k/hand at Binion's...

:evillaugh::evillaugh:I could care less - just marvel at how much money they bet!
I play $50-$100 per BJ hand, but that’s peanuts compared to people betting max:whistle:

I don't mind them at all. I'm mainly a red chip player, so just about everyone I encounter is at least somewhat bigger than I am, and I rarely even notice. One time I was betting the table min at Paris and a fellow sat down with an unknown amount (but easily five figures, playing a couple blacks at a time) in chips, which was the most I had ever seen up to that point in time, and we proceeded to have a lovely conversation over the next couple hours. When my bankroll for the day was on the verge of running out and I considered calling it a night with the 40 bucks I had left on me, he tried to throw me a few bucks so we could continue playing and chatting. I politely declined, threw my remaining chips down on "one last hand", and started a heater that took me all the way up to 2k. I was in my early twenties at the time, and this was an absolute fuck-ton of money. So between his much appreciated gesture and the subsequent luck, I suppose my one experience playing alongside a noticeably bigger fish was extremely positive.

It only bothers me when they're seemingly out of their comfort zone, questioning whether to hit a 14 vs. a face, for instance. Basic strategy doesn't change for the amount of the bet, so I find it interesting when situations like that occur. Otherwise, it's just 'chips' being bet and it doesn't affect me one way or the other.

doesn't bother me at all.... had an experience like fugsworth at the lv hilton back in the day...
playing reds.... guy sits down and asks to make a 1000 table.... i got ready to make because
i was a fng and didn't know about grandfathering.... so i stayed and every so often he hand me a green
to keep playing..... when he was ready to leave i offered the chips back to him and he said forget it.

pit boss told me he often does that and he leaves very large tips for dealers from time to time....

It doesn't bother me one bit. I am, however, amazed at how much money one can go though in a relatively short period of time.

Last week, I was playing MS at the Cromwell. It was a $5 table. I bought in for $200, played for almost 3 hours, and walked away with that same $200. During that time, the guy sitting across from me was playing $100 per hand and in less than 2 hours, lost almost $5,000. It's times like that where I don't feel so bad losing $100 or $200 sometimes.

The sad part is when you see someone playing big and it is obvious they are chasing their losses. Not a pretty sight!!!

My husband is a BIG guy so I don’t usually notice. If a player sits down “betting” big I cheer them on. They bring so much more excitement to the table!

Binion's used to be the home of many BIG players, back before Becky started making "improvements". The rule there was they would accept any bet, the maximum was established by the 1st bet.
