Having a Royal Time! 8/4 - 8/20 Solo, Semi-Live

It's Vegas Time!

I'm back! After my last epic trip (Cruise, Vegas, Napa, Cross-Country Train Ride), I started a new job and getting up and running sucked up all of my time and attention. But things have finally settled down into a routine and I immediately started planning my next trip. One of the best benefits of my new job is that it allows me to telework when I'm not travelling for work, which gives me so much flexibility. It's wonderful. This is going to be a working trip, so the hijinks and degeneracy will be slightly lower than normal, at least on the weekdays.

I'm here for just over two weeks and splitting my time between staying Downtown and out in Henderson with family:
8/4 - 8/8 - Four Queens
8/8 - 8/11 - The D (Slot Tournie)
8/11 - 8/15 - Henderson w/ Family
8/15 - 8/18 - Plaza
8/18 - 8/20 - Henderson w/Family

I'm playing it mostly by ear this trip, but I expect this trip report will include:

• Video Poker - lots and lots of video poker. I'm due for a Royal, I swear!
• Copious Alcohol Consumption
• Sigma Derby
• Hugo's Cellar
• Skyline
• At Least One New (To Me) Locals Casino
• Happy Hour Food
• A Distinct Lack of Sportsball Watching (I Miss Football and Hockey)

I'm doing this semi-live, which means random pictures/posts throughout the day and at least an attempt to get caught up once a day.

 

I spent the weekend out east for a family function. It was great getting to spend time with family and catching up. And best of all, instead of flying home tonight, I flew to Vegas instead.

Spirit airlines. Not particularly comfortable (especially since the big seats were sold out already when I booked), but it was a direct and it got me here. And they had booze, so it wasn't too bad.



My aunt and uncle from Henderson are out of town for this week, but they were kind enough to leave their car in valet and pass me the ticket while we were together this weekend. So I have wheels. In exchange for picking them up from the airport when they get it and working from their house on Tuesday in order to sign for a package for them. Pretty sweet deal!

I got in around 9:30PM and after a long wait for baggage (ugh, checked bags are the worst), finally got to Four Queens around 11PM. A quick ABC stop for water and spiked seltzer and I'm ready to start my vacation. By changing into pajamas and climbing into bed. It's a weeknight after all. This responsible adult shit is no fun.

Snuck down to casino floor for a coffee and a ceremonial first hundy into $ JOB. By the time my coffee showed up, I somehow doubled my money.

No quads yet, but the four to a Royal is already starting to tease me.



Back to the grindstone. Meeting High Roller Friend for brunch before he flies out this afternoon. Then after work finishes, I’ll be pounding away at $ JoB before heading to Henderson for the night.

We just had an IPA upstairs at the bar and damn I forget between trips how good those are. And they were also handing out these on a first come first serve basis as long as supplies last......it was great watching the counter spin.

Played a few minutes with my friend and am now up $225 for the day.



Brunch at Magnolia’s - country throw up gravy all around. Nom.



And now I’m jealous because I’m up in the room writing a very boring report, while he is downstairs hammering away at the VP.
