    My Trip Report

    Folks,

I’m the same guy, I just needed a change. I will find time this trip to sit down for thirty minutes and explain why the change had to be made. I will do it only because it is the best soap opera story you have ever done heard…about. You couldn’t write it, but it has everything to do with my best friend Gary Busey and, for anyone who has followed any of my previous reports, you know Gary.
    Toe.JPG
One day, I’m going to do the right thing and just write a TR where the title is something along the lines of ‘A Bag of Cheetos, Liquor & Gamble’ and we can cut out the needless, long-winded introduction. Unfortunately, like Dr. Martin Luther King before me, ‘I had a dream’ and it seemed like it could be worked into something like this.

I didn’t just have a dream last week, I had my reoccurring dream that has spanned over (nearly) four decades now.

My best friend from middle school died on the Delta Airlines wind shear crash in Dallas back in August of 1985. Ever since then, every once in awhile, I’ll have this dream that doesn’t make a whole hell of a lot of sense to me (illustrated below).
    Dream1.JPG
I walk in a quiet neighborhood or am hiking in some remote recreational area and a commercial jetliner appears to be descending for a landing, but suddenly careens into the ground (like Flight 191 did).
    Dream2.JPG
The explosion from the impact unnaturally causes the debris to shoot straight up into the sky and I’m forced to go all Matrix n’shit out in the open area, dodging the wreckage and shrapnel as it basically seeks me out.

Anywho, I never get hit (mostly because I’m incredibly athletic and stuff), but this past week, something very magical happened. You see, I met a friend along the way in a time of panic.. A man who, upon impact, grabbed me and took me into his home. None other than me main man Peter Tomarken, host of ‘Press Your Luck’!!
    PeterTomarken.JPG
Now I’m pretty sure Ole’ Pete died about 15-20 years ago, but there he was making sure I was safe, sound and offered me some tea. The host of America’s favorite game show! Who’da thunk it?

Look, I’m fucked up. I thought we established that long ago on this forum.

This whole thing got me thinkin’ about how great it would be to have a Press Your Luck Las Vegas version. Win the money, win the liquor, win an all expense paid trip to the Palomino Club!. It would be incredible! It would be sensational.
    PYL1.JPG
The theme got me thinkin’ about pressing my luck by simply staying at my residencies of choice this go-around:

El Co’ for a one nighter. Three suspects arrested in an attempted murder back in March. They seem like good ol’ boys, honestly. It’s not like they killed anybody.
    ElCortez.jpg
Mirage 1 BR Tower TUE – FRI. A man ‘s head was eaten by a white tiger back in 2003.
    RoyHorn.jpeg
Then I booked a 1 BR for my first stay at the Plaza FRI-TUE. Back in December of ’15, a woman shot her husband dead in this hotel after an argument., so the ghost of David Cardova could be present in my very space. Spooky.

Such anger and violence. Let’s get along out there, VMB peoples!!!

It’s been five month’s since my last visit (had to cancel two previous attempts in May and June), marking my longest Clark County drought in twenty years.

The dangers of staying at hotels, drinking, drugging, gambling, walking long distances through the LV skid row(s), avoiding the herpes, praying you don’t find a long red hair in your curry while fine dining…you have to ‘Press Your Luck’ in this town… and that is what I intend to do, capiche!?!

    XO

"No whammies, no whammies, STOP!" Please don't stop this report though.

No personal connection, but a month shy of turning 11, and I was very freaked out by the Delta 191 flight. I used to fly solo every summer beginning when I was 6 out of DFW to visit my grandparents in Breaking Bad country, the good old ABQ.

The wind shear event had me convinced it would happen to me. To this day, I have a very, very similar dream as yours. WTF??? I also rarely fly because I'm convinced it's still going to happen to me. I press my luck in a piece of crap mini van on the way to Vegas...upping my chances of an accident in reality.

I really like your macabre connections to various Vegas locations. It's like seeing Faces of Death or a snuff film play out in a trip report. :wink2: I had a friend who was a dancer in the Siegfried and Roy Show. She became instantly unemployed after the accident. I'll never forget visiting the same grandparents in ABQ, and my grandfather casually saying over dinner that my friend lost her job because her boss was eaten by a tiger. Odd! :yuck:

Really looking forward to this report and seeing how you dodge the grim reaper throughout Vegas! :headbang:

    Much luck @FormallyTD!

Am I the only one to look this up only to find that Peter Tomarken died in a plane crash in 2006? I just got back from Vegas an hour ago so I'm a little messed up but...my mind is really blown now.

I actually knew that because it happened shortly after the time that GSN's (horrible) Whammy! The All New Press Your Luck remake came out. I had looked up to see what Tomarken might have thought about it. Turns out that he actually made a pilot for it!

Have you seen the remake? It is fantastic (except that some of the contestants are straight out of Central Casting). Elizabeth Banks does a fantastic job, and except for the decent bonus round, the game play is true to the original.

Did you know there was a guy who figured out the pattern to the wammy machine. He then got on the show and made a fortune. Interesting story. Now if I can just figure out that Keno machine....

It's freaky to watch footage of him and see his eyes tracking the game board.

Wish I could find a pattern in something and make a fortune too! LOL.
