Do You Have a Vegas Eyeroll Moment?

People who come into a "carny" game UTH, Mississippi Stud etc. on a weekend night, buy in, and then ask how to play the game!

Biggest eye roll though, goes to the assclowns who walk up to a urinal, with phone in hand, talkin' with their buddy... Not only unsanitary, but I'm trying to concentrate here!!!

 

So how do you order a root beer?

Do they have A&W Coke restaurants?

 

This may be more of an “eye opener “, rather than “eye roller”.

On my first trip, 39 years ago, I got up at 6 a.m. ( 8 a.m. in Texas ) & and went downstairs.

The elevator opened near a bar, where several people were drinking beer. At 6 in the morning, for goodness sake!!

I was mystified. Had they been drinking beer all night? Or had they just awakened, and were drinking “breakfast beer”?

Still uncertain .

 

The player at a $5 craps table on a Friday/Saturday - playing way too seriously for a vacation destination. Trying to make his mortgage payment, and getting mad a people who throw a 7 (like they can control the dice and did it on purpose).....

 

A third base player at the blackjack table and hits 12-16 and breaks against the dealer's 7-Ace. My eyeroll goes to the idiots who berate the third base player for taking what would have been the dealer's break card.

The young (mid to late 20s) hotshot, sunglasses at night type guys who are loud and obnoxious at casino bars or slots that think sh!t talking with their friends or proving their drink tolerance is something everyone in that section of the casino should know about.

The older (late 30s to late 50s) guys who sit at a table and want to tell you all about their "high paying" job, their numerous personal possessions, how they're an expert on everything Vegas, and then tell you all the reasons your job sucks.

They're really the same guy though. That 20 something turns into the older dude, and the older guy was the 20 something.


Also anyone who says "Why aren't you playing the bonus? You make all your money on the bonus!"

 

Yea really! I don't believe morning drinking is socially acceptable in Vegas before 7 AM.

 

Been going to casinos for 20+ years, and this still gets my attention.

Of course, at the golf course, a Miller Lite and a danish is the “breakfast of champions”.

 

If you want a real eye opener, go to some bars in your own hometown, many places they open at 8 or 10 AM, you'd be surprised how many people do "day drinking" .

 

In MKE there are a lot of bars that open @ 6 or 7 am because in the old days when 3rd shift at the manufactures got out they needed to be able to go get a beer. If those bats still have the original license they can still open early.

 

It ain't just Vegas. A couple weeks back we were cycling through a local town here about 7:30a and one of the bars was hopping.

 

In Texas, using the generic "Cokes" seems to be mostly based on context...
Me: I'm stopping at Kroger on the way home...do we need anything?
Wife: We're almost out of Cokes... be sure to include some Barq's & Mt. Dew. (We don't ever actually buy Coca-Cola)

Me: What are they serving?
Wife: Burgers, chips, beer & Cokes.

Me at the drive-thru speaker: "I'll have a #1 with cheese, no onions, root beer for the drink."

DQ advertisement: "Get a Hunger-Buster, Fries & a Coke* for only $5.95!" (in the fine-print, it will state *any medium soft-drink)
Sports Bar advertisement: "Free Cokes for Designated Drivers". Waitress: "What would you like?" Wife: I'll have iced-tea.

 

Yep. Coke is simply generic for what some call pop or soda or whatever other wrong expression is used.

When a bud asked, "Hey, want a coke?" it was understood that he was referring to a sugary flavored fizzy thing, and then you'd reply, "Sure what do you have?" And that could've been a Coke or Shasta Cola or Grape Nehi or Squirt and so on. Now ordering at a restaurant or fast joint, you called out a specific type, and often a branded specific type.
