How is Harrah"s now that the rooms have been remodeled ?
Have they done much to the casino ?
When we were there 2 years ago it was kinda yucky.
I have pretty cheap room rates which is why we have chosen it this time.
I usually get my best deals at Paris but not this time.
We go Nove 17th to the 22nd.
    Thanks for any info.

I just stayed there for the first time last week. The Mardi Gras Tower is completely closed and will reopen as the Mountain Tower By the time you get there all the rooms at the property will have been remodeled to the Valley design. (Everyone I asked said it will be completed by October.) I have to say I don't know about the casino remodels as, until this stay, I have only passed through on my way from Mirage to Linq or the monorail. They are replacing the marble floors around the perimiter of the casino floor. Here are some pix of my Valley category room.

I really liked the remodeled rooms. Nothing was wrong with them. The only thing that kinda bugs me is the half-door shower thing they have. Also, the sliding door is shared for the closet and bathroom. No lock either.

The sliding door thing sucks but I really liked the room otherwise. Go do some searches/google for the valley tower rooms - they are pretty darn good. It's not the Venetian, but it's better than the Linq in my opinion.

Do they still feel small? That was my biggest complaint, tho I haven't stayed there for a few years. Always felt like hubby and I had to walk sideways to get by at the end of the bed.

Really, they're going to be done by this October?? I had wondered why rates were cheap in November if they had a whole tower closed, but still strange if Mountain Tower will be open with remodeled rooms - you would think they would jack up the rates, but maybe they want to create buzz.

to OP - what everyone else says, the remodeled rooms are nice except for the shower door. I don't think casino is 'yucky'

Is there a coffee pot in the room?

I know this is petty, but even Harrah’s has better shower heads than Wynn/Encore. Crazy.

Construction projects do seem to get behind schedule, don't they? I think they were smart to close the tower. They are doing work on it (jackhammering, installation, and/or debris removal) from 7 am to 11 pm because there are no guests in the tower. Also, they avoid bad PR from guests complaints about noise.

    Unfortuately not. No fridge, either.

I just made sure the bath mat was flat and flush against the shower stall. I usually reuse my towel, but, in this case, I put it on the mat each day so housekeeping would pick up the used linens and give me a dry mat for the next day.

From the pic it looks like plenty of room to walk around the beds without having to walk sideways...unless your hubby is sitting at the desk and you want to go over to the window. But to have that space you'll notice they don't have a bench at the foot of the bed...so, yes, the rooms might be a tad smaller than a more upscale hotel that has a bench at the foot of the bed AND enough space to comfortably walk around the beds.

Both. The Wynn shower head is a basic Home Depot head.

I wouldn't say they felt small like a Linq room does, but it's an older hotel still - it doesn't have 500+ sq ft rooms like the newer 5 star resorts do.

According to Harrah's website, the room above is 300 sq ft. They've pulled the descriptions for Mardi Gras / Mountain, but I have a vague memory that those rooms varied and you weren't guaranteed a definite size.

My 2 bed room at Linq was a base deluxe and had to be less than 300 sq. ft as it was tighter than the room above. Linq's "Luxury" rooms are 400 sq ft. But it's usually cheaper to stay in Bally's 450 sq ft base room.

Harrahs comps are coming through for me now and debating switching my reservation since I like that area of Vegas best. Can get the Valley renovated rooms. Is it just the rooms that are renovated or is the casino renovated a bit too?

Trips in 90 days, will there be other construction going on? If so, I’d probably prefer to just stay put.

Valley tower renovation was finished over a year ago. Shouldn't be any construction going on in that tower.

They should be working on the Mardis Gras tower now, if not already finished.

I was just there in July and didn't notice any construction. I will be there in two weeks and let you know.
