The wife and I are heading to Vegas in a couple weeks and I thought it would be fun to change up the gambling/drinking style this time while getting to see as many places as possible. I was hoping to get a few ideas for the rules/ diffuse a couple of the problems that might arise, and possibly a good strategy for where to go as we would like to visit casinos on both the strip and Fremont (staying at the Wynn).

Object of game: Player with the most money at the end wins.
Rules: Each player gets $25/casino and has to have a drink at each stop (comp drinks are your friend).

So I'm thinking we can hit like 10 casinos, play slots if we get a comp drink the better off you are and you can stop once you finish the drink. Alternatively you can buy a drink and not play slots. The one problem I see is if you play the entire $25 in slots and don't get a comp drink then you are over the limit - maybe a penalty should be added.

Anyways thought this might be a fun twist and the creative minds here at VMB might be able to help with some of the rules.

Wife and I did something similar about 8 yrs ago. Spent an hour at each casino, had a drink, played a slot, and bought a chip.
I think there were 26 Strip casinos at the time, it took us 3 days lol.
Do it all without stopping it's called a Death March.

I know you asked about slots, but if you and your wife also play VP, I'd suggest doing that instead of slots. It will be easier/faster to get a drink since you can just play at the bar. Depending on where you are playing, you might not see a waitress before your $25 is spent on the slots.

Also Downtown would be easier to do. Shorter distance between those casinos. There are 11 casinos downtown. Depending on how long you play at each, you can get done in about 5 hours.

My group (usually 5 or 6 guys) does a downtown VP crawl each year. Each player plays $20/casino and we play for 20 mins and have a drink at each casino. We have various rules and we split everything at the end. With walk time, bathroom breaks, cash outs, etc., it takes about 5 hrs.

Wife and I also did VP. $20 and a drink at each casino. This was a few years back when they didn't have light systems and vouchers so we were able to get a drink and play 4 hands at $1 and bounce to the next casino. We went from Caesars and looped down to MGM and crossed over and went back up to Caesars. It was pretty fun although I lost at almost every casino while she did ok. Come to think of it the casinos were probably trying to stop behavior like that when they implemented the drink systems.:D

    Casino crawl rules:
Each player plays video poker for whatever denom they want. They must drink while they are playing
You play until a 40ak is hit or full house or whatever you decide. This is worth 1 point
Then move to next casino. The winner is the one with the most points at the end
The end usually occurs when a player can’t see his cards anymore or someone throws up

Great idea about video poker for drink service speed. Probably try to go this route for most stops. Also was not aware downtown had 11 casinos, this might be easier for walking purposes in the middle of July. Thanks everyone!

Here is what I came up with in case anyone is curious ( Casino stops may vary depending on level of inebriation/ heat)

Object: Have the most money at the end of the game

    Rules:

    1. Each player starts out with $20/ casino for slots + $5/casino slush fund for drinks/ tipping
    2. Players alternate picking the game to play (video poker/ certain slots next to each other)
    3. Once a player finishes a drink a 5 minute time limit CAN be imposed to move to the next casino
    4. Players can spend more than $20/casino, but if they run out of money they can either:
      • Forfeit the game
      • Add additional funds with winnings being worth 50% at the end of game
    5. Food/Transportation is not included, however tipping for drinks is included in $25/casino
    6. Players must have a drink at each stop
      • Drinks may be purchased outside of Casino and brought in/ or doubled up at one stop and brought to the next (comps)
    15 Stop Option including Downtown:

    1. Palazzo/Venetian
    2. Harrah’s
    3. Linq ( Carnaval Court stop?)
    4. Flamingo
    5. Paris
    6. Bellagio
    7. Caesars Palace
    8. The Mirage
    9. Treasure Island
    10. Wynn (Break - Get an Uber)
    11. Golden Nugget
    12. Binions
    13. Fremont Casino
    14. Four Queens
    15. The D

FWIW I did a full strip crawl. 25 casinos, played $20 in each casino, also stopped for lunch and dinner and played a while longer at Cromwell on blackjack because it was going well, but didn't have a drink in every casino as 25 drinks in a day is a bit much for me!

Took 11 hours and 15 minutes. Definitely recommend doing a subset of the strip or downtown! Also recommend VP if you don't want to wait for a drink.

You can read my tweets from the strip run here: https://twitter.com/TwoWayHardEight/status/1117887475882479617

Might be able to convince someone to try a game like yours downtown during an upcoming trip. Good luck!
