I had a stay @ CA for July 12-4, Fri & Sat the room had about TV was 60" or bigger. The rate was good or so I thought $59 pn +. It met my needs and was clean and quiet.

Well, I think you're the first to call it that.

Yeah that's a new one to me.

If people are going to abbreviate this hotel, it's almost always called "The Cal".

We love The Cal—rooms are small but freshly remodeled; off of Fremont so noise is moderate; the workers and clientele are delightful; we find the food at the Market Street to be inexpensive and, in our experience, quite tasty. Glad you had a great experience, as we have when staying there.

I like SBC too, especially after the room remodel. Redwood is as good as ever and so is the VP. I miss Dave's bar though.

I miss the Cal Club (coffee shop that was near binions entrance), wish they bring it back. I don't eat as often at the Cal now that the Club is gone.

Ditto. I will never understand that decision. It was a great place to grab a late night snack and it always appeared busy. (The Bento box saved my son many nights from having the “flu” the next morning.)

Ditto on the Pasta Pirate and Club Cal. Why people change something when it's well is beyond me.

One thing (among others) that I liked about the Cal Club is that option of a quick bite when the Market St. Cafe is swamped and super busy.

I don't want to trek elsewhere for a quick bite and want to stay in the Cal so it always was a great option for me. Their Burger and fries combo with pepsi was fast and filling. I forgave them for the pepsi instead of Coke, lol!!

I missed people missing the Cal Club and Pasta Pirate. Thanks to all of you that feeling has now passed.

I don't comment every time Cal is mentioned, but I also miss Pasta Pirate. Unless management is really stubborn, Noodle House will be replaced. Cal Club ehh, just a late night, drunken stop. Don't really care.

My take on the Cal 2017(May). Comped 3 nites and the front desk lady treated us like an annoyance. She gave us the furthest room from the elevator. Our room looked over Ogden and 1st. Got to see some good demo of Las Vegas Club. Fridge door wouldn't open all the way because the bed was in the way, also, had to step into the shower to shut the bathroom door.
Bonus ( I guess) they were filming a porno across the hall from us because every time we would come & go (no pun) we heard some rather loud "Oh God" 's, and it wasn't a Bible meeting. Bottom line, I'd stay there again if I couldn't get a comped room at the other Boyd's Downtown.

Every time my wife and I pass though the area where the Cal Club used to be, we talk about how much we miss it.

I never dined at the Pasta Pirate but the Noodle House is a huge favorite of mine.
