Their VP was average. 8/5 BP and 9/7 DB at the $1 level. Worse at the $.25 level.

stayed at the Sahara many times and was sad to see it go. I have since stayed at their SLS and doesn't have that feel it used to. Gaming wise, the old Sahara was the place and poker room was always full. Now .....the vibe is just not there. I'm looking forward to the new change.

It they change it to Sahara, I will sign up their slot club.
Never done that with SLS, because it was not even a name.

Meruelo is on a buying spree. First the SLS, then supposedly another casino, and now the Arizona Coyotes. I guess he just loves buying things that are out of the way and people don't go to.

If they did this, they can call it anything they like as far as I am concerned.

Hmmmm ... ... SLS = Sahara Las Vegas.

Prolly won't see it first-hand again until next April.

I was in there Monday night to eat at Cleo. We got $40 summer menu/ tasting and it was fantastic. I asked the waiter if they were closing as it was rumored and he replied they wouldn’t know till September. Casino was very open with cool looking restaurants. It was a Monday night but saw $5 blackjack at several tables(6/5) and $5 craps. Pool area also looked nice. Not sure if I’d stay there though yet.

I'm going to go check it out next week (and eat at Bazaar Meat! :feedme:). I was in there very briefly when they first became SLS, but not since then. I have seen some photos on social media and I like what I see. I'm looking forward to seeing it for myself.

I will. I’m a chip collector as well and I’ll be having dinner there a week from today. I’ll be sure to post if they have new chips, or not, in my TR.

I think I mentioned this it the thread with the old Vegas pics but one of my big regrets was not spending more time in the places like the Sahara, Frontier, etc when I visited Vegas in the 90s and they were still open and standing.

I'm hoping to pick up one of the SLS ones before they switch (back) to Sahara. :)

Those sly dogs named it Sahara Las Vegas for a reason, I bet a lot of the SLS stuff stays the same for awhile. The first money being spent, is to rip out all that Industrial Look that the SLS went for, that normal people said it just looked unfinished. I bet the chips, and a lot of the SLS signage, stay for awhile.

Sadly, methinks the Sahara will suffer from the same disease as the SLS. It’s in the no-man’s-land that is the North End of the Strip.

There is nothing down there. You have to specifically want to go there. It might as well be the Orleans.

I kinda like the idea of having a Sahara back even if I only visited a couple of times.

Oh man, you aren’t kidding. The first time my wife and I went to Sahara we signed up for the players club so we could get the free buffet. What a mistake that was! That place was worse than our local Golden Corral!
