Does the Wi-Fi in NY,NY require you to login through a welcome page and enter your room number etc?

Reason i ask is that i'd quite like to connect a Chromecast to the dated TV in the room but as i understand it i wont be able to connect the Chromecast to the Wi-Fi if there's a browser login requirement.

I think if that's the case then buying a cable to connect my phone to the TV is the only solution.

Edit: I think another solution would be to use my phone as a hotspot once it is connected to the Wifi, then connect the chromecast to that.

    Thanks.

Yes, you have to do a login page. Only once though, maybe twice, depending on the length of your stay. It's pretty much the same as all MGM Resorts properties.

You need a travel router that connects to the hotel wifi captive portal and then broadcasts your own wifi network you connect all your devices too.

If you’re in the room, you don’t have to actually enter your last name and room number to use the WiFi. There is a login page but it just requires you to accept their terms and hit submit.

At the casino level you do have to enter your room/last name so they know you’re a hotel guest using the WiFi (but if you’ve already connected in your room you don’t have to login again).

Do the LV hotels also have a "wired" option, where you can plug in a network cable in the room instead of going Wi-Fi? Even with the protections of VPN, etc., I would not go "Wi-Fi" in a public establishment such as a hotel. If the hotel did not offer a network "wired" option, I'd have to either use their business center (and not do banking or other financial stuff that requires entering PII), or I'd just have to go without it for a while... Even *with* a "wired" network cable option in the room, I'm probably going to curtail the financial stuff...

All the hotel rooms I have stayed in the last few years have only wifi. The MGM suite I had in 2016 still had an ethernet cable, but it wasn't active.

I tried this in March. This will not happen. The TV isn't even able to be switched to another outlet. There is no button on the remote nor is there a button on the TV itself. Absolutely nothing I could do

That is why you bring a universal remote and a travel router. Rarely are the TVs truly blocked from having the input changed, the button is just not on the remote.

With a universal remote you can change the input.

With a travel router you can rebroadcast your own wifi and share the hotel wifi even with a captive portal. That lets your phone and chromecast be on the same wifi so it works. I linked to one but apparently I was not supposed to link to another site. Search Google for travel router and look for one that supports captive portals.

Too much work. Go downstairs and enjoy the casino and all things Las Vegas and get a drink too! That's just me :)

    Interesting, that sucks.

I feel what you're saying about enjoying the casino and getting out of the room but i enjoy having a few drinks in the room before heading out, might have to just rely on audio from the phone then, not a big deal if that's the case.

I'm pretty sure i wouldn't need a portable router, my phone (Samsung S9) has the ability to share wi-fi, so i think i'd be able to use that. Not sure if a universal remote from the UK would work with the TV but i could try it, if it was a cheap solution.

    Thanks!
