As with most status levels globally (also airlines, hotels, etc.), I think most people who say it doesn’t matter do not know the benefits and/or have not experienced having them/the highs of having them.

It is true that offers don’t always depend on what card (I do get certain offers only because of status) you have but if you play at the higher level supporting the better offers more you will have the better card anyway (and will have used the card benefits more).

I will be moving down in one or more of my programs soon, but it was good while it lasted.

You guys could have just gone to the nearest restroom and puked in a toilet. Much better than a cab or a hotel hallway.

Because they can't read the benefits list?

Perhaps a simple cost / benefit analysis shows that such status isn't important enough to warrant the expenditure required. Lots of people have the money to move up tier levels, but think it foolish to gamble more just to skip ahead in a buffet line.

The "high" of those benefits -- that's between you and your endorphins.

I think that was the crux of my post. Before you "work" to get to a tier, you should educate yourself on all the potential benefits and the statistical risk to get to it. It's definitely about reading the benefits list, but also deciding if, and how, those benefits help you. I am a big proponent of knowing whatever you can about any program and maximizing the value of it, no matter what it is. Personally, there is no "high" for me when I get or use a benefit, there is simply the knowledge that I earned the benefit and I will use it for me.

My wife and I take the approach of a budget for a vacation as a sunk cost. We plan to spend x number of dollars on food, hotel, entertainment, and travel. To us gaming is entertainment, but our budget was lower because we were still spending on food hotel and travel. Thanks to insight from this very board our food and hotel are comped and travel is free through SW points, that gave us a larger entertainment budget which gave us the better color card and more offers. The cool part is gambling vacations are the only kind where the budget could stay in tact or grow.

We’re not a big enough players to spread our play out over several casinos so we made a decision several years ago to focus our play with one group and chose mlife. I’ll admit we loved the idea of having gold cards and wished we could make enough trips to reach platinum but it wasn’t happening. In fact, our ability to go 3 times a year has dropped to once a year (work, aging parents, etc.).

But now we have one card that really works for us and it’s Black! The mlife credit card really gives us benefits. We earn comps just by doing what we normally do in everyday life. I have a 40 mile commute, one way, to work everyday so I gas up using that card and the points really add up. We also use it for home/auto repairs or upgrades and for any other travel. We even took short trip to the Horseshoe in Shreveport and paid at CET property with the mlife card!

On our upcoming trip the room is comp’d and we have a small resort credit just from our regular mlife offers. We convert the points on the card to express comps and they will cover the resort fees and then some. We’ll earn more while we’re there. So the player card color ain’t that big a deal anymore.....that black credit card is where it’s at for us

Reading the benefits list isn’t the same as experiencing it. Furthermore, there are many unpublished benefits.

I don’t gamble more to skip a buffet line and never have. My tier levels come naturally or matched (for the most part - I have done mileage runs in the past for airline status based on cost benefit analyses). But I (and my friends and family) do appreciate the moments when I cut 200 people in line at the buffet to eat for free. Or leave a fight and cut 1000 people in line for a cab - one person with me dove in because she was worried it wasn’t a legit cut and will never forget or live down the experience. Or cut 2000 people in line to get friends in nightclubs for free. I have countless stories like that which I will not bore you with but rest assured, as I moved up through the levels organically and realized what I was getting (published and unpublished), it became more experience than status and just reading the lists do not give you the full picture.

This sounds more like an entitlement thread...it's a card....who cares about the color?????

I've only got a gold card in Vegas and I get treated EXTREMELY well....TY.

Casinos treat me well because I have BETTER cards in my wallet.

Courtesy and respect go much further.

Don't take my word for it...use your 7stars at an MLife casino.......let me know how that goes???

Ditto about the mlife credit card SBTX - I use it all the time, I just pay it off every month - and since my last trip in March I have enough points/credits, whatever they are called - for about $150 in free play...

I'm not really sure what you're trying to say here. I don't think the OP meant literally the color of the card as gold is and platinum and even diamond are nicer looking that the red 7 stars card. I think the OP meant the status of the card.

If you have an Mlife gold card that is having a higher status, if you meant total rewards gold then I don't disagree either. You can be treated very well regardless of your card or status. Go to Vegas once a year for 2 days and earn 4999 points each day at ballys. You'll end up with 14998 points and more comps than you could know what to do with.

Casinos treat you well because you play there and spend money there. I agree being nice and respectful help, but tier status matters too.

PS, in AC Mlife matches Diamond to gold and all the perks that go with it until the following year.
