So... tell me about the Ceasars Rewards trip to Reno. It includes the flight, ground transportation, etc. How is the package in your opinion ? we are slot players. I see that the casino is small, but it appears that other casinos are nearby. Any and all info appreciated ! Thanks , Bob

It is pretty small but not too small. There are three parts, west side, east side, and the 2nd floor bridge that connects them together. I haven't been there in awhile but the buffet there was one of the lowest quality in the Caesars chain.

There are three other casinos within a short walking distance, Eldorado, Silver Legacy, and Circus Circus. Combined they give you a lot of variety of machines to play. There is a forth casino, Sands Regency, a few blocks away but not worth visiting as it is pretty run down and doesn't offer anything worth making the trip. Outside the downtown area, its worth the trip to visit Peppermill and Atlantis. Those two are often considered the best two casinos/resorts in Reno.

If you haven't been to Reno it is worth checking out at least once.

It is a great deal. Not sure why anyone would not take it. We have done it multiple times. We try to get Tahoe as part of the deal.

Even so, downtown Reno is cool.

I have received several types of "flights to Reno" offers. I am not sure what you mean by "Ceasars Rewards trip." Many of my trip offers fly into Reno then give me the choice of staying in Reno or going to Harrahs/Harveys Lake Tahoe. If you have the choice, go for Tahoe. BTW, ground transportation from Reno airport to any Reno casino (and back) is no big deal as all major casinos at Reno have free shuttles regularly available almost around the clock.

Harrahs Reno is the oldest of the Harrahs chain - the original built by Bill Harrah. Kind of rundown, but the steakhouse is outstanding (better make reservations in advance). I also like the Chinese food you buy at the counter -- made to order.

Great opportunity but Harrah's in Reno is a dump. When we do the junkets we stay at Harrah's for a few nights and stay the others at Peppermill (although we make sure to play enough at Harrah's too). As FAB said, if you have the opportunity to go to Tahoe instead, take it. We love Reno but we rent a car and do a lot of side trips but we prefer to stay in Tahoe. It's my favorite place in the US. Gambling is much better in Reno but people don't go to Tahoe for the gambling; they go for the scenery. They will take you on a day trip from Reno to Tahoe so you can see what it's like.

Yea, I would really like to see the Lake Tahoe area. And it looks like the Tahoe properties are nicer. My offer wants to charge an additional $440.00 for Tahoe. Is there a chance of getting Tahoe for no charge like Reno?
Do you fly into the same airport then get shuttles to Tahoe?
Thank you all for the good information ! Bob

If your offer is only for Reno that's what you'll get. Everyone flies into Reno and, if your trip is to Tahoe, they will shuttle you there. They usually want to charge us for Tahoe too. If you decide to pay the extra and go to Tahoe instead, I would definitely rent a car at RNO airport and drive yourself because there are many beautiful drives that you will want to take. Even if you stay in Reno, you should still rent a car at least for a few days. Lots of places you can easily drive to and the driving is easy. I don't know what your interests are but we like all the outdoor stuff like hiking and biking. I can suggest some places to go if you decide to go the car rental route.

My advice: take the junket to Reno to establish relationships with other casinos. Harrahs Reno will be the first to go in the new merger. I was there last week and employees of 35 years told me it's over. The property is a dump, but there are many great people who work there. Peppermill and Atlantis are where you want to go---GSR has so many children running crazy all over the casinos--in the bathrooms deep where they are not supposed to be. The ROW (El Dorado, Silver Legacy etc.) is not worth your time compared to the off-downtown resorts. I ran $60,000 through a machine in high limit midweek at the Silver Legacy last month. I did not see one other person in high limit in 4 hours (no one works there) other than wasted adult babies playing outside their means at video blackjack for 10 min. I have hosts at 8 properties and was killing time. I still do not have an offer from the ROW. No reason to be downtown. If they don't care about my action....?
