Apologies about the random nature of these questions - Unsure if I should split them out and post them in two different subsections or not but thought I'd just put it in Misc Vegas chat and see what happens :)

1st question - So I normally take cash with me but I really do hate traveling with all my bankroll on me for nearly 24 hours of travel. I hear some wire money to the Casino, how does this work? Will it be ok from a UK bank? Also, is there a minimum? And finally I am starting in one hotel but casino hopping, how would that work? Does it work like a ATM where I just pull all my money out when I want and then I can spend it where I want?

2nd question - I was reading an old TR of mine and reminiscing over a photo of Pinks hotdogs and onion rings. Where can I now find the best onion rings on strip?

And the award for the two most unrelated questions goes tooo.......

No but seriously I do want to know.

Q1. They don't think of themselves as an ATM nor will they just let you pull out all the money. You would think you could, as it is your money but they treat it mostly like a casino marker and expect that you will use it for gambling at their property. You would need to gamble enough and scroll enough money away to let them think you lost it (but they are pretty sharp in tracking that).

Aw thanks for the reply. Ugh, that doesn't sound like it will suit my needs. I mean don't get me wrong, I will be gambling with most of it but I wanted to find an alternative way than carrying cash.

    Q. 1. Call the casino where you are staying and ask for the cage. The person there should give you two or three options.

Welsh Blonde, I get casino credit ahead of time and then just get markers. You do have to do separate casinos credit, I believe.

I can't remember where I've had onion rings in Vegas except for my last trip. I did have some at LVB Burger at Mirage and I enjoyed them.

I have had the onion rings at my local Fatburger and I liked them here, but I haven't gone to Fatburger in Vegas but I can't imagine they would be much different.

If I've tried onion rings at other restaurants it was long ago and I don't remember.

As an aside, I did have Popcorn Chicken at LVB Burger my last trip... delish!

I wired money to the Cosmo a few years ago. I would never do it again. First of all, a PITA on both ends. I had a Junior host, who told me I would have NO problem getting ALL of my money right when I got there. Well, they didn't want to give it to me. They really act like they are issuing you credit - or some such thing - instead of giving you YOUR OWN MONEY. They did NOT want to give it to me. I told them the promise my host had given me, and they called her, and eventually I got my money. But it took forever, and it was stress that I don't need. I have enough stress in my job - don't need it on vacation.

    @Patman had it absolutely correct.

With that said, I don't know what the minimum amount is. I wired 6K I believe,

Never, ever wire money to a casino, it is a nightmare.

I can only imagine the levels of PITA nonsense a foreign transaction would allow them to give you.

Cash or bite the bullet on ATM fees Blondie, you'll be much better off.

Are traveler's checks not an option? You could cash them when you get there?

The 1980s called, they want their Traveler's Checks back.

In all seriousness, just apply for a Line of Credit. Lemon squeezy.

Thanks all for the suggestions. Seems to be a PITA to open line of credit and the Western Union thing would mean a drive out towards Red Rock to pick up cash. Eh... maybe go for the 1980s option, will be my first time! (I was only just born in the 80s haha)

Our bank covers ATM fees so we have an arrangement for a high daily withdrawal amount. Most casino ATM machines will have a single withdrawal limit (less than our bank limit) so you may have to withdraw more than once depending on your needs. This works for us and gives us the freedom for cash whenever we need it.

I wired money once to the Aria about 2 years ago. I realized the morning of my trip that I had lost my ATM card. My bank was able to overnight a new one to the Aria business center, but I did not want to be without cash the fist day or so.
I thought it went smooth- the Casino gave me wiring instructions- and I pick up the money in the high limit slot room cage. it was on a cash-out ticket.
I got my cash and put it in the room safe right away! : )
