Hello, So this is my first time getting an offer with a food and beverage credit. My question is how does it work? Will it automatically be taken off my bill when I check out, or do I need to go to an Mlife desk and have them credit my account. Thanks
Yes, just charge to your room. You should only need to visit the desk if the credit doesn't apply properly for some reason.
Also it will only take off the food and beverage portion of the check. If you leave a tip on the check that will not get used by the credit. You will have to pay that part when you check out.
Charge to your room. Whatever amount of credit you have should be applied automatically to qualifying food & beverage charges. You should be able to see this reflected in the folio on the TV in your room. If you went and spent $125 on F&B and wrote in a $25 tip, a normal room charge would look like this: Restaurant ABC $125.00 Restaurant ABC Tax $10.31 Restaurant ABC Tip $25.00 If you had a $50 credit and it was correctly applied, it would look like this: Restaurant ABC $75.00 Restaurant ABC Tax $6.19 Restaurant ABC Tip $25.00 If you had a $125 credit, it would look like this: Restaurant ABC Tip $25.00 One thing to watch for is that if you don't use up all of your credit in the first transaction, make sure the remainder gets used on the the next transaction(s). I've found this to be a problem not limited to a particular chain.
Keep your receipts so you can check agains the TV billing. It is VERY, VERY easy to mix up what you paid, and even forget about another charge that you made.
I do follow by checking my bill on the tv but it would be nice if they just showed the complete charges, had a separate line for the credit and showed the deduction...
To piggyback the OP’s inquiry, how about Free Play? For instance, I also was offered a F&B credit with my three night stay AND then Free Play... how and when does that go into effect?
F&B is tied to your hotel account and is automatic. Freeplay usually requires you go to the Mlife counter to activate it. Sometimes it is on your Mlife account and you download direct from the machine without visiting the counter.
I've always been able to access the FP directly from the machnes. I've never gone to a MILF desk to activate any freeplay
Which hotel? Some responses on this thread are incorrect. MLIFE hotels have a specific set of restaurants that can be applied to F&B credit. When you check in you can ask the clerk for the list. At MGM Grand they even give you a handy pamphlet with a list of them. They can confirm with them that you have F&B credit in your reservation, no need to activate it on an MLIFE desk but you will need to activate the free play at the mlife desk.. I'm sure if you search the boards you can find older posts that list out the places for an individual hotel. NOTE: F&&B credit is different than resort credit. Resort credit has almost no restrictions. If you can charge it to your room, then resort credit can take care of it. I believe F&B credit is only good in restaurants that are managed by the casino.. I'm not really sure. (Some restaurants are not owned or managed by the casino. That company just pays the casino rent and a certain percentage for being in the space.)
The F&B credit will not show on your guest ledger as a credit, one (or multiple) of your room F&B charges will just be short of the credited amount. It can be a bit confusing to figure out if the amount was actually taken off. Also, just reconfirm the credit amount with front office staff upon check in.
You asked what hotel I got the food and beverage credit for. If you can charge it to the room I figured the restaurant would count but I’m just going to ask either way when I check in.
Just wanted to add my experience as well. Twice I've used the remaining credit for breakfast on the last day, both times that didn't come off automatically. It wasn't a big deal but just keep an eye out for it and a simple talk at check out fixed it right up.
Ah yes... been there with this issue. No idea when they process charges and balance/remove them if you still have a credit. Heading out soon to NYNY with $300 F/B and will (again) try to keep track of each meal and drink to make sure I get my full perk.
I have a room in july for 2 nights with a $50 FB credit. I am getting a daybed at the pool for. $100 FB minimum. What are the chances I can use the credit to cover my bill from the pool bar? ( I plan to charge the pool bar expenses to my room).
