    My Trip Report

We just got back this morning at 6am. We had an amazing trip! I want to include my experience at the Plaza first which was the last 3 nights of our trip first, then i will start from the beginning.

We checked in on 7/25/19 to a king Luxe room at the Plaza. We were told that we were the very first ones to be staying in the room! The room was wonderful!

I loved the bathroom with quality craftsmanship on the tiled floor and shower. The shower faucet was opposite the water lever, so you could turn it on without getting soaked. Great water pressure. There is even a pocket for women to raise a leg to shave. We also enjoyed having the safe in the bathroom, it just felt more secure than right at the front door like parkmgm had.

The Alexa smart device was a nice addition. We only used this to get food suggestions and to turn on a radio station while getting ready to go out but it is connected to commands such as requesting more towels.

The TV and bed were both nice. There is also a work desk and two extra comfy seats in the room. There is a refrigerator in the room and it is in the cabinet under the tv, i love that it was in the cabinet and decreased noise that refrigerators usually make.

I have to say we loved the Plaza casino (this was our first time inside)! The Luxe room fits the clean, classy style of the rest of the casino very well. I believe the upgrade from a regular room to the Luxe is only in the $20-40 range a night. Next time we stay we will absolutely choose the Luxe room again.

The Location of the casino is superb and our Luxe room faced away from fremont street and we had zero noise keeping us up at night (while we love downtown vegas we do not hang out directly on fremont street at night). There are some very nice Luxe suites also available that do face fremont and will be looking down at Circa's pools when finished.

We also met with Gary, The Director of Casino Operations, he is an ambitious individual who is making The Plaza a top tier hotel downtown. Along with the rest of the staff, Gary made our stay perfect.

There are plenty of food choices in the hotel including hash house a go go, OriZabas which is an outstanding quick eats mexican joint, a chinese quick eats place, subway, McDonalds (only one i would not visit), Pop up Pizza, Brightside cafe, a coffee cafe and Oscars Steakhouse which is very classy and more in line with the atmosphere of the casino and Luxe Room.

We used the gym multiple days and it is recently renovated and has all the usual workout equipment plus some extras you do not usually see. We also visited the pool which was on the smaller side but has plenty of loungers in the pool, around the pool and even more in a shaded area. Oh yeah, there are food and drinks up there too! Along with pickleball courts.

Other notable amenities in Plaza are Bingo, William Hill sports betting and a party pit blackjack area which has windows looking out towards fremont.

A small concern i had with the rooms were that in the shower there is a glass splash wall that covers half of the shower, when you shower you pull a curtain over the other half. I believe the shower curtain is not quite long enough and some water goes on the floor and some sprays on the drywall next to the shower. I cleaned up after my showers but i would hate to see such a beautiful room damaged after a few years.

Another small piece of advice, we requested a late checkout and were given a 12pm checkout, i wish they told me my key card would stop working at 11 and had to be re-activated as we we were all sweaty from the gym and wanted to get showered and packed up before 12.

Anyways again i loved my stay and here are some pictures of the room.

To make it short here are some highlights from the rest of our trip.

When we landed we got our rental and had breakfast at main street station buffet (in my opinion the best buffet downtown vegas), we then headed to Yosemite National Park to camp for a few nights. We were already getting lucky and won permits to hike Half Dome cables. Basically you pull yourself up the side of a mountain using cables and no safety harnesses. It freaked us both out but we loved it. It is a 10-14 hour hike so that was tough too! Did another long hike the next day.

The next day we headed to Sequoia National Park. Found a yummy mexican food truck on the way :) We saw The General Sherman tree, the biggest tree in the world. Tons of other big trees.

The next day we drove back to vegas for 2 nights at Park MGM.

We saw the Beatles Love show which was great but we like Ka at mgm much better.

We had the Aria Buffet twice which we loved and the Bellagio buffet once which was pretty good. Hexx was worth the stop.

We headed over to Ellis Island and you get $5 to $500 for being a new member. I got $5 and my gf got $500! It is a lot of fun playing on the casinos dime! We turned that $500 into close to $900!

The next day we checked out the Secret Garden and Dolphin habitat. We enjoyed it and was worth grabbing on MyVegas.

Next we headed to the Plaza. There is a sushi place called Bocho Sushi up by container park which i highly recommend, they have a great happy hour. Their sushi is cheaper and better than Red Sushi at golden nugget and the sushi we tried at Mandalay Bay.

Again mainstreet station has a nice buffet which we did again for breakfast. We did the champagne brunch buffet at freemont too and i thought it was pretty lousy.

Back to the gambling, we continued to use match plays and doing some slots and we managed to go up $2k in our together fund! My personal fund ended up $150 ahead too which was great considering i was $750 deep on the blackjack tables my first night at the plaza.

I met up with EastCoastVegasFan!, a vegas board member here and he hooked me up with some incredible seats to see "O" at the Bellagio during the trip. Super nice guy and was sad that i met in our last couple hours in vegas as i am sure we could have a great time getting drinks and playing craps (he got me and my gf to throw dice for the first time).

We went to vegas twice last year and this was our best trip so far! The next nine months are going to be super busy for me but i look forward to going back again next year!

They seem to have done a good job with what they had to work with. I'm glad to see a company try to do things the right way for a change instead of the cheap way.

This is exactly what i was thinking. With Circa going in i think downtown will be more popular than ever and The Plaza is definitely not getting left behind.

A couple more thoughts. I used Plaza’s shuttle to the airport and it was so incredibly convenient. The driver was on time and it was a nice vehicle. Make reservations for your ride one day in advanced. Also check their times as it only goes every few hours but does go to and from the airport. Also my pictures did not include another full length mirror in the hotel room, my girlfriend was excited that was there. Can’t wait to go back!

Yes, that $500 FP bonus is definitely a surprise! I don't think I have ever heard of anyone hitting that before. And she turned it into $900 too!

Nice report @Tesseract. Glad you two had a great time!

Excellent! Your review has persuaded me to go for a Luxe room over the DTG in March.

    Any notes on the pool?

EDIT: Urghhh just realised they don't have carpet. I hate hardwood floor in hotel rooms. Are all Luxe rooms like this?!

The pool is small but the pool area is huge. You will not have an issue finding a place to lounge. Drinks are a bit expensive by the pool, it was $12 for like an 8-10 oz frozen drink. The black 2-1 drink coupon that comes with your room works up there. The bar guy up there told me that which was nice of him. Bathrooms are close by and there are showers up there to rinse off. We hung out at Downtown Grand a little bit and it was pretty dead and farther away from Freemont than the Plaza.

Only a 7 hour drive away to California, Yosemite National Park. I highly recommend it.

Floor is tile. There is a pretty big rug around the perimeter of the bed. I prefer this to carpet as you can actually tell how clean it is, but carpet does feel better to the feet. If you have never done the plaza i encourage you to try them.
