El Dorado Caesars Merger

Now the merger is official.... What is going to be the impacts to the current Caesars members? I still have 160k reward credits in my account... should we go spend them before all the changes? I still want all the seven stars perks..... I heard bad things about El Dorado being cheap... is it true?

 

They are keeping the Caesar's brand so maybe they will keep the same reward platform. I hope so!

 

Spend at least 3/4th. New systems and conversions are normally not fun or accurate. I've been going thru the pains with my home casino Hollywood Columbus. All ear long when I place my Marquee Card in a machine it recognizes my status, but does not display my total tier or daily tier earned. We are converting to the MyChoice system, whichis supposed to be working in July, when I get my new players card.

 

I think the short answer is no one knows much. That being said, it's always risky to carry that kind of reward credit value at any casino since they can change the terms even without a merger. All that being said, the real prize for el dorado is getting the Caesars name which will be kept and the book of players. If they go scorched earth on this system which many people seem to love then the merger will likely be a disaster. The big things I could seem eliminating is the Diamond Tier Matches for other programs which would save a lot in terms of dinners, moving diamond to 25k from 15k, and likely eliminating the lounges, unless their other properties already have an amenity like this. In places like AC, I actually think it may increase the number of comp rooms available since they already own Tropicana as well. Selfishly I hope it's a smooth merger because we love tropicana but don't typically play there simply because there are no perks back to our home base.

All that being said, they may just keep them as totally separate entities and run their old property as el dorado resorts and the new ones as el dorado resorts dba Caesars.

They don't have to merge players card or accounts or anything if they don't wish to. All this was really about was getting into the vegas market

 

I hope all the perks stays including the daily tier credits bonus.

 

I believe they will simplify the current system as most players clubs are not so complicated and the above poster is right that they will likely raise the requirements for some tiers. I would not keep credit at this point because the new company has zero obligation to honor it. They can if they want to or convert it to their new system or offer something in lieu of it but they don’t have to honor it. Most however will transfer over comp dollars evenly.

 

The PROPOSED merger is official. Lots of approvals and issues have to take place. They announced completion in first half of NEXT YEAR.

They also announced they are keeping Total Rewards.

Sure, there will be some changes but nobody really knows since today they are still separate companies, and will remain so for quite some time.

 

We have a 7* retreat in Oct and will use some RCs on things we don’t usually do. A couples message and maybe a really nice bottle of wine at dinner. We have about $1700.00 in RCs but with our 500 in folio credit and still have $400 left in food vouchers it’s going to be tough to use lots of them.
Will be interesting to see what changes are made and we will take our 7* retreat for next year in February or March. Ocean time

 

I used most of my RC when we went to Vegas in early June. But I build them up quick with my TR Credit Card. I'm going to just keep on doing the same thing until I have a reason not to.

 

I had hoped that someone would be able to give some definite answers, but I suspect that even the new boss may not know what he intends at this point. A very major difference I saw in the ED One Club program is that Tier level is based on a rolling 12 month average, so if that is carried over to the new CET, there would no longer be the option to get 18 month of Diamond benefits by doing Diamond in a Day, or at least weekend. For less frequent LV visitors like me, this would be a major disincentive to do so. Below is from the One Cub FAQ which does reference that reward credits do not expire so long as you have activity within 12 months, but they reserve all rights to delete benefits at their whim. I could not find the kind of information TR/CR gives on what it takes to earn points, but it also is worth remembering that it was only 2017 that ED incorporated most of their casinos into the One Club program. The guppy is swallowing the whale, so the waters are very uncharted at this point and frankly they are going to have to make some of it up as they go along.

Q: What is the tier evaluation period?
A: Tiers are evaluated individually on a rolling 12 month period. If within the last 12 months, your tier points earned elevate you to the next tier, you will enjoy the benefits on your new tier for the next 12 months and that date of achievement is your new evaluation date to maintain your tier status or elevate to the next tier.

Q: What happens to my tier points after the tier evaluation period?
A: Tier points are evaluated on a 12 month rolling period. For example, on August 1st, 2016, your tier points for August 1st, 2015 are no longer evaluated towards your next tier goal.

Q: Do my Reward Dollars expire?
A: ONE Club Reward Dollars will only expire after 12 months of inactivity on any ONE Club account.

 

Or, get a credit card with 1-2% cashback and no concern at all what happens with CET/Eldorado. And of course, if you no longer go to Vegas, the cashback is good, but RC's are of little value.

 

Probably never a bad idea to use RC's on a regular basis but I wouldn't panic on using them all. Even before, the proposed merger CET has occasionally devalued reward credits and other benefits. This may happen anyways for next year based on whatever CET was planning already. Also, as more of the hurdles are removed on the proposed merger, some of the features of whatever the "new players" program may be introduced before the end of this year before the start of next years' program.

 

Can you think of many examples where loyalty points increase in value over time? The short answer is 99% of the time they devalue. Sometimes suddenly and sometimes slowly.

I would certainly not hoard points in uncertain systems.
