Son has been asking about Vegas and looking forward to his first trip to Vegas since he was about 8 years old. Well, the time has come, so he's going to get to know Downtown quite well, and we're spending 1 night on the strip too.

I'm a DT vet, but any suggestions for things to do for a 21 year old on his first trip from some of the youngsters on the board?

Wife and play table games for hours each day, usually at Cal or MSS and we're staying at The Cal for this trip as well as tomorrow night at the Linc purely for location mid strip.

    TIA.

    JW

Assuming you're talking about non-gambling activities... my friends/family usually want to do the zip line. I refuse because I don't want to be that fat guy that gets stuck half way. There's also axe throwing at Axehole and Neonopolis. The shark pool at GN is pretty cool and the Plaza and DTG have a decent pool scene. There are several bars on Fremont East and Container Park is pretty interesting as well.

I've already figured I'd watch him zipline, bad knee keeps me from having any desire to join him on that. Axe throwing is something I haven't heard about. Pool at DTG is the plan for Sat.

    Thanks!

Possibly on the Mob Museum, will probably depend on how his gambling budget holds up.

    Keep 'em coming!

They still have the dancing dealers. Can’t remember exact times, but was at GG on Monday night sometime after 9pm since I have a picture from dinner that night that was taken around 9. I know we stayed til around 12:30am and they still had the music blaring and the dealers dancing away. A couple of older guys were approached by casino employees about filming the ladies.

Lol, you should consider writing those clickbait headlines for the Internets :).

Might I suggest some of the Vegas Nightclubs too, Marquee or XS. You and the wife can stay outside the nightclub and play on the tables / machines.

I agree on a club, maybe even a party bus or tour so he can go in a group?

Maybe even a step down like carnival court for drinks and music then you can join for a little?

High Roller happy half hour is great fun, and if hes lucky maybe he will be in the same (globe?) As a 21st girls party haha.

Took my now 24 year old when she was 21, along with my then 78 year old Mom.......yikes.
I think at least a day and evening on the Strip is in order. Carnival Court for sure, High Roller, Harrah's Piano Bar.........all super fun for all ages. She is going back tomorrow ( gulp) with three girlfriends...........will be a different trip for sure!

Casino hop with a drink (aka play video poker at the bar for a "free" drink) and take in the sites!
Still one of my favorite things to do

Or the high roller happy half hour? I did that for my 30th and it was a hit for everyone (friends and my parents)

This. Each trip when I go downtown I'll start off at the Plaza and hit every casino on Fremont Street all the way down to El Cortez. Great way to see the sights and all the neon. Maybe he could get a $1 chip from each casino you guys visit to remember the occasion that much more.

    Have a great time!!!

My family took me for my 21st birthday 13 years ago. I still remember it like yesterday. Don't overplan. Plan on touring the Strip for a day (or TWO). He will be in awe and want to check out the casinos as I did. Show him the Bellagio Conservatory. Show him the fountains and the volcano. Show him the old school hotel like the Flamingo and have him compare to the latest (Aria and Cosmo). There is a ton of things to do and it will definitely be more than enough. Oh, and make sure he has a beer in his hand, ALWAYS. Just go with the flow and let him determine where to go next. Downtown is also a great call, but I think two nights on the Strip will satisfy his curiosity.

I'm the same as taking my 21 yr old son to Vegas in early July. Not planned much apart from watching the PDC darts at Mandalay Bay and he wants to visit Counts Kustoms. We are staying Downtown as well, at the D.
