I’ve been intrigued about staying at the Grand for a couple years now. I’m a long time Nugget customer but thinking of switching it up. The pool at the Grand is so nice and accessible, unlike how the Nugget has gotten.

Went over and signed up for their players card and asked if Curt (host) was working. He was and I had a great few minutes chatting. Spoke to him about what I receive from the Nugget and he said no problem.

The next day I walked around downtown for a few hours and stopped at the Grand. I didn’t play but hung out at the bar for a couple hours. Bar staff is friendly and engaging. Spoke to a couple of waitresses and found them to be funny and nice.

Returned around 11;30 pm to play craps. Pit boss walked over and introduced himself. Dealers were quick and professional. 10x odds on any bet.

Thursday afternoon I again ended up at the Grand late afternoon. Bartender told Curt I was there and he came out and said hello. Comped my 3 drinks while I was sitting at the bar (not playing).

Returned that evening and played a couple hours of craps. Again, great treatment from the dealers and everyone else around the craps pit.

Over two nights ended up even but really enjoyed the vibe of the place and how attentive they were to my needs. If this is the kind of program they always present then I think there are good things on the horizon for the Grand. I plan on staying there either next month or October.

PS-Curt says hello and will be back on the board after he settles in.

Didn’t know DG had a pool. GN’s has become a zoo, unless you want to pay for VIP.

I ran a hundo through the $5 BJ table. A lady was killer on the bonus. I played off the same hundo for about 2 hours and ended up about $15 down, so not bad.

    The music was incredibly LOUD!!!

@stevenotstu glad you had a positive experience at DTG. Good thing you did not play video poker since you don't get any points there.

I have stayed at DT Grand twice. I agree the pool is nice and really the rooms are as well. My only complaint was the noise that I had in my room during the day it was the DJ at the pool and at night it was the 3rd St stage on Fremont Street that did not stop until 2-3am. I am told they have quieter room, it just needs to be asked for.

Beautiful rooms...but I'm a vp player. No reason to give them my gambling dollars as it won't get me a comped room.

Their rooftop pool is beautiful. It’s $5 on weekdays for non-guests to visit. Sorry, I only play tables so didn’t know about their negative VP. They do rate your odds on craps towards your average bet, something not evey place does.

I’m lucky as I usually play well past 3am so DJ’s or Fremont won’t bother my sleep. However as another tread alluded to sometimes the most noise comes thru the shared wall with the adjoining room

I'm glad the Grand started charging non-guests to use their pool to keep the bums from "bathing" in it.

I stayed last summer and can't wait to get back this summer. I won money on slots, had a great time at the pool, and loved the basic room. I'm a light sleeper but with earpmugs I was fine. From what I've read the place only seems to have improved.

True. I'm a slot player and have only dabbled in vp. I find the slots to be quite generous.

Curt, so great to have you back on the board! Hope you are happy with your move. If the “stiffs” just allow you to do your thing it will please their bottom line and your followers here on the board!

Any public pool is basically everyone bathing in it although it's a little less disgusting, but still disgusting, than the bums in there.

I am a slot player also. Have you received any comp offers from the DTG?

I'm a super low roller. I've not received any, just some discounted room offers. I don't expect my low level of play to get me much.

Hey there - so glad to see you back on the board! We were sad that you’re not at the Plaza anymore, but we’ll stop by the DTG and say howdy next time we’re there! What’s your work schedule like? (PS We’re the people who brought you the homemade ranch dressing/dip).
