Since it’s the anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death, I was wondering what celebrity deaths have really hit you hard. As someone who has never shed a tear over a celebrity death, since I didn’t know the person personally, if I liked the celebrity I’m still a bit sad, I’m a human after all. The one that really hit me hard was Steve Jobs.

I'm still mourning the death of Prince. Was a early fan freshman year in high school 1981 until his untimely passing, he did huge amount of charity work.

My wife and I were in Las Vegas when Whitney Houston passed-away. Quite a shock to us as big fans of her music.

David Bowie and Prince...to lose that kind of musical genius twice in one year was awful.

None. You notice. You think. But none. Family or friends, massive hit.

Anthony Bourdain. I was such a fan, my mom heard about his death on the news when I was on my way to work that morning and she wanted to call me to let me know before I’d hear it elsewhere.

On top of Prince I was also hit hard by Chris Cornell. With both of them I was exceptionally saddened to think they’d never perform or make new music again. My wife and I were both hit pretty hard by the sudden death of Britney Murphy since we really loved her movies.

The girl I was dating at the time was also a fan of hers and VERY upset by it. I have learned that my wife was too but I didn’t know her then. I think it hit them both especially hard because they are also princesses :blowkiss:

Whitney Houston. amazing talent / gift. terrific rise and tragic fall.
Farrah Fawcett. so sad, she seemed like a real sweetheart. I was a HUGE fan of the Angels.
Prince, though he was never a favorite of mine, he was indeed talented and passed way too young.
    Ronald Reagan
    Aretha
George Jones. no one compares. he was the best.
Glen Campbell. so much talent and pitch perfect.
I could go on and on.
I love classic country music of the 60's and 70's. I will be sad when we lose Kenny Rogers and Loretta Lynn. I will most certainly tear up on those two.

life is weird. I have never even met any of these people.
I have co-workers that could croak in front of me and I wouldn't feel a thing.

I saw him evolving before my eyes. Loved his shows. I think of stuff he'd be doing if he had lived.

Bourdain is another one for me. My best friend and I set up a trip to Seattle based on one of his episodes and we saw so much more of the city than we would have if we had just stuck to the normal tourist thing.

I found out about Chris Cornell during a sleepless jet lagged night in Vegas. Grew up with his music as I was a grunge era kid. Surreal.

Celebrities can impact your life if you love music or reading or travel as much as I do. Some feel like old friends in a weird way when you've listened to them for 20+ years.

Farrah Fawcett. My wife was winding down with her similar cancer and I was following along with Farrah's battle, hoping that her passing would draw some much needed attention to the issue. Unfortunately Michael Jackson's death occurred mere hours later and totally obliterated any more mention of Farrah. Nothing against MJ. I'm a big fan of his, but it seemed like a lost opportunity to address an issue important to me at the time.
Prince's passing was a shock to me as well. Bourdain too.

    John Lennon.
Back in those days, I worked the evening & graveyard shifts, driving in Houston. When the announcement of his murder came on the radio, I was shocked at first...then, for the rest of the night KLOL played nothing but Lennon songs (Beatles & solo stuff).
When "In My Life" came on, I wept uncontrollably.
