it's been a travel day for me so the next entry is a little delayed. I refer to notes a lot and actually need something resembling a workspace. Thanks for your interest.

    6/11/19, Tuesday at MSS
My tournament time was 10:30. I figured that I would start my day with it. This isn't a big money thing, $5,000 all in $1,500 to the winner. Most of the top 30 are getting $50 in FP. I mostly booked the offer to get another 11 X point multiplier at MSS on Weds. Since I have already extended Sapphire status, this doesn't matter too much.
The elevator is making a weird noise on the way down, it sounds like its laughing. I wonder if its laughing with me or at me. There's reason to do both.
I get assigned my machine and take my seat. I have 20 minutes to play 1500 credits. It's faster than I usually play, but an easy pace to sustain for 20 minutes. The game is DDB and only about 120 people are participating. Most are probably waiting for the bigger money one later this month.
We're off! My session sucks for about 12 minutes. It's the last 400 credits the tick up. I get 2's and another quad. I only got a couple FH's for a still in the contest score of 1660. That turned into 22nd place.
I figured I'd start playing with money and started .25 job at bhb at 10:52. At 11:11 I was dealt 4 royal hearts, but got the queen of clubs for a straight .I hit 10's at 12:00, 2's at 12:03, K's at 12:56 and 4's at 1:07. I was never ahead by much and quit even at 1:19. I saw another tournament player who had sat next to me yesterday and had hit a $2,000 RF after about $400 coin in. I went to say hi to him at his BP triple play. He had been dealt 4, hit on a hand and had just gotten his scratch card. His day wasn't perfect though. He had a bad tournament round.
The Kiosk gave me another lunch buffet.
Not wanting to repeat any of yesterday's stupidity, I took a break after lunch. It was extended, as I decided to attend Teneya Creek's Pint Night after all.
I didn't understand that you had to buy a pint glass full of beer for $6 an then refills were $3. Since I only drank 2 pints, I paid the normal price and got a glass. if I remember to pack it next trip, Tuesday $3 beers will be mine. Las Vegas has a brand new beer paper and I have the first one published. I got it signed by the founder. He owed me. Last week there was an fantastic collection of joseph james beers, but only 2 of them were left. I was going to drink another coconut imperial stout anniversary, but got sidetracked by their strong dark ale. I was raving about these beers to beer newspaper guy and he ordered the imperial stout. they took the sign down right after because he got the last 5 oz pour from the keg. I figure that, once the publication becomes famous, that I can sell my copy on Pawn Stars.
Anyway, I'm on foot. It's not dark yet, but it's getting there. I say my goodbyes and make an uneventful journey back to MSS.
I was back at BHB at 8:56. I hit 4's at 9:06, another quad at 9:17, 6's at 9:38 and quit at 9:51 up $50. I only had 1145 pts which is an extremely low play day for me. I am not willing to ask for a comp on this sort of play, so I use a buffet coupon for prime rib and scampi night.
Tomorrow is the last day of the tournament, my last full day in Vegas and 11 X point multiplier day.

Heading to Vegas next week, 2 nts. DT. I am going to play at MSS some--do I ask for the scratch card when I hit a 4OAK or is there a signal?

Just turn on the service light and wait. Don't play anymore until you get the card.

you need to remember to do it by pressing the attendant button, I was out of it and forgot twice on my last trip (was busy sending a pic to P instead)
(you do need a players card to qualify btw)

I also think it requires a 5 coin wager.

A slot attendant once refused to give me a scratch card because I wasn't playing max coins on a Double Super Times Pay game. I was only playing six coins per line, not seven.

If tier credits matter to you, make sure you have two cards; one to keep in the machine and one to hand the attendant. Otherwise you risk losing whatever partial tier credit you had accumulated at that point.

Wow. Just read the second half of your report in one sitting. How generous you are to provide so much detail. Congrats on all of the royals and other good hands and for doing an amazing job working the promos and having a blast at the same time.

You may have said it early on but how do you keep track? In a notebook? I play VP so quickly that I'd hate to stop to write things down. I typically write down what my starting points are and take pictures of decent wins and then my ending points and that's it!

I'm not a beer drinker but it was great to get the scoop on the HHs.

Four Queens should pay you for the props you've given then. Your report was so informative and as I mentioned before, because of what you shared about the promo and your generally positive experiences there, I will definitely give them serious play during my upcoming trip. I play 5 and 10 play UX in DDB (and TDB if it is available) and hope to do $32k in coin in for the free play promo and to generate some great offers.

Thank you so much again for an amazing report and safe travels home.

I should also add that I love your grinding. I can relatively easily have a 12+ hour VP day and appreciate other VMBers like you who like long play days like I do. :)

An old David Letterman Vegas story: In Vegas, Dave was approached by a decently dressed man telling a very convincing, sincere, and tragic tale of woe. As Dave is about to hand the money over he asks: "Hey, you aren't going to use this for gambling are you? The man looks at him like he has just been asked a silly question that still requires an answer. He pats his shirt pocket and says "I GOT gambling money."

It's my last full day in Vegas, Tournament day, and 11 point multiplier senior day.
I'm ready to start earlier today
I'm at BHB at 9:10 and stop at 9:26 I'm down $12.50 and earned a TC. This gets me a buffet breakfast. The line is long, but the comp gets me in the invited guest line and I'm seated in minutes. The meal was 3 over medium eggs, Portugese sausage, potatoes, croissant, and a chocolate donut with coffee and orange juice.
I'm at the tournament 20 minutes before my start time. The guy I saw hitting RF's is having a decent round. It won't compensate for yesterday though. When the day begin I was a mere aces with a kicker out of first place.
Go! This round has a better start. I'm hitting FH's and they add up. I'm dealt trip 3's with a kicker and briefly consider holding the kicker, decide that's crazy talk and the 4th 3 is the first card out. I also hit 6's and am dealt a ton of trips. Could have been a monster round, but turned out good at 1,840.
When I get back to MSS, RF guy is playing triple play 8/5 .25 BP. Normally I wouldn't touch this game. Today, though, is different, a perfect storm of exceptions. The 11 x point multiplier adds .55% to the return. I figure that plus the scratch cards make it an even play. I would normally choose JOB as a clearly positive play, but I have low played over the previous 2 days and a high play day is prudent. I'm also way ahead for the trip and have always wanted to play a multiline game so todays the day!
    I start at 11:20, hit 6's at 12:04, lose $150 at 12:39.
At 12:50 I'm dealt A-4 of hearts and draw the 2 on my first line.
    At 1:21 I lost $87.50.
    I hit 8's at 1:51 and lose another $100 at 2:02.
    I hit 2's at 2:08, A's at 3:42 and lost another $100 at 4:08 when I quit down $450 for the day
I dreamed about being dealt quad aces and 4 or 5 to a royal. I was getting less scratch cards playing this than I do single line JOB. For about an hour I didn't improve any 3 or 4 card hands. No straights, flush or FH's, or quads filled out. I would watch my draws as the same useless card would appear in 2 lines, sometimes in the same place. It was both fascinating and discouraging. RF guy was bouncing around here and at other places and was having an epically bad day like some I previously reported about. I wasn't done yet, but my wallet was out of gambling money.
For reasons I'll get into later I had allocated some of my winnings for a gambling stake for my MSS stay, and the rest was coming home with me. The MSS money was gone. If I hadn't lost that $350 ticket, I'd be good, but I did, so I'm not. I want to keep playing. I don't find any FP on my account and decide to check the tournament results.
The winner had 1000 credits the first day and 6,600 the next. I took 15th place for $50 FP that had to be played at the Cal. My potential kicker wouldn't have mattered.
I used a $20 food comp and $5 YAH credit for a last noodle house comp. The pad thai was bit too salty this time, but still good. I didn't take the left overs this time. I did drink every drop of my last 2 Dogfish 90 minute IPA's.
I keep my points stashed at the casinos to even out bad trips. I don't much care if I come home $250 ahead or $550 ahead, it still feels like winning. If I'm down $250 though, I'll cash out $300 in points. I decided to cash out $300 worth of points. I've GOT gambling money.
RF guy had told me about other full pay triple play machines that I thought would be served from 777. I moved there with my new stake and found an 8/5 game. A guy moved next to me and talked constantly. He was distracting, but I was able to order my Mango Wheat. I restarted at 6:10, hit 4's at 6:30 and 2's at 6:39. Talking guy busted and left. I was up $96. It is harder to keep track of a multi hand game, but the credits seemed low to me, turns out I was playing 8/5 JOB. Shit!! I'm upset and embarrassed. This is worse than forgetting money in a machine. I was literally sleeping when that happened. This is just stupidity. I switch to BP, but its pay table is even worse. Turns out that the full pay on these machines is DDB. I had misunderstood, assumed and blundered.
But I had almost doubled my buy in. I collected my ticket and my beer and went back to my original machine. When I was there before a guy had just hit a RF. He came back, hit aces and left again. RF guy was magnifying the epic in bad.
    I drew aces at 7:00 AND got a $5 sc. At 7:16 I was dealt 4's and drew 5's at 7:46. My credits did a surprise jump and I think I hit 2's with out noticing. I hit 4's at 8:10, 7's at 8:22, 4's at 8:34, 9's at 8:56, Q's at 9:01, 5's at 9:04, and was dealt 5's at 9:23.
Now, when I held 3 or 4, two different lines might improve, sometimes with the same card. The game was fascinating to watch. I was part player and part spectator.
I quit at 10:05 PM. I had played the machine to a draw. I was up $100 this evening, but still down $350 for the day. I was pleased with 6177 points I had earned so far. I wasn't done playing yet, but I had enough points and my triple play curiosity had been satisfied.
I started .25 JOB at 10:36. Jose asked me if I wanted a Mango. Duhhhh... would be a truthful answer. Turns out he's got a picher in the fridg because some guy had asked for it earlier. He asked if it was me and I told him it wasn't. It was way earlier and the beer had lost its luster. I traded it for an IPA. What clown would waste that much Mango. Jose was about to leave and I reminded him that I had actually finished the pitcher he had gotten for me last week. He said that a server working the other side had gotten it from 777 and stored it there so that she wouldn't have to go back. He was right. It was me. I was the clown who wasted the beer.
A guy started playing next to me that I had met at Chicago Brewing. He will play good and bad games with some quirks, but he had finished strong on their .25 DDB progressive. He had hit aces and something with a kicker that combined for close to $500. He had gambling money and headed down for BJ. A few days later he's up thousands. We're friendly and he obviously likes and respects me. I see him playing his machine for $10 a hand BJ. He's a BJ player, I know that he knows that game is shit. I basically just asked him if his winning streak is so off the chain that he can play anything. He tells me that it won't hurt to drop a couple hundred here. I think that he rethinks this. He cashes out to move to a better game. I think we remain friendly and I hope his streak continues.
I was dealt a 4 card royal. Perhaps the standard 1 out of 47 odds, but it felt about 50/50 for a story book story ending to my tale. The VP powers apparently don't care about how a trip report ends.
A woman tells me that she has never gotten a RF. She has a story though. She was with a group that included a man with advanced cancer. He knew he'd be dead soon and decided on a last Vegas trip They were playing a few last minutes while waiting for the limo to arrive. He hit for $4,000. She told the story like it was her Royal too. Playing the game and life out to the end. There is probably a metaphor in here if someone wants it. He limos away from his last vegas trip with his last Royal and knows it. A Warren Zevon verse when he knew he was dying, "there's a train leaving nightly called when all is said and done. Keep me in your heart for a while," I'm glad she shared her story. Honestly, it feels like my Royal too. I fondly remember a man I never met.
Its 12:05 AM and the point multiplier is over. I got a $25 777 comp from the host earlier. I earned 6,611 points today. I cash out $50 down, like $400 down for the day. It seems like a lot, but it is pretty close to the expected loss for a day without a RF. My points are multiplied and worth over $72 and I have $35 in scratch cards.
$25 goes a long way at 777 at HH. No server would come to my table, so I moved to the bar. Dinner was fish tacos, fried bacon wrapped stuffed jalapenos, fried cheese cake and two 23 oz Mangos. I try to order the Man-eater IPA for my first beer but the keg blows. She gives me the glass that has about a pint in it after the foam subsides. The tacos are good. The second jalapeno must be a habanero in disguise. My mouth is on fire. I try to order the ice cream sundae, but have to settle on the cheesecake. The fire goes out before it arrives. I take my last beer on my last night back to my room.
I'm not sure when I'm leaving tomorrow or how much I'm playing.
Hope you check in to find out.

That's a great promotion. Glad you have the chance to lay it. I keep a notebook and stop and record each hit. Normally I have the time, the hit, cards drawn, credits in the machine, and points tallied. If I'm playing a progressive I include how much the hit was worth, but that means I don't have the room to record other stuff. Seems like a lot, but I definitely know the ebbs and flows of a session. Turns out it is also useful when telling the story of the day and weeks in the life of a VP player. FH's, Flushes and straights, I notice but don't record.

That was one attentive slot attendant. I hit the button just to ask for a comp once and the guy handed me a scratch card. He didn't even notice what was on the screen. I even got to keep the card.

Thanks for sharing the story of my cousin’s husband (cancer patient) and his royal flush. It was a moment I’ll never forget. It was nice chatting with you at the bar. I enjoyed reading about your 22 days of VP in downtown Vegas.

Your story is deeply touching. I edited that about 4 times. It's hard to convey what you described. I hope you continue to tell it. I hope we can chat again someday.

I to had a Tito stolen at MSS on my last trip luckily was only $17 but everyone should be diligent when playing there, thieves everywhere and the casino has to know what's going on.

Circled back within 45 seconds and poof gone.

Just to offset that a little.....last time I was at MSS I left a $423 ticket in the machine when I went to the bathroom, because I was really drunk. The guy who sat down at the machine next to it while I was gone, noticed and turned it in to security, and I got it back. :)
