I just watched this flick yesterday for the first time.

    It is INCREDIBLE!!!!

Rami Malek is FANTASTIC as Freddie Mercury.

I never knew Freddy was Pakistani.

His wide range came from having been born with an extra set of incisors.

Bohemian Rhapsody was rejected as a single by their first record company as being too long and operatic. Queen made millions off of this song.

The other band members at first rejected Another One Bites The Dust as being too disco.

The final scene at Wembley Stadium, where Queen reunited for Live Aid, will simultaneously thrill you and break your heart.

We REALLY loved it too... especially my kids who had no idea about Queen, but of course had heard many of the songs over the years. Loved how they blew the Live Aid audience, hell... the world... away with their performance!

I knew nothing about Queen. Just before my time and not my genre. And I enjoyed the movie.

Saw it on the plane to Vegas--with captions.
I probably should've splurged for the ear buds. :faint:

I remember hearing Bohemian Rhapsody for the first time when it came out in the mid-70's. I think I was in either 9th or 10th grade. It blew us away! We were like "what the hell is that?!!" We had been listening to Queen already from the "Sheer Heart Attack" album, but when BR came out, it blew our doors off !!

I just saw it for the second time last night, it’s available on HBO. Mercury’s parents were of Persian descent and he was born in Zanzibar. “Paki” is a pejorative term used in England and Canada to denigrate someone perceived to be from Pakistan or India.

Mike Myers wanted Bohemian Rhapsody in the Wayne’s World film and had to argue for it. When the film was released in 1992, the song went to #2 on the Billboard charts, higher than its original release. I picked up a boxed set of 6 Queen CD’s, “The Crown Jewels” a while ago, great stuff, what a great voice.

Agree...loved the acting and music. Even though Queen was around my time, I really didn’t know any of the background of him. I can see why Rami Malek won for best actor. I plan to watch it again just to listen to the music.

I know in real life, he and his female love interest from the movie are together.

I saw Queen open for Mott The Hoople ( NYC )
Sheer Heart Attack was what they were promoting......first US Tour - first album.
The fact that I remember them ( as opening act ) says alot about them !
So friggin' LOUD !!!!!!! LOUD !!!! LOUD !!!!
My ears were distorting and it was impossible to hear much clearly.
I have Freddy to thank if my hearing wanes in coming years !!!!!
    .......what ?..................what ?............?
    .
Only saw pieces of the movie -
Do we believe Freddy didn't know he was Gay - as the start of movie somewhat infers ?
    Hollywood.......geez
" Your name will be....?.........Miami Beach !.......from now on ! "
    Funny Ha ha !

I loved the movie, but I'm a big fan of Queen. On of the big regrets in my life is passing on free tickets and an invite to go see them in late 1982 or early 83. I literally told my friends that I would catch them next time they came through. There was not a next time.
