The hotel end is doing very well. Which would be the main reason to build an additional hotel tower. I'm surprised you wouldn't have noticed that the last time you stayed there and talked your host and members of management.

No but ive been there many times and the casino floor is always a complete ghost town, almost to the point its uncomfortable. I guess the one time you stepped in there and it was kinda busy now means that its booming through the roof, hell they might as well get started on building a 4th tower no???

I agree about the casino being a ghost town, at least most of the time. Which is why I don’t understand why they don’t try to retain gamblers like myself who gave they some serious play. I couldn’t even get a discount on a room. I have no personal experience on the hotel occupancy rates, but if they are building another tower it’s safe to assume it’s based on need.

The DTG has always seemed to lack commitment to their initiatives. We've stayed there at least eight times, probably more. There's never been an obvious connection between play and subsequent offers. We're not high rollers, but we play a lot, mostly max bet quarter VP. We like gambling at the DTG and typically achieve the second player tier each trip after just a day of play. Yet we get no offers at all. Just emails about upcoming events.

As for the shuttle, yeah - make it guests first, cardholders second. But they most likely won't stick with it. They'll decide ridership is too low and discontinue it without figuring this out.

The casino crowd has picked up over the last 12-18 months. I've never seen it "packed", but it gets a good crowd for both tables and slots quite often compared to the past. They have some great promotions, including the "Downtown Dough" where you can earn free play everyday based on your daily play. And the employees at the Rewards desk, the cage, and on the floor are much more knowledgeable and helpful than in the past.

I've stayed there 2-3 times a year over the last 3-4 years. Most recently, I was there 2 nights at the end of March and 2 nights in June, with a drop-in one afternoon earlier in June. I have a great host there and the other hosts know me and take care of anything I need if he's off.

The hotel IS doing great business. They host a lot of groups. They found an interesting niche with hosting family reunions. They have an agreement with some airlines to put up flight employees. The difference is obvious in the hotel lobby, the elevators and the room hallways. They also have a need for more connecting rooms and more suites. They only have about 20 connecting rooms. Their suites are popular with paying guests and, of course, hosted players. The new tower IS needed from a room standpoint. And it will only help the casino side.

I think if you're giving them some serious play, you should talk to a host.

My marketing offers are $100 fp good each week Mon-Thu, $100 fp good each week Fri-Sun, 3 comp nights in a suite each month, $60 dining good the first half of the month and another $60 dining good the second half of the month.

My host goes above and beyond all of this when I need it. The last two trips I wanted two connecting rooms as opposed to the suite because we were travelling with friends. No problem. Fridge no problem. All food comp'd off, which usually includes one nice meal at triple George, no problem. I ask for 2 packs of cigs, he gives me 6. If we want to eat after checking out, he puts a dining credit on my players card so it's comp'd after the fact. Him: "How much do you need?" Me: $100 should be plenty." Him: "I'm putting $150 on your card." And he never takes my earned comp dollars for any of this.

One the drop-in visit I mentioned in the post above, it was me and my dad. We went to use my fp and because my dad likes to play the top Dollar in the hl room, and because we like the place. I took a glance around when we got there for my host but didn't see him. Within a few minutes of playing, he found us. Asked us if we valet parked there so he could take care of it. Offered us tickets to their new comedy club. I said we'd rather play for awhile, but don't expect my usual play on a drop-in, hahaha. Asked us if we ate yet. I said we hadn't and were just discussing where to eat. He said you're eating across the street, of course(Triple George)and called over there and comp'd the meal.

Forget waiting for marketing offers. Talk to a host.

    AllenAndRossi,
I can't recall anyone posting about getting this level of benefits from the DTG. Would you be comfortable giving some info on your level of play? Fine if not.

They've gotten better at giving promotions time. And they really have some great promotions. But their marketing is really lacking.
Some advertising in the freebie Vegas mags. A DTG sign with an led message board sticking off the side of their parking garage that can be seen clearly by the crowds on Fremont. A coupon on every Triple George Grill check offering $10 free play. Something.

And, at least from what I see posted on the boards, DTG is still suffering from the clusterfuck they were the first couple years they were open. Some of that lingering bad reputation still bites them in the ass. And, at least in my experience, they've pretty much done a 180 from those days.

Would you mind divulging how much play (coin-in, average table game bet and hours) you do to get such royal treatment? Would appreciate knowing, thank you!

Why? I get what I want from every other property I play at without having to beg or ask. I’m not interested in having to have a host on call to get what I can book anytime I want at The D, GN, Caesars or Boyd.

I misunderstood your one post. I thought you were interested in establishing a relationship and comped visits at DTG.

I'm not sure what you mean by "beg". Any charges to the room are wiped off my portfolio without even asking.

For those who asked, I probably average about $10k (give or take) played thru slots and vp per day.

I generally give them good "time on device" there, which they seem to like.

I don't always win of course. But I don't seem to get my ass handed to me either when I lose.

I think what he means is that at most other properties, you can simply go online and book an offer without having to make a phone call, which everyone has to admit is far more convenient.

My point was that I don’t need a host at any other property to receive comped nights, freeplay, food, shows. If the level of play I gave them (18k coin in over 1.5 days) wasn’t enough to peek their interest in me then so be it. I couldn’t even get a discounted room rate on a Wednesday and Thursday when I called. That level of play anywhere else downtown will get me everything I want.

I agree with everything AllenAndRossi has wrote we are treated just like he said by are host (suspect it's the same one) there promos have been really good when we have been there and like Rossi said about $150.00 for food before we left and offered a ride to the airport, could not be happier with the service and comps we have received there and the service and food at Freedom Beat has been better than we received at Siegels at the ELCO. The casino is not as full as the rest of Fremont street and that's fine with us, we like to move without waiting for a machine or table game we want to play so I guess we like the Vibe of the DTG casino and they also play music we like at volume we can still talk to each other without yelling also we fined that it is cooler in their casino and we love that, some of the other one's downtown get to hot for us at times but we are from Minnesota so that probably why we don't like the casinos to warm. To make reservations we just email are host with what we need and he sets it up for us, we have stayed there 5 time in the last 3 years and he has hit the nail on the head everytime, it's easiest booking we have ever had for a las vegas casino no calling or checking a web site just email.

That action should certainly be getting you treated right with little effort on your part.

I don't know how long it takes marketing offers to catch up to your play. Hopefully they will.

But DTG isn't the only place in town where checking with a host before checking out can pay dividends at that time and in the future. I've found at most properties, if you give them good, consistent play, there is more available to you than just what your marketing offer gives you.

I pretty much agree with that. Using CET as an example, they make it so easy to book rooms and offers online and give me a selection of better than base rooms at all Vegas properties(I get NOBU, but base room there). Often they offer to upgrade us at check-in for no charge. If we ask, 9 times out of 10 they give us an upgrade at no charge. And if a need to talk to host comes up(a rare exception on our trips), any host on duty is happy to help. Super easy. Now, last month I was approached by an Executive Host at Cromwell promising suites and perks booking thru him. I also got a phone call and email from an Executive Host at Laughlin promising all the same stuff. Most of the time I don't need a host and I'm fine booking online. But then I know from past experience I'll get an email or call from the host asking why I didn't have them take care of me. I don't always need to "play the game".

You can't book DTG offers online or thru email. You have to call. But if you establish a relationship with a host there, you can email, get everything taken care of, and if you keep your action up, get more than your offer.

While I agree many properties make online booking of comps easy and a dedicated host unnecessary, DTG isn't one of them.

Sadly that was last summer, not a peep from them. Or the ability to offer a discount on the room (or match the Hotwire price). I enjoy the property, but won’t be playing there again.
