I'm planning to go to the Bally's pool. Pretty sure the $15 is only if you want to reserve one, like right next to the pool. Otherwise it's first come first serve, like most.

Well, I have been asked for my ID a lot, but I am in my early 30's and people say I look younger than that ... so maybe that is the reason. You will still need your ID for room charges, so either way, I would suggest bringing your ID.

I put my phone, ID, credit card in something like this:

    61wKxk8oHhL._SY606_.jpg

And then I just shove it my board shorts pockets and jump in the pool. They make them in all sizes but it's less and less practical to fit it in a pocket if you have a huge phone/kindle. You can wear it around your neck but I get that this might be a hassle.

A lockable bag/container that you can attached to your lounger and hide under a towel would probably work too. That combined with choosing a lounger in a visible area not off in a corner would probably be good enough. There's tons of things like that on Amazon.

Thanks! I saw all kinds of these on Amazon! But great to hear that they work!! I think I will end up going with something like this, and either skip the kindle, or just risk leaving it under my towel.

As an FYI, this is exactly the type of case I was using which leaked and led to my phone getting water damaged in my TR. Admittedly, it’s most likely due to me possibly not closing the seal correctly (which is easy to get sloppy with if you’re in a rush or drunk or both). So definitely not a defect of the case itself... though I’d advise buying one of these in a retail store where you can compare different ones and gauge your confidence in the closing mechanism to be sure that you can close it correctly at all times.

Side recommendation, I’d strongly suggest getting one with an arm strap, so that the pocket can be fixed to your arm as opposed to swinging around off your neck.

For the Kindle... it may be justifiable to upgrade your current one... as the base model Kindle is now waterproof. So that could open up a few options. Kindle-size waterproof pouches exist too, so that’s also another avenue.

Wow! I did not know this. I've had mine - pretty basic model - for about 2 years now. I'll have to look into a newer one! I can read my kindle book on my phone, but the kindle is so much easier to read when you're out in the sun!

Yup, it’s definitely a recent thing... and I know that because about five weeks after I bought the Oasis (top of the line, and it was the only waterproof one) which was last year, they suddenly came out with waterproof base models. Needless to say I was not happy :) lol

I put my key, id, and credit card and a $20(incase my card refuses to work)inside a velcro pocket. Its ok if they get wet, even the cash. Nothing will happen to it. I've even used it wet, and never even got a look. Do you really need a phone? Around a pool, I am more worried that someone will spill a drink on it or somehow get it soaked then actually steal it. I carry around $100 phones though.

Mine is like 10 years old, well worn, and still waterproof. Definitely worked better than I expected.

I would bring your ID, no matter what. When I have charged to the room, they've asked for mine. Also, I would only bring the minimum amount of cash, unless you're using a locker. Many of the pools have a small locker for a small fee. Most of the time, your stuff is OK under your lounge chair & wrapped in a towel, but you can never be too safe. Also, if you're going for an actual swim, there are only a few pools for this due to shallow water, layout & amount of people at the pool. The best pool for an actual swim is Ballys.

Only small thing about the locker fee, it depends on the pool. The popular party pools (Encore Beach club, Wet Republic) charge extortionate amounts for the locker ($100 to $200 during peak times) or the only lockers come with buying cabanas, bungalows etc. However, the 'normal' pools (Paris etc) are usually reasonable, though I am not sure about the exact number. Even the reasonable fee is probably north of $20 though, so buying that excellent portable lock that was suggested earlier might be the way to go.

$100 for a tiny locker at Wet Republic?!?!?!?!? WOW! That is more absurd than their drink prices....

Yeah, to elaborate a little further, they have a bag check outside the pool that is usually between $20 to $40. The tiny locker inside is $100. With big name DJ's, they don't allow in/out privileges. So if you leave something in bag check, you have no access to it.

I'm assuming you would have to bring cash for poolside gaming (if you don't have a credit line), you can't like charge it to your room?...just typing that out sounds stupid, but here we are.

Does anyone know the table minimums for the Flamingo Go pool blackjack and craps? I want to be able to convince myself that it would be cheaper than just paying for pool drinks...

Also, is there a separate Diamond line for the Go pool, or do you just kind of walk up to the front and show your card while everyone glares at you?

I can speak for the Flamingo Pool craps - it's almost always $5. Also, beware, the drinks are free at the craps table, but the service can be really slow. There is a separate line for Diamond & Seven Star Members, walk to the front and you will see it. You are allowed you +1 guest, and it's a lifesaver, since the line to enter the Flamingo pool can be VERY long.

Yes, this is universally true. I have played blackjack at Marquee nightclub and dayclub, craps and blackjack at rehab (when it was hard rock) and craps at Flamingo go pool. The drink service at ALL those locations is ridiculously idiotically slow. Also, when I tip well and ask for a shot and a drink, they always give me that on the casino floor. They DO not allow that at the pool even if you are playing black chips. So it may not be worth it to gamble just for drinks.

And as @EastCoastVegasFan! said, Yes there is a separate line for Diamond, the craps tables are $5, the BJ tables are 6:5 though. Also, you need to bring cash unless you have a credit line.

Hardrock has outdoor craps? Didn't know this. I thought it was only Golden Nugget, Encore and Flamingo.

The rehab pool area had it when I was there, but that was more than three years ago.

You guys considering the linked amazon item might want to check out the reviews first. 23% are one star and a reviewer posted a video where he very easily cut through the "slash resistant" bag with a butter knife. The idea is sound but there are better devices just like that out there.

I've only gambled by the pool once and it was at the swim up BJ table at Caesars which happens to be right next to the bar. The drink service there was as fast or faster than on the casino floor. I can't say if that is always true or my time there was an anomaly but I thought I'd throw that out there for another data point.

@Astribling I've also used a waterproof phone point + lanyard like the one that was posted earlier in the thread. Most of them work as described. I did have one long enough that the seams began to split with age so keep an eye on that and get a new one if that starts to happen. FYI, they make some versions that have a spongy type material inside that you compress when you seal up the bag. The purpose is to give you an indicator if the pouch is no-longer water-tight because the spongy stuff will start to re-inflate if air can seep back in. They also make larger versions of these pouches for tablets and I've used a couple of those. I don't take them in the pool with me but they are good to have when beside the pool for protection from splashes and stray water. The only caveat is that your device can get overheated inside the pouch if it is out in sun too long.
