    My Trip Report

My first Vegas trip as a senior citizen! No, you young whippersnappers and wanna be
    Hipsters of 50, 55 and 60 do
Not really count as true seniors!
I am legit! The big six five!
    Now, get off my lawn!

This is trip approximately 35 or
    So.

    Spoiler alert: the Royal Flush
Still eludes me after 22 years!
    Sigh...

    Quick cheap solo trip!
    Frontier Air, 4 nights at
    Main Street Station, 2 comped,
Just under $400 for room and air.

I chose the first row, window
Seat going, 1F. As I boarded,
A young man was in my window seat
And a young woman was in the
Aisle seat. ( everyone is young
    When you are 65! )

    The flight attendant, who I
Had told my seat assignment to,
Questioned the man as to his
Seat. Of course he was in mine.
As I put my bag in the overhead
Bin, he moved to his aisle seat.
But the lady moved out of his
Aisle seat and into my window
Seat!!! I said nothing, but the
Attendant knew it was my seat
    And directed her to move.
Then the lady has the nerve
To give me a dirty look as I
Take my rightful place on my
    Throne!

What is wrong with these people?
They knew as well as I did what
    Seat you selected! Wow!

    Finally, Vegas.

    At my room, checked in!

Made my way over to the Cal
To try the Oxtail Soup. I had tried
It years ago and not liked it. But
Upon hearing so many people loving
It gave it a second try.

    This time, I liked it!
On my to do again list!

Lady sitting two seats away from
Me at the counter gave the 70
Year old waitress such a hard time!
Claiming she did not order eggs
Benedict and now her visit to
    The Cal was ruined!

    Please! 99 times out of a 100
You know this whiner messed up
    Her own order! Leave that
    Hard working waitress alone!

    Late Sunday night arrival,
    Off to bed!

    Monday morning! On the
    Prowl now for marijuana
    Edibles!

    Googled a pot shop 0.8
    Of Mile from Main Street.
    Advertised As 24/7

    Started there about 730 AM

Walk a little dicey, do decided
    To Uber back with product.

    Security guard there at NuWu
Informs me only the drive through is
    Open now, inside access opens
At 9, but I can walk up.

    Ok.

Pick out some hard candy and
    Chocolate only to find out
They do not accept credit cards,
    Only cash or debit.

    Sigh...

I decide to Uber ftom NuWu
To Planet 13. I tried calling first
    To check their payment policy,
But my phone was not working to
    Call them. My Uber app
    Worked so I went ahead
And used it to go there.

    Inside

    Mistake. Same payment policy!
    Sigh...

    Uber back to downtown!
As we were standing still to
Enter the freeway in the Uber,
    An SUV squeeled up behind
Us and I heard a touching metal
Sound! We were not sure if it
Actually hit us! But later that day
I received a text from Uber apologizing for the accident and
Refunding my trip fare! A win!

At this point I had given up
    On obtaining any legal marijuana
As I did not want to rack up
    More Uber fees.

Off to breakfast at the Cal,
    Aloha Specialties.
Scrambled eggs, spam and sausage over white rice.

    MEH. Less than good.

Made. $40 baseball 2 team parlay.
One win, one loss, I lose!

Sat down at Main Street Station for
    25 cent 10/7 Double Bonus.
    Put $60 in.

    Got down to $20
    Then, in about 15 minutes,
    Hit four 4OK

    Up to $300!

    Played down to $250, cashed
    Out plus $190!

Forgot to get scratch cards, so
    Essentially threw away $8

    With my newfound winnings,
    I decided to try another
    Pot Run via Uber!

I made my return back to
Planet 13! This time, I walked out
    With some cinnamon gummies
    And some liquid berry juice.

    Almost $80 for both.

    Back to Main Street Station

    And over to Nacho Daddy!

    2 Strawberry Margaritas and
Some queso dip I head back
    To Main Street Station.

Going back by way of El Cortez
    And the Downtown Grand
    Where I Dropped $40 and
    $50 each on VP!

When I got to The California,
I tried calling you, but all I got
    Was 1992!

Sad to report, no high or effects from
    The Marijuana! I guess using
Pot 3 times in the last 40 years
Has made me immune to it!

Happy to report that as a recently
    Diagnosed lactose intolerant person,
    Using lactaid tablets with
Lapperts Ice Cream worked perfectly! Yum! I am alive again!

Around 3 pm, had the Cal prime
Rib special. It was ok, usually better!

Made a late night run for a Binion
    Burger. Merely ok.

    Off to bed.

    Tuesday, breakfast at Magnolias
    At the Four Queens!

    Pretty good.

Heading back to Main Street Station,
And losing 3 Las Vegas Advisor
    $25 Matchplays along the way,
I awkwardly stepped off a curb
To cross the street, been having
    Vertigo issues and ended up
    Falling down and got this
    For a Las Vegas souvenir!

Last day, Main Street Station buffet
For breakfast and then a couple of
    VP sessions, ultimately losing
    $25

    This time I remembered to
    Collect the scratch off cards!
$8 Thank you very much MSS!

Triple 7 Pub for a root beer float!

    Circa

    That’s it!
    Made it home!

Nice write, yeah screw those guys who tried to steal your seat.

I verbally said ouch when I saw your leg, hope you stopped at Walgreen’s to get some alcohol to clean the wound and bandage.

Enjoyed your nice write up, you seem to run even worse than me on matchplays.

Well just think your expected profit is like $16.50 per $25 matchplays. Your up like $49.50 in EV.

I got one of those Vegas souvenirs on my December trip waking from Hogs and Heifers back to Fremont...can’t blame Vertigo though, just a drunk from a dive bar who wasn’t paying attention to the curb for my fall!

Sorry to hear about your bout of Vertigo. I suffer from it too occasionally, and it is no fun. When I get Vertigo, I am usually bed-ridden for 3-5 days. I have to have all lights dimmed and no turning of my head or the room will feel like it is spinning and I get so nauseous. Glad yours was not as severe. Enjoyed your report.

Thanks @BobLasVegas for the report. I am thinking of trying oxtail soup myself at The Cal. Was there much of line at night at the Market Street Cafe?

Yikes, and the bad part is you now have deal with it on vacation, keeping it clean and bandaged if needed. Falling down like that is always something I worry about especially walking in Vegas. I've come close many times on steps or escalators dealing with depth perception issues.
    Nice report.

There was a line, but I was alone
And opted to dine at the counter
So I avoided waiting in line!

I love having the oxtail soup when I'm in vegas. I always need to have at least 1 when I'm in vegas. Much of the time I just eat at the counter (I'm a solo) because I don't want to wait in the line.

Now to eat the oxtail soup, put the parsley in the soup. Take the ginger and put it in a separate container and add soy sauce to it. Then dip/soak the oxtail meat into the ginger/soy sauce to enjoy the meat and ginger.

I also suffer from vertigo. I usually can tell when a bout is coming (had it for over 10 years) so I usually step to the side (or pull my car to the side) and wait until it goes away or gets a little better. Sometimes it takes awhile (like an hour or more), sometimes it is only for a few minutes. A lot of times I just go to my room and take a nap, luckily I'm usually better after I get up.

Not sure what causes my vertigo but after my dr. changed my bp pills the vertigo bouts have lessened. I would get a bout of vertigo at least once a month but after the change in pills I get it every few months. I also used to get it real bad when I swam laps in the pool in my condo. After the laps I would collapse and fall into a heap on my bed. Hmmm, guess I should try to put in some laps again, hopefully I won't suffer from vertigo so I have another way of exercising and losing weight.

I'm a light eater for breakfast so I usually just go to the plaza and order a big breakfast (no pancakes) from McD's. And I usually pick up drinks before I get to the hotel so I usually get a bottle of OJ for breakfast. I only go to the buffet if I get a comped meal, my prize for putting in enough play.

Excellent trip report..thanks. On a side note, you are a very young looking and fit 65 year old. I would have deducted 10 years if guessing your age, and my wife said the same thing. Clearly you stay active or have very good genes. Well done.
