Live Again at Cosmo/Wynn 8/9-14

Gone just as fast on Munchkinland and Wonkavator. Didn’t care for either machine, disappointing bonus and witch feature on Munchkinland and the new Oompa Loompa bonus in Wonkavator wasn’t good.

 

Have a great trip. Nice hit on the first slot, hope the rest warm up.

 

No premium hands at Chandelier, but delicious drinks as is always the case. Manhattan, Tom Collins, and the trashy favorite Mr Miyagi.

 

Then a desperately needed last minute bonus on the new Hannah and Heidi machine. I was in for two hundred and had yet to leave a machine with any money, so this bonus was a godsend. I’m still down significantly but my wife is still up a bit, so overall we are pretty much where I expected us to be.

 

Burgr across the the street at PHO is a good place to burn your $100 Diamond dinner. If you forgo booze it will just about cover four people.

Thanks! We looked at that one and are considering it if we decide to be generous and treat them rather than hoarding the benefits for ourselves. I think we’ll take them to Milos for lunch as a cheaper treat right now.

 

Used the Gold 2-1 at Wicked Spoon at the end of the brunch hours. Ate way too much food, definitely overdid it since we hadn’t eaten much so far today. Overall the quality was much better than on my last few visits, with the exception of desserts; but the selection isn’t as robust as the old days and the displays look a little sad with the limited portions put out. Also, they are slow to bring out the dinner items after the switchover, so be prepared to wait if you are looking to get in at the lower rate. I didn’t remember to take many pics, we were so hungry that we dove right in.

 

Something has changed in the comp drink system at the bars here at Cosmo. I’m not sure if it’s linked to a players card or based on game type, but it’s taking me 70-80 session points to earn a drink while my wife is having her’s spit out quicker. We both play on my card, so I’m wondering if they know they already issued a ticket to “me” and hold giving another out.

Whatever it is, we are done playing VP at Cosmo bars now. No value there with the earn rate we were seeing today.

The bartenders kept checking our screens and one mentioned they’ve adjusted some things with the new capabilities, so I’m inclined to believe something is different.

 

And the budget for our companions has been made clear.

 

Interesting here. I just got home today from Cosmo. I was getting a ticket about every 20 minutes while playing $.25 and $.50 VP. I actually couldn’t keep up the drinking pace. Just found 4 tickets in with my players cards as I was putting them away for the next trip. Believe me, I’m a professional beer drinker.

 

That’s why I know something is different, because we used to stack them up and now I’m going thirsty. I think it might be linked to the identity number somehow now.

 

Cosmo tickets used to be 21-24 points on average when they would spit out. I also had a machine two years ago just not spit anything out even at 80-100 points. Bartender just took care of me from that point forward and shrugged.

 

Not too much to report so far this evening. Holding our own overall, not getting up much on anything and managing to avoid a total wipeout in most cases. Only big loser was Kronos, had 3 separate free spin rounds end in the credit guarantee as I didn’t hit anything. Only sour note of the night.

When we came back up to regroup, there was a delightful little chocolate amenity courtesy of the Front Desk. We had a really nice conversation with the agent and her trainee when we arrived, so I guess we left an impression on them.

 

A little snack at District Donuts before heading back down to the floor. Sliders, fries, and cookie were all great.

We’ve never been to District Donuts on our trips to NOLA, yet we’ve now stopped 3 times in the first 24 hours. I actually think the donuts are the least impressive items here, and they’re pretty darn good.

 

Quiet morning at the Boulevard Pool

 

Loving the report. District Donuts is great. Try the miso bacon praline with egg on a biscuit. Delicious.

 

Not the mist extreme heat, but a couple of hours and a drink or two later I’m feeling pretty well cooked. Rest of the crew seems like they could spend the whole day out here. Got our usual Whip It and a Mural Aqua Fresca Cerveza which was a real winner.
