What off strip casino(s) do you like for gaming, staying, dining or shows ?

South Point, excellent and affordable restaurants, good gaming and mostly nice folks. They are also good with comps if you give them some play. I play around 5 hours per day of $10-15 bj and don't pay for anything. Love the place and it has been my Vegas spot for 12 years.

 

I really like Palms; rooms and suites are very nice, great dining, love the bar staff and you are a quick Uber to the strip.

 

Red Rock or the M

 

Lot's to do in that area Tons of shopping two other casinos loads of restaurants and a National Park.

I am happy to stay at any of several off-strip hotels and often bounce among them on any given trip. I always have a car in Las Vegas and distances are pretty short compared to any city I have ever lived in. I like each of the suburban resorts for different reasons and don't really have a favorite. I almost always pay out of pocket (don't gamble enough to be comped, so I am not really affected by the devaluation), and will stay wherever I can find a good deal. This tends to be at Boyd casinos since their resort fees are lower than Stations, or occasionally at one of the independents. I don't think I have ever stayed at a Station, but I'd gladly stay at one for the right price or promo.

Orleans for low limit poker, inexpensive pretty nice spa, and they often have shows I like in the showroom. It's my favorite location because of the proximity to some of my favorite non-casino restaurants. My wife is a regular at the spa and knows many of the staff people there and I think has a favorite treatment.
South Point for the sports book, Del Mar deli, and the Coronado coffee shop
Palace Station and Sliverton for the buffet
Tuscany lounge has live jazz standards every night.
Red rock has a lot of nice bars and restaurants with some good happy hours
Jokers wild has $1 craps and $3 blackjack. Can play there as long as I want without ever having to worry about running out of money.
Sunset Klondike has what must be the least expensive diner in the free world, whose food is surprisingly edible, and it's around the corner from a water park.
Sunset Station has a very nice bowling alley and I like the Gaudi style design
Palms has a very nice spa that non-guests can purchase a day pass for, which I often do. (Are they done remodeling yet? seems like that was going on for years)
Sam's Town has low room rates which sometimes include a buffet even for non-gamblers. I like their buffet for breakfast. Nothing fancy or special, but a solid value, the omelettes are good, and the beverages are included and still served by a professional the last time I was there. A nice place to enjoy a relaxed morning reading a newspaper at a table next to the "park".
Suncoast has big rooms often at reasonable prices. The bagel corner is good. Also they have a barely advertised free variety show on Thursday afternoons with a live band, which is very entertaining if you like classic Vegas entertainment. No matter how old you are, you won't feel old because you will be the youngest person in the audience.

I like the laid back vibe at just about all of these places. Most of them are places I can bring my kids without feeling self conscious about it, which i do about 1 out of every 3 visits,, and they have family-friendly pools without annoying music/daylife scenes. But I also prefer these places to downtown or strip even without kids in tow. Also, bowling, cheap movies on Tuesdays, and they all have good coupon redeeming opportunities, and free parking (!), valet or self, which is worth the price of admission right there.

I also sometimes rent timeshares on eBay, and a couple trips ago, I stayed in an airbnb house near the Stratosphere with 2 friends because it was about 1/3 the cost of 3 hotel rooms.

 

In contrast, I prefer to do my own laundry and appreciate the member's comments. Too many mistakes and problems(like time) with sending laundry out not to mention prices you could in many instances replace the garment at the same costs.

 

We will do the laundry in the mornings while were playing slots/vp,or eating breakfast, I put it in the washer wife comes later moves to dryer we go to eat afterward we pick up dry laundry put in room leave for the day, cuts down on amount of clothes we take along and really does not cost us but a few minutes 2 or 3 times we wash clothes on are trips, we tend to go for 10 - 12 day's also we do not have to spend the first day home doing a ton of laundry we have done it both way's and prefer washing in vegas at the casino's that have a laundry. Tried a vegas laundry once not our best idea but if there are laundry facilities at the casino we will use them. We do not do any cooking or cleaning on vacation with that I will agree.

 

Suncoast, SouthPoint, Red Rock and M. For stay we love the JW Marriott but not fans of most of the food there and what they did to the casino.

 

I like blackjack at Ellis Island because its a short walk from strip hotels I frequent and good rules + ok microbrews.

I quite enjoy VP and blackjack at the Orleans, mostly because I've run well there.

Orleans also occasionally gets some interesting under the radar headliner comics and bands.

For staying it is more middling but perfectly fine. I haven't stayed at any other off strip places except one night in South Point back in 2012.

 

We stay Downtown at the Cal on most trips. But we visit as much of the local casinos that we can. We find something to like in all of them, whether they are Station, Boyd, or independent.

Lately we really like South Point. The casino has a lot of different machines for slots and VP. We like the eating places there and the overall atmosphere of the place.

We might start staying there especially in light of how Boyd has changed their players program. Instead of being Bconned I think we would rather stay at South Point, lol!!

 

Me too. Although, thinking of trying GVR or Red Rock.

 

GVR and Red Rock are the best for video poker. Lots of the 100% machines I play. Also have very good buffets.

 

Palace Station and Orleans are my go to spots.....

 

GVR, Boulder Station, Sunset Station, Red Rock, Gold Coast and Sam's Town.

 

GVR is my go-to now, my cock-of-the-walk place, my Taj Maj-al, my sweet spot, you get the idea. I love the M, but they don't have the games I play. Red Rock is great, but it's out there and I've been scarred from soul-crushing losses in the past. I tried South Point, but they don't have the games I play. The Orleans was my go-to, but with the Bconned shenanigans and the smoke, oh the smoke, I don't go there too much. Yeah, it's the Super Walmart of Vegas, but I don't mind that.

 

OMG, I love all of the casinos that are off-Strip. I like the Strip casinos to walk around and gawk at all the marble. I like all the other casinos for their fair gaming, fair food costs, friendliness and occasionally their beauty.
Gaming: I like EI, 4Qs, Cali, MSS, RR, SP and GVR.
Food: I like EI, 4Qs, Cali and GC.
Beauty: I like RR, GVR and M.
Friendliness: Every casino off-Strip is friendlier than every casino on the Strip.

 

I like the Orleans. I like the rooms, although not fancy. Nice dining options, gambling options and a very nice pool complex. I have never seen any shows there but they do have the Arena, which allows for some larger events. But, they do have bowling and a movie theater for other things to do besides gamble.

 

I'm a big fan of South Point for their oyster bar -- it's not quite as good as the one at Palace Station, but it's pretty solid.

 

Red Rock. Nice room with great bathroom. Moderately priced dining in there cafe and buffet. Both offer great value for the money. The casino is an enjoyable faux rustic space. Staff is very nice. Good VP. Pool area looks great, but I was there in the winter. Like that alot of locals are there.

The M. Have not stayed. But when I stay at Tropicana I take the shuttle out for a few hours. Beautiful, airy environment. The VP bar has great staff. Many locals at the VP bar. Classy and calm.

Palace Station has been a long time favorite. Good VP. Liked the slightly grubby, old school feel. However, I have not been since the re-do and that probably changed.
