I think you parents being from SD explains it perfectly. They had the country music in them when moving to the Bay Area. Had they grown up in the Bay Area then it would have been a higher likelihood of them being hippies and bringing you up on the Dead and Grace Slick. I'm not using hippies as a derogatory term but the SF area had a large concentration of them.

I think you have me and my parents pegged for younger folks. My parents were married and had me during the latter end of the hippie movement. They came of age in the 50s. I'm in my 50s.

That's also the weekend of the Rock and Roll Half Marathon, although typically, the people who come for that are more likely to stay on the Strip, unless they get a room comped downtown.

Yeah, because of the game and tailgate party rooms will be at a premium. Not a good time to stay at the Cal, MSS or Fremont since lots of Hawaii people will be there for the game.

Lucky for me my stay in Sept is $25 a night for 3 nights, then 2 nights comped.

Weekend of 9/21 is through the roof downtown - Life is Beautiful festival jacking the rates. I'll probably have to go weekend before now

I got one of those also but they were for MSS. Also included was a Red, White & Blue Keno tournament, November booking incentive ($100 in slot dollars or dining credits), $10,000 Royal challenge VP tournament, and Viva Las Kiosk swipe and win.

Yea, did the swipe thingy, booked at the Cal. Glad I waited, now I can stay there, maybe double book at the Linq or Flamingo since my bil has a time share close by, so we are covered!

My oh my, I remember getting a room @ Las Vegas Club for $7 during the height of the last one. Ended up $11 and some change with tax. This was in the last hurrah of the hotel. I remember those searches for rooms, thumbing my nose at anything above $35.

I am really curious to see how the Raiders in Vegas work. Part of me thinks an NFL franchise in Vegas is long overdue, but the other part me thinks it's hilarious that the team moving there is the Raiders, one of the worst run franchises in the last decade. If there was ever a team that could ensure the experiment doesn't work it is the Raiders, especially with Gruden and Mayock in charge now. Also, if you are a Vegas local, look for a lot of pictures of this guy and his haircut:

That hair cut is hideous. Does he really look in the mirror and think...."Damn, lookin' good!"

He looks at his wallet and assumes the haircut doesn't matter when you have the kind of money he does.

I am not sure of the size of the stadium. But take away 60-75% (I’m guessing) for corporate and you have what is left for public consumption. I think the corporate access will be much higher in vegas as there are multiple times the need for client than say Cleveland or Seattle or Arizona.
I think it will go largely the way of the Knights tickets. But yeah, vegas locals and tickets may be a rare thing unless a comp or “friend” with access.
8 regular games and visitors for the away team is also a draw as vegas will be a destination vacation when the home team visits. Eeeeghads the prices.

Maybe he is preparing for the “bowl” season a bit early (year round)?
