Report: SLS to rename to.. The Sahara

You read that right. Vital Vegas is reporting SLS Las Vegas will be renaming to the Sahara.

Thank goodness, it's about time. I loved the Sahara back in the day. Now, is there any chance Resorts World renames their property Stardust?.....LOL

 

The Blue Chip Casino (Boyd owned) in Indiana has the Stardust Event Center. whoopee!

 

Certainly better than SLS.

 

My wife’s initials are SLS and I did try to buy one of their doormats with SLS on it but they wouldn’t let me !

 

LOL, please tell me they are going to bring back the rollercoaster and nascar redneck heaven

 

We loved the nascar, Indy racing. It was a must stop every trip.

 

For once! Once! The only time I remember thinking this in maybe the last 10 years or so, the owners/managers of some Strip casino did something right!

 

Awesome ! I always enjoyed the Sahara back in the day. I think that’s a great move.

Oooh, this may start a trend: how about the defunct Lucky Dragon could reopen as the Boardwalk, Stardust, Westward Ho?

Maybe The Wynn can become the Desert Inn..figured they'd be wanting to ditch the Wynn name anyway.

Las Vegas is after all in the desert, so we have Sahara once again, maybe rename Wynn the Desert Inn, rename PHO back to Aladdin, rename Venetian back to the Sands, rename Bellagio back to the Dunes, we already have Luxor, we have Mirage, and rename Resorts World to the Gobi.

 

IIAC, the name of Shelly's company that owns it all is still Sands.

 

God I loved playing Texas Tea at the Boardwalk. Might be my favorite Vegas memory of the early aughts....

 

Ah, I'll have to go back if that's the case. Sahara was my first Vegas experience. Playing $3 double deck and hitting all my 12's against a 6....

 

I am a little surprised so many people are reacting positively to this rumor. The Sahara was a dump for years before it closed. I am no fan of SLS either. But I don't see the positive in reverting back to the brand name that had, in the few years before it closed, become one of the worst on the Strip

 

Call me naive but I somehow don't think they'll drag out the stained carps and the smoke-filled air. Like I said, call me naive.
