Afternoon weather will be above 100 F but it is a dry heat. Like everyone said, it isn't as bad in the shade when drinking plenty of water, but if you don't enjoy heat, then I would suggest skipping it.

Ha! No, not a vampire just love to read about them - think Salem’s Lot :wink2:. Regarding sunblock, as my daughter is a dermatologist, I’m always dripping in sunblock!
Thanks much, jr7110, for your very helpful directions on getting around in Vegas!:wiggle:

Not to derail the thread, but if you haven't already read these books I would highly recommend them - they are three of the best vampire novels I have ever read:

    Live Girls by Ray Garton
The Light At the End by John Skipp and Craig Spector
and Fevre Dream by George RR Martin (yep, the Game of Thrones guy).

One day it made it to 113 last week. I go to the pool after 4 when there are decent chairs and shade. Going in the middle of the day in the summer is foolish.

Most days the hottest part of the day is between 4 and 6 or so.

Yep, desert heat peaks in the late afternoon. The sun isn't as direct but the mercury continues to rise.

Yes, however, that is when the shade is coming across and people have left the pool and the primo seats are open. Get a front row. Drink beer, get down on that little step seat when you have to pee.

Weighing all of the options, the shade and the good seats are all available after 4:00. Unless you want to line up, which I don't at 8:00 A.M. and leave by 11:00 A.M. At 4:00 P.M., you have shade and don't have to sweat getting the direct sun, which is the killer.

I know you're not supposed to bring your own drinks to the pool, but what about water? Do you have to buy water form the bar, too, or can I fill up my big cup w/ ice & water in the room? I'm not a drinker, but i might get some kind of non-boozy frozen beverage (just one, gotta watch the calories), but mostly I just want water.

Roger that check for Kool Breeze in the shade by the pool in the late afternoons. Probably the best time to see who is not handling their adult drinks so well also.

    I agree with @Breeze147.
For me, the sun is the killer. At 6pm, the temperature is still at, or very close to, the highest of the day,
but sun is low, so there are shades everywhere, and that makes a big difference.

We used the pool at Wynn this past week and I burn very fast like 10 mins fast - especially on my face.
We went early morning. Encore's tower was blocking the sun... I wore SPF 50 on my face with a hat,
sunglasses and a t-shirt in the pool! Stayed no more than an hour.
It depends on if you can find a shady corner to hang out. Go as early as possible.
