My wife wanted to see Circus Circus since she hadn’t been back since she was a kid. That was a waste a hot walk.

Down $100 playing LIR at Harrahs. Grabbed one of these as a free diamond drink on the way through.

You can get those free for being Diamond???? Were you playing or did you just show them your card?

The Baileys was much stronger tasting than either of us anticipated. Decided to give OMG Puppies a spin since we had only watched our guests play it at .50 a spin. Hit a bonus and doubled up, been a while since we could say that about a slot machine.

Just gave them my card. I know the free bar drink thing is a maybe benefit of diamond status? It’s not necessarily in the stated terms, but apparently many bars will just give you a free drink? We haven’t tested it anywhere else, just figured I’d hand him my card for the handful of credits since we had already triggered a day of activity.

Decided just to do Bacchanal for my diamond dinner because we didn’t want to wait for any of the other options to open for dinner and didn’t feel that strongly about any of them anyway. Plus I’m never going to wait in the standard line for it, so this was our chance to try it again without the wait.

Overall it was good. Nothing was tremendous and service was non-existent. After our two buffet experiences this trip I’m more confident than ever that none of them are worth paying full price for.

Cucumber sour comp at Charlie’s. Played my hundred up a bit then cashed out when I came back down to even.

Not impressed with the slot selection here at Wynn. Almost none of our usual games, so we’re giving Buffalo a try.

Playing the last of our money we are willing to lose on the new Buffalo. The bonuses on both machines have been garbage so far, less than 10x.

That’s a wrap on the gambling. Gave Wynn more of a shot at our money than I’d planned, but we couldn’t hold strong and avoid chasing. Another thorough beat down on this trip, but we’ll come back swinging again next year like always. We ate least branched out a bit more from the slots on this one by playing some higher denom VP for the first time and LIR. Still haven’t played craps though, which continues to be a goal for every trip that I never follow through on. Starting to think I purposely avoid it so I always have something I need to come back here for. No live craps at the local back home.

Fly out to San Fran early tomorrow morning for a few days of hitting the usual tourists sites and some baseball games before heading home. I’ll have a few wrap up posts to share some more specific thoughts on this trip and how we’re feeling about Vegas in general.

Only concern before going home is that I’m noticing my Cosmo Identity info does not seem to be reflecting the right number of tier credits needed to maintain my status. It’s claiming I still need 4500 to hit gold right now, when it showed 11,000 before our stay. We did 13,000 this weekend, so it doesn’t track. If I manually add my activity shown for the year line by line I clear the 20,000 mark with plenty to spare, so not sure what the disconnect is. Hoping it clears itself up so I don’t have to reach out. We bought a gift card on our way out to ensure we made it over the goal since we find the comps and companion nights so valuable, so I’d hate for them to have a different internal calc than what’s showing in the activity detail. Probably need to be more like Chuck or Dailun and start keeping a spreadsheet of these things. My bankroll accounting is/was a bit of a disaster this trip.

So long Vegas! Our usual last night pics are from our Cosmo terrace, no real good equivalent from this room.

Nice report! Sorry the luck couldn't turn! And I might have to try this cucumber sour in a few weeks. A few VMBers have tried it already!

The bartenders really tried to discourage me from having it, apparently people regularly order it and want to return it. I’m not a sour drinker and I thought it was nice and refreshing.

Waiting at the gate. Deposited what we had left of the bankroll before going through security so there wouldn’t be any temptation waiting at the gate. We have never played an airport machine, and didn’t need to start on this trip.

I know complaining about pricing in Vegas is a favorite pastime on the board, but this is what a $400 a night room in San Fran looks like. Thankfully I don’t have to pay that rate, but I’ll take a Vegas resort fee all day when the overall value is still so much higher. Even with some the issues I had in the Wynn room, which I’ll detail in a future post.

Can’t see the door from the hall because of the pillar, and the furnishings inside would have been overdue for a reno 10 years ago.

    Post trip thoughts #1

Traveling with my sibling and her spouse was a mistake on our part. I know all the pitfalls of traveling with others and what needs to be done to limit the potential issues, and I just flat out didn’t do any of it. My wife tried to push them for some more concrete plans or wants out of the trip a few weeks out, and they were non-committal so we kinda knew we done for at that point. When they decided to go to the Taco Bell Cantina and let us know they only brought $60 in cash with them, everything sunk in.

Having said all that, they had an amazing time and immediately told everyone what great hosts we were when they got home. So while I thought the trip seemed disorganized and kinda lame, it was apparently exactly what they were looking for. I’ve got a bit of a reputation in the family for being a loner who has kind of separated myself from everyone else, so it was nice to be able to do something like this. We were just hoping we could’ve shared our Vegas with some other folks, rather than feel obligated to hang around while they did Vegas their way. Probably unrealistic to think we’ll find someone that wants to do the exact same stuff as us.

-We had a studio fountain view in the Blvd tower. The $50 upgrade fee is a no-brainer for us. The terrace doesn’t have the same oomph without the views, and it’s much better in the Blvd tower compared to the Chelsea. We also saved a lot of walking compared to our last stay in Chelsea.
-They managed to get a 1BR on the same floor as us, and spending some time in it confirmed that we much prefer the use of space in the studio. They were right over the Marquee pool, and they said it felt like they were in the middle of the pool when up in the room during the day, so avoid these rooms if you like to hang in the room during the day.
    73EF6BED-4933-4ACA-989C-AC9FE312638B.jpeg
-The companion process was less painful than I had anticipated. As long as I was checked in before their arrival they were all set to go. I had assumed that I would have to be with them to check in, but that was not the case. They also asked if I had any preferences for their room, and all I requested was the same elevator bank so we could get between our rooms without going to the main guest areas. They ended up on the same floor, which made it easy.
-As I mentioned, we had an awesome interaction with the front desk agent and her trainee when we arrived. I always like to make a connection when I can, as I know how much those interactions meant to me when I was on the other end. When we got the chocolates later that night it was a nice confirmation that they enjoyed our talk too. I always feel like they appreciate my business at Cosmo and this trip was no different.
