In that case, I'll report on'
    Saturday, 6/8/19 at 4 Q's

"On another day this might seem strange." Nicholas Cage in Con Air as they watched their plane towing a sports car after takeoff.

It's a new day. Yesterday I think the dramatic win and losses slowed me down. Today is going to be grind day. I plan to play a bit.
I start playing .50 JOB at yesterday's machine at 10:30 AM. I lose $100 at 10:57, another at 11:21, and a third at 11:36. Correctional Officers I worked with use to have a saying, "Same shit, different day." This was looking familiar. I switched machines. After a few minutes, I felt better. The buttons had a nice click to them and the sound was the perfect volume. I hit 5's at 11:40. Then I lost my $100 at 11:58. Shortly after I was dealt King through ten of hearts. Given my recent history, I was optimistic but only drew a flush. I lost another $100 at 12:32 PM. At 2:15, I finally hit 6's on my last credits. I get 9's at 2:37, 7's at 2:56, Q's at 3:23 and again at 3:51. I lost my $100 at 4:30 down $600 for the day.
I decide to go upstairs for some beer and food. I started playing .25 DDB at 4:35. At 5:11 I hit 10's for $67.50 but still lost my $100 at 6:51.
I had managed to win and lose a $2,000 Royal over a couple of days and today was still young. I felt the need to do something different, but what? My overriding playing moto is to stay in the game. I did the math and realized I could switch to quarters and still hit 4,000 points
I was already tired, but started .25 JOB at 9:16 pm. I hit 4's at 9:59, A's at 10:11,J's at 11:01, 5's at 12:30. At 12:59 I held a king and drew 4 aces. This hundred was lasting longer. I got down to my last 5 to 10 credits, but kept coming back. At 1:15 I was dealt another suited K-10. I only had 30 credits left and was quietly chanting nine, ace spades, nine, ace spade. The ace popped up and 4,000 credits counted off. On another day this might seem surprising. I lost those 30 credits at 1:30. I quit up $200 for the day. I was around 560 points (about $4,500 coin in) short of my 4,000 point goal.

You get around! You probably already know that Banger also has a late HH, like 9-11. I've mentioned the Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA at the Redwood bar several times. It's a screaming deal at $4 especially if you're paying with $2.40 in points. I was wondering why the noodle house only charged me $4 for them. Now I realize that I was eating during HH. Thanks. Now I can plan my mealtimes to get 3 beers for the price of 2. I'm at MSS now. I recall their 777 HH beers going for $3 a pint and $4 for 22 oz. The BHB probably charges $2.50, but their pours are 12 oz unless you go plastic, and they don't carry the madly popular Mango Wheat or less popular Man eater IPA.

    6/9/19, Sunday, my last day a 4 Q's

I heard Bobby Knight (A rather explosive college basketball coach) tell a story about laying into a ref over a bad call. He told the ref that he couldn't decide if the guy was ignorant or just apathetic. The Referee looked at him and said "I don't know, and I don't care" before walking away.

I'm not eager to leave my suite. It's really comfortable. VP, however, has been batshit crazy. One more day with at least $4,500 in and I'm good. If the day goes well, I'll play a lot more. I'm considering punching out early if I catch another of these losing streaks. I don't want to spend 6 hours grinding this out playing quarters. I've got a Hugo's reservation tonight and I'll need a few hours before that for a special activity that I have been planning all trip, but am going to keep to myself for a few more moments. The plan is to start JOB at .50c. If I lose a quick two hundred, I drop to .25c and grind it out. That's the plan. Me, 4 Q's, and plans are not a trio to bet the mortgage on.
I start JOB at 10:08 AM. My first $100 is gone at 10:19 and the second at 10:33. I've run through less than $730. Seems like losing quick to me. I switch to .25c
At 11:48 I lose another $100.. I'm fine with it. It lasted close to 2 hours and the quads, SF's and more Royals will come eventually.
At 12:06 PM I'm dealt another suited 10-K. Clubs this time. I can hear when a dealer busts or a shooter makes his point, but I'm playing by myself. I draw an Ace. It's a Club. Remember when I suggested you might have a hard time believing my story? I'm looking at my the notes I wrote a few minutes later, I have the money (which I recounted twice) and I have trouble believing it. For my first Royal, I was dealt 4, After that I had as many dealt RF's as those I drew the 5th card to. All a 4 card RF used to do was get me to throw away a paying hand. I actually started tracking the results. I don't have last year's unsuccessful attempts, but there were 27 more times this year before I finally hit at 4 Q's on 5/27. I missed 20 more times before hitting at the 4 Q's Friday. I missed 5 times before hitting yesterday. This is the next time I was dealt 4. 4,000 credits counted off.
I switched back to .50c at 12:17PM. Figured I could afford it.
At 12:23 I'm dealt J-A of diamonds. This is Twilight Zone level bizarre. I draw a 10. It's a heart. I'm amused that this is what I'm surprised at.
I lose the rest of that $100 at 12:35. I take out the $1,000 ticket and put a new hundred in. I have 305 points.
I hit K's at 12:41, 4's at 1:19, 6's at 1:37, 4's at 1:43, and J's at 1:53. Even with all the quads, half my hundred is gone at 2:19 and I'm hungry.
I cash out and head up to Chicago Brewing for some garlic knots and IPA's. It's a late breakfast and I have 9:00 reservations. They seem to have completly recovered from Fridays flood. Still, I don't mind taking the bar seat closest the door. That flood water stunk. I have 696 points. Well over the minimum I was shooting for, but I would like more. I play .25c DDB as I snack and eat. The progressives look good. At 2:40 (10 minutes later) I lose $50. At 2:43 I hit 5's for $64.43. At 2:45 I draw 2 more aces for $222. I'm dealt 6's for $63 at 4:47 and another quad for $68 at 5:18. The quads and most everything else dried up and I quit at 6:51 down $150. I order another IPA to take down to this activity that I hinted at.
So I kept a secret that I had thought might be some game changing reveal that salvaged my weekend. It seems pretty anti-climatic now, but I am still excited about it.
I've been hoarding my Free play. I got $500 from the May promotion, $100 up front for June, and I just got $400 for this June Promotion. I know that some of you get tons of FP, but this is a dream come true for a quarter player. I've decided to play the $1,000 through .25 10/7 DB. This is my favorite game. I used to have 4 places that I could play it for full points. The play led to 2 or 3 weeks of comps and mostly positive trips. I hardly play the game at all now, because I can't earn enough points. But points don't matter with FP
I put $5 in the first machine, but I don't like it. I like the next machine and start downloading at 2 to $300 at a time, I'll be here a while. If I hit a run, I may miss my reservation.
I start DB at 7:05 PM
I hit 6's at 7:22 and Aces (with a worthless kicker) at 7:34 I get 5's at 8:40. Seconds later I discard five and draw 10"s. This is fun! I peak at 4,912 credits. I cash out at 9:00 for $1,200. Is that a $200 or $1,200 profit. I'm going $1,200 hands down and am super happy about the last couple hours.
I's Hugo's time, but I head upstairs, put $20 in DDB, order another IPA, play until my credits hit 80 again, cash out, and take my beer and $20 down to Hugo's. I order the ribeye with garlic mash. It's great, the beer is great, and I feel great. It is around 10:30 when I'm done. I have about 4,500 points for the weekend, more than I needed, but less than I was hoping for. I can squeeze in another 500 points, but I decide I don't want to. I want this day to remain what it is now. My wallet is bulging with hundreds. Around the last RF this became more about the experience. I'll count the money tomorrow. Tonight I don't know and I don't care.
Tomorrow I make my last move of the trip to MSS for a VP tournament.

Wasilla, fantastic fantastic trip report! I will be at El Co and Four Queens next week, so a lot of the info in your report is invaluable. Thanks so much for all the detail, and advice on bankroll management and choice of games. Your planning and endurance are amazing. I'm so impressed that you can play that many hours per day. I do have one question: I notice that you did not play at Station Casinos on Wednesday, when they have their 55+ day, with 6X points on VP. Is this because you play at Boyd, or is there another reason you don't go to Station Casinos? I appreciate the benefit your experience, and of the other experts on this Board. Thanks and good luck for the remainder of your trip.

or three(?) I guess. Looking forwards to your whole trip summary, also your experiences in the MSS VP tournament (I'm doing Cals next week),
I welcome any tournament strategy tips as well as tips on maxing 4Q offers for a less dedicated grinder
(I think I got the gist of it in the replies about the promos),
but I definitely will not be maxing the $440 - unless things go great and I do the royal flusher parlay to .50 and $1.

Yeah, with the volume he's putting in I would expect 2 or 3 on average for the whole trip. He's obviously hit more than that so far, but nothing really unexpected.

As for VP tourneys, assuming DDB...two biggest tips

    1. Complete all of your hands.
    2. 3 to a Royal is better than a pair of face cards.

And if it's late in the session and you pretty sure you're out of the money, then you probably should be even more aggressive toward premium hands, like an Ace being better than 55-TT.

Another thing I forgot, hit the deal/draw button after a winning hand immediately to skip any credit count ups.

Thank you DJ. I don't have anything against Station. I've never even gambled at one. I know they have good games too. I don't rent a car and currently can get 3 week stays downtown comped, I can use a variety of food comps, and their are plenty of good gambling opportunities. I also never have a car so they are inconvenient. If things change for me downtown, I plan to play $12,000 through one day at Palace Station and probably South Point and hope they're interested.
I sincerely state that I am not a VP expert. I can play half a dozen games competently and consistently play with players better than I am. I think that I'm really good at doing Vegas for free, finding decent plays, and riding out losing streaks. That is the story that I planned to tell, but a some Royals changed things.

I know you have asked for food comps from slot attendants at Boyd properties but have you tried at others like the D or 4Q? I don't know if they operate the same way. I often play several thousand coin in at MSS but never think to ask a slot attendant for a comp at 777 or the buffet.

4 Q's mostly give's out comp dollars at a very generous rate. It is actually better deal than having to ask for a comp. I've seen a host give out a food voucher once, unprompted, to a player at her machine. I have never even considered doing this at the D, so I don't know what their response would be, but they also give comp dollars based on play, so I'm not optimistic.

When I use to play at Sam's Town I saw a neighbor get a comp from a slot supervisor. I asked him about it and started doing that myself. At MSS the host was sometimes gone when I wanted a comp. I tried the same thing and it turned out better than asking some hosts. It only usually works when the host is not on duty. I find $4,000 through is an easy $25 or $30 777 comp through a slot assistant, but not always through a host. I've done it for less coin though.
You use to be able to get a buffet comp from anyone working the player's desk at MSS for a grand or two coin in. This included Friday night seafood for perhaps a bit more. I suspect that is still true, but a Haven't asked for a buffet in a while. MSS has a current promotion at the kiosk for a free, same day, breakfast or lunch buffet after earning 15 tier credits. That's a little less than 850 points on 9/6 JOB if you don't pull your card, change games, etc.
