Do you tip your casino host, and if so, how do you determine what you give them?

Been discussed many times, and opinions differ, as much as for tipping waiters/waitresses.

My hosts, for the most part, take care of me every time I visit a casino, and I tip a minimum of $25 (or equivalent in a gift). That's just me, and I am a notorious "overtipper". I used to work on the service side of the service industry, and I know what it's like to overperform and be underappreciated.

I will note that in the 60's, I worked at a full service gas station. I pumped the gas, checked the oil and washed the windows of every car. I was actually offered a $1.00 tip (a lot on those days), but I declined, but thanked him for the gesture.

I give gifts. Feel a little weird giving money. Recently gave my female host some cool bath bombs and a eucalyptus candle. They were all made in Georgia where I live.

I have a hard fast rule about tipping hosts. I don't unless they go over and beyond what I can do for myself. In the case of my current host at Plaza - she checks me in the night before so I have a room when I get there at 8 am. She literally is waiting for me at the limo door with my keys. She has tried everything under the sun to find things for my hubs to do while we're there as he doesn't gamble. We have a standing offer to attend anything at T Mobile in their Loge Seating. She double checks my room to make sure everything is as it should be. She handles any fires that arise while I'm on property and when she's not on property she has other hosts check in with me. She had flowers and a gift waiting for me in my suite upon my arrival for my birthday this year. She just does all she can to try to ensure that I have a nice time. I sent her things for her baby registry and typically give anywhere from $25 to $50 in a gift card with a personal note. I also, just about every trip, make sure I speak to Jonathan Jossel and remind him and her direct supervisors what a gem she is and that if she leaves - I leave. I know that there are folks on here that tip much more than I do, but I think that is enough at the level of comps that are possible with this property. When I was at Cosmo - the amount was substantially more, but my host could comp well over the marketing offers and the overall value to me was much, much more.

Over the last 3 years, I'm primarily at Cosmo and Venetian (machine play, mostly VP) on 4 day room comps plus $300-500 freeplay and $100-300 food. I email each host before the trips and ask what they can offer. Usually they book whatever offer I could book myself through casino marketing, but add in room upgrades and VIP checkin. I've never personally met either host on about 12 trips so I don't feel the need to tip. A quick email the night before checkout and they'll often pick up anything extra on our folio. I follow up with a thank you email after the trip.

Yes, I tip my host every trip. Between $XXX-$XXXX depending on what we got going on that trip. I do not even get marketing offers. When I sign into the MILF website, for every property it just says " contact your host". I get way more than what any marketing offer could dream up. I share.

I have had a host for about three years. Had a meet and greet to get concert tix; he was the only host who was not there. We ended up talking with his boss, who texted him to get to the DL. The four of us sat and had drinks for a couple of hours; the two hosts drank wine.

In the three years since, I have not seen him once. We brought him a bottle of wine one trip, but had to drop it off at the front desk because he was busy.

I still book all my trips through him, but I don’t tip at all, because I feel I am getting nothing from him, and I could get the same results by booking online.

Just a quick two minute hello when I’m playing could go a long way with me, but it has never happened, and we’ve offered numerous times to meet up for a quick drink or something.

I haven't but I should have tip the host at Paris who hooked me up on a comp'd room after my trip was over and I was going to be sleeping at the airport.
Great guy. I think I left him a positive review by name though =[

I had stayed at PH all week comp.d So I first went back to PH to ask if they could help me out and they proceeded to tell me I could book at the "discounted rate" of 179 friday night....... I declined and walked to Paris.
Guess as soon as you check out you don't mean much to them anymore.

Always since she gets my room set up comped. Usually $25 gift card plus a box of candy; next trip is $50 and the candy.

If all they’ve done is book a marketing offer, then I don’t tip. But the few times I’ve had a host offer, $50 gift card.

Every trip - but he really takes good care of me. I think it all depends on
your relationship and if your host is attentive to you. Mine is super - so I always
    tip him.

I do, but my rule of thumb is you can ALWAYS tip more next trip, but it's awkward to tip down, so don't go crazy your first time, see how you gel with your host first.

$40 gift card. Or sleight of hand cash. Prestidigitation is the word of the day.

I tip like @tee6395 based on what I get. Lately it's been a hundred in a card since he has done things that have never appeared on an offer and saved me that or more as a result. He has added my wife to the Bingo offers I get, comped us Super Bowl party tickets which weren't in my offers, upgraded to a suite, and probably came close to over comping a few meals at times. If I don't ask for too much outside of my offers I do $50 in a card.

@Cosmopolitan_SlotVP I am lucky to have a great host at Cosmo and wanted to tip her $100 next trip. If I give a card with cash is that against company policy? Does she have to share her tip/ cash gift? Thanks

I've got 2, one at the Cosmo & one at CET. I've never tipped either. Other than initially introducing themselves to me 6 years ago, neither of my hosts have ever personally tracked me down inside the casinos since then to say hi or check and see how things are going. The majority of our communication is done through emails and every now and then over the phone but only when I make the call. There were times when I was prepared to do so but being they've never reached out while I've been on the properties, even when I mentioned to do so if they're around, I figured screw it.

I give my Vegas and AC hosts $200 each year and my friends give my Vegas host $100 because she gives them a free room and buys our meal at the Oyster Bar. The free room is really off my play but they want to show they appreciate it.

I agree. If they make the effort and go above and beyond (last minute tickets to a one time event or something along those line) I usually stop by the VIP Lounge and drop off a bottle of Grey Goose or a $100 in Red Envelope my last trip of the year.

On a typical trip though if I'm just getting my usual RFB stuff I always give my regards in a email after the fact.

Come to think of it.. I usually only see him when a have a really bad session and he offers show tickets or suggest dinner at the steakhouse's chef table or something to make the night "magical".. :haha:
