    Sunrise today.

Logged over 8 miles walking the strip north of Cosmo yesterday. Slots have been extremely tight this trip. Plunked off another $500 yesterday with no notably wins in various sessions at Aria, Cosmo and NYNY. Typical for gambling in Vegas, looking to turn the corner today.

Dinner at Camelot steakhouse was a good value, especially with a MyVEGAS reward. Highly recommend adding the Make It A Feast option for $20 as it adds a soup or salad, one side and a dessert. The crime brûlée was really good and about twice the size of the typical serving (dug in before I realized I hadn’t taken a pic).

Headed over to NYNY afterwards to gamble and hit the Chocolate Bar. Susie our bartender had a great personality and kept the drinks flowing. Chocolate coconut w/ an Almond Joy (L) and a Chocolate caramel w/ a Rollo (R). Casino was hopping for a Monday night with no major event going on.

Today’s plan: Breakfast at Cosmo, hit some more strip properties for gambling and head to Fremont street this evening for SlotZilla and dinner.

Got into vacation mode and slacked off on this TR a bit. Flew home yesterday and already planning our next trip. Below are recaps on some of our experiences over the last few days.

Beauty & Essex – 9/10. Great food, drinks and service. Portions however are on the small side so it will be an expensive dinner. Anticipate a least one appetizer and entrée per person for an average appetite. With a couple of rounds of drinks and dessert it will be $100+ per person. If there is a birthday in your party, they will bring a complementary birthday cake lollipop dessert which is a nice touch.

EggSlut – 7/10. Good food and portions. We had the Sausage, Egg and Cheese sandwich which is about double the size of a McD’s breakfast sandwich. Lowered overall rating due to the long line (was down the adjoining hall past the bathrooms) causing a wait time of 25 minutes to order plus another 15 minutes for pick-up. This was for a Tuesday morning so I would imagine the line on the weekend is much longer.

Nine Fine Irishman – 9/10. Solid food, great portions and reasonably priced. Went back a second time this trip and had the Irish nachos w/chicken for dinner and bread pudding for dessert. Both were very good. Tip-the bread pudding portion is HUGE and rich. Two of us couldn’t finish it off. It is served hot out of the oven in a large bowl that is inverted onto your plate table-side along with two sauces - caramel and a whiskey cream. Pour both over the top so they can soak into the hot bread pudding and enjoy. The next time I visit I plan to enjoy the BP along with a Jameson flight as this should only enhance the flavor and help cut the richness.

Aria Café – 4/10. Big letdown as when we last ate there in January it was a solid 8/10. Service was extremely slow, especially for a restaurant that was ¼ occupancy at 7:00am on a Thursday. Bloody Mary’s ordered when we sat down did not arrive until well after breakfast was served and were mediocre at best. The Breakfast Sandwich bread had changed from a croissant to a bland crumbly bun with little taste. The Egg White Frittata had little flavor and was underwhelming overall.

SlotZilla – 9/10. Did the Zoom Line (super hero) ride which was a great experience, especially at night time with the Freemont street canopy lit up in all its glory. Bought our tickets at the gate however we did this on a Wednesday with a short line. Would recommend booking online in advance if you plan to ride on a Friday/Saturday night as it will be busy.

Cosmo Cabana – 9/10. Great way to spend a day at the pool. We did the Chelsea pool which is a little more laid back than the Boulevard pool. The pool was great-perfect temperature and no chlorine with plenty of lounge chairs both in and around the perimeter. The fee for the cabana is a food & beverage spend, not just a rental fee, making a great value. 2 tips – First, if one is available for the day you plan to visit, book the Promotional Standard Cabana. At $195/day it’s a steal. It comes with a fridge stocked with water and soda. You also get a complementary fruit tray. For 4 of us, we each had an entrée for lunch and 2 rounds of cocktails plus ordered 2 sides of chips & guac and went slightly over the $195. Second, arrive right when they open at 9am and ask for assistance with selecting a cabana that is right for you. It was 106 degrees they day we went and selected one that had more shade so we could escape the sun while not in the pool. Other than a 30-minute period when our server took a break and the other server covering did not come by, service was good.

Cosmopolitan overall experience – 8/10. Overall a very solid experience and I plan to return. Great room (one-bedroom terrace suite) with a fountain view, beautiful casino, very diverse food offerings and a good mid-strip location. At times had extended waits (5 minutes+) for elevators in the Chelsea tower but attribute this to the Sephora convention. Slots were very tight however and I did not experience a winning session.

Gambling - 5/10. Stuck strictly to slots this trip (didn’t want to ditch the family to play BJ sessions that can last a few hours). Other than a small bonus ($350) on a Rakin’ Bacon slot at ParkMGM no notable wins this trip. However, only burned through one-third of my bankroll while building some Mlife and Identity tier credits so I call that a win.

    Random notes:

The pedestrian bridge that spans LVB from ParkMGM/Eataly to the ABC store appears to be nearing completion and should be open in another month. It will be a big help in moving people on busy nights (i.e. concerts, LV Knights games).

Really miss the Grand Canyon gift shop that was next to MGM and closed in 2017. It was massive inside and fun to explore. We would visit it on the last day of every trip to pick up gifts for family and friends. Did we really need an AE and a T-mobile?

Exterior wrap of Resorts World appears close to being completed.

1D46096F-0B3E-4CAE-A3F9-6594654574D2.jpeg Very nice pics. We just checked out of the Cosmo with the same view. Housed in a 1 bedroom terrace on 54th floor. And yes, the gaming was not too good for me either.

Too bad about no winning but otherwise sounds like a great trip. And coming back with the majority of your bankroll really is a win. Your details and pics got me excited for our trip in a few weeks, so thanks!

Great report, and the pictures are fantastic!! Sounds like you had a great time. But an hour and a half wait for Gordon Ramsey Burger, and a 40 minute wait for an egg sandwich? No way I would ever wait that long. Me living in NY, we have no patience for things like waiting in line for food.:cuss: Way too many places to grab something to eat in Vegas.
