My local here in indy just became a CET property this year. Yay! And I found out I have a host. I met him on my last trip. Super nice. Gave me some extra freeplay.

For my trip this week he booked me a room at the local holiday Inn. No on property hotel and got me a comp at the steakhouse... Without my even asking.

Should I tip him tomorrow? Or next trip?
    A gift card?
I've just never had a host actually do this much so I'm not sure what is best.

Oh and I hit a royal so I've been playing on house money all day!

Yes, you should tip him. How much or what is based on your level of play. I usually do $100.

A nice note and money is a great gesture. Also helps build a relationship going forward.

Best of luck and get lots more wins, congrats on the royal!!

I definitely think both a tip and a conversation are in order. I always get hesitant when hosts do things without my asking because they are drawing down from what I consider my "comp bank" My host did that once in AC where he saw we were reserved and booked us seats at a Bingo without us asking him to. When we checked in he told us, and I had to explain that we actually had concert tickets at a different casino and wouldn't be on property that night. He totally understood, but I could also see it being awkward. This is a great chance to thank him for what he did, but also find out if you should ask for what you want or if he will always just do the very best he can for you.

Oh just to clarify, he asked me if I would like to go to the steakhouse and he would set it up. But I get what you are saying.

I think I'll stop and get a card before going back to the casino today, and then see if I can find him!

Thanks! Hitting that royal so early in the day was great. Sadly though I gave a good portion back. But that is gambling!
