How would you like to be scheduled for cruise on this ship?

Carnival Cruise Line's Carnival Fantasy cruise ship received a failing sanitation score after a July 18 inspection by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The Fantasy received a score of 77 points out of 100. A score below 86 points is considered unsatisfactory by the CDC. The July 18 inspection is tied for the third-worst sanitation-inspection score received by a Carnival Cruise Line ship that is active in the US.

Unfortunately, cruise ships in general have had a lot of well publicized failures in the sanitation department recently.

 

I'm a Carnival Fantasy survivor!

My most-recent cruise (TR coming soon) was on Royal Caribbean.
Fantasy was docked at Cozumel when we arrived there.

Maybe she was getting a good scrubbing!

That ship sails from Mobile, AL but we have some Carnival cruises from two Florida ports.

When I hear something about Carnival and issues with sanitation, I think of this.

 

I'm still on the fence when it comes to vacation cruises. This issue is one of my concerns.

 

I've still not been on one. I will at some point. My wife finally did one. She had fun but a repeat is not high on here must-do list. I'm not bugged by the bugs because travel in general is buggy.

 

We were on a Carnival cruise with our family when the sewer line above the pizza conveyor oven in the snack bar broke. It took them two days to fix it and it took me months before I could eat pizza again. That was on the now gone Tropicale. All of the cruises I've been on lately require you to use hand sanitizer when you walk into the buffet. No Purel-No plate but that doesn't do anything for filthy conditions. The only problem I've ever had was the butterfish issue after we ate in town when the cruise stopped in Aruba. Had to tip the room steward heavily. I even left her an apology note.
