“My name is Rod and I like to party!” Aug 3-8 Mirage, TI, MGM Grand

No long trip introduction needed since plans other than where we’re staying are pretty wide open. That’s how I like to do Vegas.

•Going with my best friend, GT. This is my 13th trip to Vegas and my 4th going with GT. We fly out tomorrow afternoon and will arrive at roughly 6pm PST.

•Staying 5 nights. 1 @ Mirage and 2 each @ TI and MGM. GT and I will share a room at the Mirage, but then have individual rooms booked at TI and MGM.

•Bankroll is safely packed and I’m ready to rock. Have some free play at both TI and MGM to play through as well. Slots and VP will get the most attention but a few sessions of BJ are in store as well.

•Only concrete plans are gambling, pool time each morning and ensuring R&R. As usual, reservations won’t be needed for dining.

•Expect lots of pictures with short captions as the trip unfolds, but no lengthy write ups until I get back home. Vegas is currently offering -250 odds that I won’t do the post-trip write up. I’d hammer that action based on past practice.

•Safe word for the week is hhwhiskey.

Wheels down in less than 20 hours...time to finish last minute packing.

Definitely Yardbird one afternoon and the Mirage buffet for dinner one night. Want to try Public House as well. No plans outside of that. I tend to eat light when traveling.

Random Musings From The Airplane

•Crazy lady snuck some alcohol on board and then claimed they sold it to her wthey busted her. They don’t sell that brand of shooters. What was her punishment? Nothing. Why call it out then? Let her drink in peace.

•Food allowed in on the plane needs to be limited to cheese pizza and turkey or ham sandwiches. Someone brought on Mexican food and the whole front of the plane smelled like onions and burnt steak. “Stick to a dang quesa-dilla, Napoleon.”

•Cut the credit card application speech down from 8 minutes to 1 minute. “We have a credit card. You get miles for signing up now and miles for each dollar you spend. Sound good? We’ll have someone coming by if you are interested.” I took an application just for the pen since I forgot to pack one. Handed the blank application as I left the plane. First comp of the trip.

Checked in at Mirage. Room is nice although I can see why people say the rooms are small. I thought my room at Linq was small a few years ago.

Now I’m slowly bleeding that dry while sipping Long Island Iced Teas (henceforth known as LIIT) at the Mirage Lobby Bar. Halfway through #2...
